  1. We were on Regal around the British Isles in June - black medallions for Elite and white for first timers. On the first sea day ‘white’ cruisers had an introductory talk by the CD and a ship’s tour. There were a LOT of whites!
  2. I would think there’s a good chance of teens being onboard. For most children in the UK they will still be on holiday from school until the end of Aug / beginning of Sept. Have you joined your roll call? You may find some more information there.
  3. The cab driver who took us into Belfast gave us a card for the company with a number to call when we were ready to be picked up. Also I imagine that Uber operates there.
  4. It was only £15 for up to 4 passengers to take a cab from the ship to the centre of the city. The return cab was on a meter and was just £7, again for up to 4. Better value and no need to queue!
  5. I think you’re correct with the date, we sailed on her in 2018 with our grandson.
  6. We were onboard at 11.15. Went to the Lido deck too to find a table in the sun. Cases arrived about 2.30 - now unpacked and having tea in the room.
  7. Rudi-Cruiser, I think you previously mentioned you have a UK port on your itinerary, I’m curious to know what the rules are for your dog getting off the ship.
  8. Thanks for that - I hate gluten free batter as it makes me feel nauseous. My mother had coeliac disease for 50 years (living until she was 97). We joked that she could go on Mastermind with her specialist subject being gluten-free products! We were on SoA last year and absolutely loved it. Sorry about your cat, it’s very sad to lose a pet. They make up a big part of many families.
  9. Thanks for taking us along on your cruise. We’ll be on SoD in Nov 2024! Just a quick question if you don’t mind - is the batter on the fish and chips gluten free for everyone? Thanks.
  10. Not the only cruise line to include alcohol in their rates - SAGA does and is serving drinks in UK ports.
  11. JimmyVWine - thank you for taking the time to write this excellent review. We are on a similar itinerary on 1 June and wondered if you could tell me roughly where the tender dock is in Guernsey. Thanks.
  12. Sarah, Have a look at ‘mal de debarquement’ on google.
  13. We’ve taken our grandson on cruises from the age of 4 and he’s never eaten from a kids’ menu in any venue!
  14. Darn - never thought of asking for a refund 😡. Thanks for the info will remember next time (if there is one)!
  15. Robkat - I think you’ve made a great choice. If you haven’t arranged anything yet for Quebec, we went on a great ‘free’ walking tour with Samuel Dubois and can thoroughly recommend him.
  16. Hi Robkat Last year we took the Princess excursion which included 3 hours in Montreal and then going on to the airport. This is what I wrote on our roll call! "We booked the Princess excursion to Montreal airport giving us about 3 hours on our own before being taken to the airport. It didn’t work out like that - we were over an hour late leaving the ship. How long does it take to get 40 people plus bags onto a bus? We eventually arrived in Montreal just before 1 pm and were told we would be picked up at 2 pm. We arrived at the airport before 3 - our check in didn’t open until 6.30 pm. We got to the business lounge an hour later to find that we had to queue to get in 😳. The food wasn’t good and the white wine was undrinkable (we had to queue to be served). Our plane was 2 hours late leaving Heathrow so we took off at midnight. We have seen enough of Montreal airport to say we will not go there again. The whole experience was horrible plus we have never waited in line to get into a business lounge. However, on the positive side, we did enjoy the cruise. We thought the food was excellent and the service (club dining) very good. Our room steward was one of the best we have had. The ship was ‘tired’ but after a couple of days we didn’t notice that." We stopped in Montreal in a really busy area with lots to see. Unfortunately it was 1pm when we arrived and were told that we had to leave at 2 pm which gave us enough time to either eat or do a quick look round the local area. The restaurants were all mega busy. Some pax were late back to.30the bus as they got lost so we didn't leave until about 2.30 pm. Apparently a lady was on the bus had a flight before 5 pm so she shouldn't have been on the bus. When we arrived in Montreal she should have been sent to the airport in a taxi (15 minutes away) so the rest of us could have stayed for the full 3 hours. As you can imagine it was a very disappointing end to a great cruise and the annoying fact is that it could have been avoided. On the plus side, the business lounge did stay open for the BA passengers (about 30 of us) until our plane was boarding but the food and drink areas were closed! Good luck.
  17. What would happen if the dog owner is off-loaded due to illness / emergency? Where would the dog go? Who would take responsibility for it if the passenger was travelling solo? .
  18. There were 2 on our Mississippi cruise - a guide dog for a blind lady and a small one in a basket on a walking frame.
  19. SaraSailing The curtains annoyed me too! We had a mid-ship suite which had a sofa along the side wall of the bedroom so when seated your only view was of the balcony divider - a very poor design. We would have preferred to have 2 chairs to position in front of the window. Sorry about your breathing problems, hope you feel better soon. Thanks for taking the time to post. Brenda
  20. We’ve booked Canaries Christmas too 😁.
  21. Good choice! They both have great itineraries. If you haven’t been to Greenland before, the passage through Prince Christian Sound is spectacular!
  22. We’ve never had this feature and it hasn’t been on automatically. When we travel with our daughter and grandson, DH links the 3 of them but not me. I want some peace and quiet…😁.
