  1. We made it very clear to leave us alone and we would not pay anything, he said its ok, he is a free goverment service. At the end we decided to give him $10, before we got it out he asked for $30 to pay for lunch. We ended up giving him $15.
  2. We were there in April, it was free & tubes included. Great day!
  3. We were in Tiano Bay in April. It was our favorite gated cruise area. The pool, & lazy river are free. Both were warm. We were never encouraged or suggested to buy a drink or anything. The pool area is huge and gorgeous. The were many very pretty tropical birds in the trees when you enter the port area. The whole area was beautiful. Shops were all new & very well done. We walked into town, very easy, quick, close, less then 10 min max. There were guides outside the gates. One insisted on being our guide, we told him no 20 times, we kept walking, telling him we don't want a guide and are not paying anything. He never gave up. It actually ended up being good, he walked us to everything we wanted to see, was our private photographer, carried our purchases, everyone in town knew him. It felt very safe with or without him. We ended up tipping him at the end. We spent probably 2 hours out exploring. I did my research before we set sail to make sure we would feel safe walking to town. There were police on most corners. We wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Great day! We got off the ship soon as we could, went to town first, then back on the ship for lunch. After lunch changed into swim suits walk back into the terminal port area & enjoyed the pool & time exploring there. Went back to the ship late afternoon. As fabulous as Tiano Bay is, it's worth checking out Puerta Plata, umbrella street, pink street & just seeing the area since your there. Definitely on foot if you can. Happy travels!
  4. Welcome to those who recently joined this rollcall. Hello fellow Mainer. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, now Christmas just around the corner. By January I'll be in full cruise mode, getting close to packing & daily research. Delacruz, yes time will go fast til we set sail, this anticipation is half the fun. I don't blame ya for sneaking in a little cruise break during the workday, we won't tell, lol.
  5. Thank you both for all you have put into this review. The details, the narrating, the photos, it was so helpful, entertaining & added excitement for our Apr 2024 trip on Venezia. I am sure I will reread it after the holidays and before we set sail. Happy Travels!!
  6. I still like this site better then the other 2 you mentioned, yet I think most use them now adays. Thats awesome you have so much to be celebrating delacruz. Because we have been to all these islands several times we don't plan on excursions this time around, mostly just walk around port, pools & there beaches, and towns where close, same as Nycfa is. Nycfa; we were on MSC Meraviglia also, in April this year, Port Canaveral to NY. I miss the drink pkg already. The drink pkg on Carnival is just to expensive. Delacruz; We were in Dom. Rep. this year at Tiano bay (was our favorite port area) and had a good day walking into Puerto Plata. Was nervous at first, but we felt very safe. Got lots of fun photos. So this time we will stay in the port at Amber Cove since we never docked there. Looks like a good pool day, lazy river etc. Your plan in San Juan sounds good, not boring at all. We will just walk around. I had seen others in the past mention Barrachinas for pina coladas. If you say it's really that good & worth it, we may go find that place. Always a fan of finding a good tasting cup of coffee that I haven't had. I just looked up what Mallorcas is, Oh my, that sounds delicious. Which coffee shop do you reccommend? In the past we went to the rain forest. Did a segway tour. Island tours. & walking out on our own. Grand turk we have rented golf carts a few times to explore on our own, this time we will stay in the port and enjoy what it has to offer. We love the sun but have to be careful also & can only take so much of it. Or I'd look like a lobster & more visits to the dermatologist. Holidays just around the corner, then I agree we will have a lot more excitement & chatter going on here once the new year starts to the final countdown... Wooowhoooo!!!!
  7. Delacruz, hi, enjoyed reading your plans, ill respond tomorrow when I have more time, but I just wanna say quickly if your boarding in 6 mo to the day your gonna miss the ship🤔. You are on April 15th?
  8. Boy this is a quiet roll call. Less than 6 months to go now. Woooowhoooo!!
  9. Do they have free room service of Continental breakfast? Some mornings we like coffee & croissants from room service on the balcony? Is it included? Any menus of room service? Thank you.
  10. Thank you, all helpful information. Looks like we will call an uber soon as we disembark.
  11. Is it doable to catch a 12:28pm flight at Newark airport, on a Friday in April from Carnival Cruise terminal? It says we dock at 8am. We always self-disembark as soon as we can. We hate to wait for a 4pm flight but don't want to stress to bad about getting there. I have read its hard to catch a cab after crossing the street. But wondering if that is our cheapest & easiest option to get there fast, & not have to hunt for an Uber if we schedule that. I'm sure LGA would be easier but it's also hundreds more expensive. We are not familiar with this area much or these airports. If you are familiar with getting from Manhattan cruise terminal to EWR, timing, cost, and most important catching a 12:28 flight, I appreciate your comments. Thank you!
  12. Hi fellow cruisers! My husband & I booked this cruise last week. Very excited, still lots of research to do now. Cruise #19 for us. We got our flight down booked, still deciding which to take home. Not familiar with EWR Newark airport. They have the best price & times. Can we make a 12:25pm flight? We self disembark. Anyone with experience there? Best way to get to EWR & cost? I look forward to chatting with you all for the next 7 mo. Karen
  13. Curious if any of you walked out of the port and to town on your own? If so how was that and the walk? If you took a taxi to town, what did that cost? Thanks
  14. Thank you for the review!! This is exactly what we want to do. I was so happy to hear it was only a 7 min walk to town and you felt safe. A few questions. 1. how long did it take you to walk from the fort back to the port? 2. Total how long did you spend doing all this, from leaving port and getting back into port? 3. Did you see lots of other tourist walking out of the port & around town?
  15. Thank you for that information. I got them booked now. All is good.
  16. Docking in Ocho Rios, anyone walked to the $3 Public beach to the left once you exit the terminal? How was it? Crowded? I see they have restrooms & rentals stuff, no food/drinks.
  17. Curious about the same thing. A bag of ground coffee price?
  18. Has anyone used Cocoa beach Express as their transportation from MCO airport to Port Canaveral Hotel? It is $29 they leave every 2 hours. Any experiences good or bad? Their home port is at the Raddison at the port hotel. I believe this is a different company from the Cocoa Beach shuttle I often read about. Just looking for some positive feedback before I go ahead & book them. Thank you.
  19. Thank you for that info!! I called the Raddison we are staying at in Port Canaveral, used our military discount and dropped another $73 off the rate we had booked at, plus a better room and breakfast added. Love these boards.
  20. Also interested in that question. Anyone? We would like to take a cab to city center, cost? Safety? Walk around on our own. An hour enough time to see center, umbrella st. Pink st, etc? Cab back to port, to enjoy the pool & explore Tiano bay. Back on ship by noon.
