  1. Yup back docked but turned around.
  2. As of right now Symphony is under power heading away from Triest dock. Not far so maybe just heading out to turn around but it is away from dock under power
  3. The first regular size cruise ship is here in Portland, ME - we've had a couple of the very small ones in the last couple of weeks but nice to see the real season starting

One of the things we all need to remember is that one cruise on a line may not tell the whole story. I was on a Crystal cruise back in 2012 (along with several others on this board) and if it was my first Crystal cruise it would have been on my only one. One of my worst cruises was on Regent but obviously from other comments and reviews it is a luxury line. The only thing we should all agree with is that there is nothing close to as good as NY pizza 🫠
  5. To me, a lot of does NC measure up to OC is up to us also. Yes, the crew treated up superbly but we also treated them that way which is one reason they were great to us. I didn't hear people say "hey -get me XX" we talked to them by name and were exceptionally nice to them. That made them want to treat us very well. So as things go forward if we treat them as we used to I suspect they will treat us as they used to.
  6. I wonder when ships will leave Triest? I assume that each will do some sort of test/shakedown sailing before heading to the first passenger port. That will be exciting - Serenity has been there since last 7/31
  7. Did the NY worlds fair several times as visitors always wanted to go. To show how old I also had done the 1958 Brussels fair. I think my first Disney land visit they were offering lifetime park passes for $30 - wish I had taken that up. First time to Disney World the Orlando airport was just a small hanger in a corner of the airport and Magic Kingdom was mostly there and Epcot had just opened and was only a small park with almost nothing there Ok I'm old
  8. I've worked in management for subsidiaries and we had very little (other than public) information about what was happening at parent. Do you really think Crystal knew that Genting stopped paying the fuel suppliers so Crystal had to stop cruising. Crystal had one of its best years before everything fell apart/ Was Crystal perfect - no but much of what happened to them was out of their control
  9. Maybe those who are so concerned about butlers can arrange to bring their home butlers with them - you can arrange to pay for their room and they can serve you so you get the same butler service you get at home. Great ships, great itineraries, great food, great entertainment, great lectures just aren't enough without great butler service.
  10. Unfortunately, more and more ports have or are discussing limiting the size of ships allowed to dock - forcing them to anchor and transport passengers in
  11. What facts does your TA have? Their new owner is a very financially stable company so I've heard
  12. I live in the Portland area - we are already seeing cruise ship as the "season" has started. You will enjoy your trip
  13. Seems to me that it is overwhelming that would be nice but won't change their plans. With no real knowledge I think there will be casinos at some point in time
  14. So I shouldn't get my 35mm travel slides out - eh? I did try to digitalize them but...
  15. I very much enjoyed my Harmony experiences. I do remember my first Symphony cruise and thinking what an upgrade Symphony was. A vastly physically upgraded ship Looking forward to the upgraded physically on the refurbished vessels
  16. Me also - seen it in Japan also. I wonder how much it has been re-fitted over the years We boarded in Copenhagen and the captain greeted us with "Welcome Home" - it didn't take long to know what he meant and how it felt
  17. There are also people that don't want to publish their whereabouts (on this cruise on these dates) on any or on a mostly public forum such as this.
  18. I thought of the 2012 journey as the trip from hell - bad weather, missed ports, delays departing in NYC.
  19. Just curious what people use butlers for - in suite dining? or making reservations for other things etc? The times we've had a butler we really didn't use the butler at all. Just curious
  20. I'd bet you if you didn't know the ships were old you'd think brand new - from a passenger stand-point. If all the passenger areas have been redone and resized what is old about them - sure maybe engineering . From a passenger view a comparison between the Crystal ships and a brand new other line would show no difference. If you aren't interested why get on this board - just go where you are interested
  21. Gee sitting in the Bistro with ugly wall paper and great food and service or at home with nice walls and ?? food and me doing the service - guess what I'd choose
  22. The announcement of details about 2024 world cruise mentions special benefits for Crystal Society members
  23. It was the luxury lines parent company that failed - not Crystal From what I've heard and read before COVID Crystal was actually doing well but their parent failed and this Crystal couldn't continue. As said time will tell
  24. I find it interesting that Seabourn advertises on golf broadcasts on TV. Probably the right audience along with Rolex watches
