  1. Yes, Bermuda's statement on the form about requiring a test is incorrect. They haven't gotten around to updating the travel authorization form. Hopefully they will do that soon.
  2. You're taking a real risk if you're going to disembark at 8:30 or 9 and have to be at the airport by 10. Even if you could instantaneously jump into a taxi...and I wouldn't depend on being able to do that...the trip from the cruise terminal to LGA that would be about 30 minutes in light traffic could take an hour or even more if traffic is heavy due to volume, accident(s), weather or road construction. My first recommendation is to book a later flight. If that's not possible then book a limo or car service in advance, but even that doesn't guarantee you'll be able to get to LGA on time. Even a pre booked car could be late in getting to the cruise terminal and even if they aren't that still doesn't address the traffic issue. Note: I know I told you in an earlier post that you could make a noon flight...but my assumption was that you would be disembarking a touch earlier and that you didn't have to be at the airport any earlier than 10:30 or so to make your flight.
  3. No testing is required for arriving passengers on and after October 25 even if you're not vaccinated. However unvaccinated passengers have to provide proof of travel health insurance that covers COVID illness. https://www.ncl.com/travel-requirements-by-country https://www.gov.bm/cruise-travel-authorisation
  4. Having spent all too many nights on business travel in a Red Roof Inn in another Pennsylvania city I would not recommend that chain to anyone. Perhaps the one you're recommending is better than what I experienced but for me they're an automatic "no" unless they're the only hotel in a location, giving me no other choice.
  5. Earlier this month POTUS said he would ask secretary of Health and Human Services and the attorney general to review how marijuana is scheduled under federal law. It's giant leap from POTUS making that request to concluding that marijuana won't be illegal for long.
  6. Your favorite cruise search website is wrong. There are a few cruises from Manila in 2023 . Silversea has two departures from Manila in February 2023, one each on Silver Shadow and Silver Spirit. They're listed on cruisetimetables.com, along with two other cruises. I verified on the Silversea website that the two February cruises from Manila do indeed exist and are available for purchase. I didn't bother to verify the other two cruises.
  7. The required proof of travel insurance is for unvaccinated passengers only. Vaccinated passengers have to upload their vaccination records, but not proof of insurance. In either case, the proof of vaccination or proof of travel insurance has to be uploaded with your Travel Authorization application and you'll find out before your cruise whether your vaccinations or your travel insurance meet Bermuda's requirements. It's not going to be a surprise rejection on embarkation day.
  8. I can't speak from personal experience in making this trip but based on some knowledge of the area if you're driving via Route 80, Stroudsburg, PA might be a reasonable place to overnight. It's about 1.5 hours from there to Cape Liberty . There are several chain hotel properties in the area including a Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn and Suites and Fairfield Inn and Suites, as well as some independent hotels.
  9. It's NCL's website, not Bermuda's, that uses the 10/22 date because NCL's reference date is for NCL cruises departing on or after 10/22, while Bermuda's rule and its website refer to passengers arriving in Bermuda on or after 10/25. The dates don't conflict because NCL's 10/22 departure arrives in Bermuda on 10/25 and therefore is not subject to a testing requirement.
  10. I checked and the website does say the same thing...and it specifically cites October 25 as the vaccination requirement changeover date. Effective on 10/25 vaccinated guests don't have to be tested but unvaccinated guests do but can use a self test. Clearly the October 25 and later requirements with the self testing for the unvaccinated are Celebrity's own concoction.
  11. Celebrity, or any cruise line can require its passengers to be tested even if the cruise's ports of call don't require it. In this case Celebrity is requiring a test for unvaccinated passengers even though Bermuda is not. I think allowing unsupervised self testing makes a mockery of the requirement. It's outright pathetic.
  12. That's only because Oceania hasn't yet gotten around to updating their protocols . The Oceania employees you or your TA speak to don't know anything more than what they're told. They read from a script. I fully expect O will soon update their protocols for Greece to reflect the latest requirements. Bermuda and Canada recently changed their protocols and O updated theirs in response, but it took some time to do it. O's corporate sibling NCL usually updates their protocols a bit more quickly than O does.
  13. We visited the caves about 35 years ago so I have no recollection of how long it took . At the time only Crystal Cave was open to the public. Fantasy Cave opened some years after that. Per their website, caves.bm , each cave tour takes about 35 minutes. You may have to wait to start your tour if they're busy. I'd recommend that you go to the website to get more information.
  14. You can do it on your own. Take the Blue Route ferry to Hamilton, walk to the bus station and take the #1,3, 10 or 11 bus to the caves. Or take the Orange Route ferry to St. George and then the #1,3, 10 or 11 bus to the caves. If you're on NCL (and looking at your schedule I suspect you're not) you can take the free NCL ferry from Dockyard to St. George and then the bus to the caves. One word of caution. Since you have a substantial amount of travel to get to the caves and back (I'd allow 90 minutes in each direction) it will eat into your available time at the caves. Just give yourself adequate time, particularly on the return trip. Sometimes bus and ferry runs get cancelled and there can be a substantial wait until the next ferry.
  15. For reasons that are not at all clear to me, when NCL restarted cruising after the pandemic shutdown they decided to not allow check in earlier than 21 days prior to your cruise. Previously you could check in at any time after you had a confirmed reservation.
  16. We don't because we know it's wrong for passengers arriving on and after October 25. 😉 Seriously...it really is bad when a governmental agency sends out misinformation. Who knows how many people will take unnecessary tests because of it.
  17. I think it says that because they're not distinguishing arrival dates and the same email is going to passengers arriving before the 25th. After October 25 when the testing requirement is dropped they'll probably get around to correcting the information. By the way, if you read the linked page carefully you'll see that an antigen test was also acceptable under the outgoing rules. PCR wasn't required. A valid pre-travel COVID-19 test must be a COVID-19 NAAT test listed below or a supervised antigen test.
  18. Yes, you can do a noon flight. You must have looked at Google Maps at a time when traffic was heavy. In "normal" traffic a half hour is more like it. Of course traffic could be heavy when you go...you never know. My preference would be to use Uber or Lyft . There were recent reports of taxi drivers ripping off passengers by charging an exorbitant and illegal flat rate. The trips are supposed to be on the meter. Car service such as Carmel Limo and Dial 7 are another possibility.
  19. By the way, if your travel agent said you needed a rapid PCR test that was also wrong. Even under the old rules requiring testing you could have taken an antigen test. (Read the same page from Bermuda's government.)
  20. No it doesn't. Read my post above where I've now quoted the top of the page. I'll repeat it here: Apply for the Bermuda Travel Authorisation Cruise Passenger Travel Authorisation All Cruise travellers arriving October 25 2022 onwards will no longer require a pre-travel test, arrival test or a day 4 test. Unvaccinated non-resident travellers will still be required to upload valid proof of travel health insurance to enter Bermuda.
  21. It's a recent policy change. If you don't believe me and you don't believe NCL, then will you believe Bermuda's government ? https://www.gov.bm/cruise-travel-authorisation Apply for the Bermuda Travel Authorisation Cruise Passenger Travel Authorisation All Cruise travellers arriving October 25 2022 onwards will no longer require a pre-travel test, arrival test or a day 4 test. Unvaccinated non-resident travellers will still be required to upload valid proof of travel health insurance to enter Bermuda.
  22. You don't need a PCR test. In fact for your Nov. 5 sailing you don't need any type of test for Bermuda. Bermuda eliminated all testing for passengers arriving in Bermuda on and after October 25, 2022. You still need the travel authorization, which has a $40 per person cost. You need to read NCL's Sail Safe web page: https://www.ncl.com/travel-requirements-by-country Bermuda Cruise Protocols FOR ALL SAILINGS ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 22, 2022 Age Vaccinated Unvaccinated < 2 years Nothing Required. Nothing Required. ≥ 2 years Travel Authorization required. Application fee $40 Travel Authorization required. Application fee $40 Proof of travel health insurance
  23. This former Staten Island resident votes for the Gem. We're not fans of the larger "Away" class ships, having done a few cruises on Breakaway and Escape. We've done many cruises on the Gem and Jewel and much prefer the smaller ships with fewer passengers. It's difficult for me to explain the exact reasons for our preference but to us the Jewel class ships seem less crowded and hectic.
  24. I've found that the dress code in Grand Pacific can vary from itinerary to itinerary and vary depending on who the F&B director is . We've done several B2B, B2B2B and B2B2B2B cruises on Gem and once or twice the dress code changed during our stay on the ship at the start of a new segment.
  25. O's corporate sibling NCL has already updated its Sail Safe protocols to reflect this change so I suspect that O will follow suit very soon.
