  1. Now it has been moved, please keep all posts regarding this matter on the UK Cruisers Board. Thanks
  2. At that time of year, there will almost certainly be an excursion to Keukenhof, assuming your ship gets to Ijmuden or Amsterdam - not always guaranteed if weather is poor.
  3. Removed. Now on UK Cruisers board. If you would prefer it to be deleted please use report button. Thanks.
  4. In Stockholm you sometimes berth beside one of the ferry stops, but again it will depend on which ship you are on and her size. I have only ever berthed at Langeline Quay, which is next to one of the hop on hop off boat stops, but again on smaller ships. In Helsinki we needed a shuttle, even for Balmoral. You probably won't know for sure until the night before.
  5. Please - do NOT use this thread for cruise-related topics which should have their own threads. That is not its purpose. The number of people using this one has dropped so cruise-related questions, reviews etc will only be seen by relatively few people, whereas on the main board, many more will have the opportunity to contribute/benefit. Thanks. This thread may not survive indefinitely!
  6. Vampiress88 - please post your P&O v MSC review as a separate topic. It doesn't belong in this 'How are things where you are' thread. Thanks.
  7. At the time it was cost - £150 v. £30 or thereabouts. However, I prefer the halogen oven as there are temperature controls and a timer, so it switches itself off when done. It also has an air-fryer type attachment that sits on top.
  8. I have been using a halogen oven for years, ever since my remoska broke. Cheaper initial outlay and just as good as a conventional oven only quicker. No warm-up time either.
  9. Ships cannot go past Geiranger. It is at at dead end at the end of a fjord.
  10. Booked Fred Olsen's circumnaviagtion of Africa next year. That is something completely different. I wish P&O would resurrect the cruise aross to the USA, through Panama and up to Alaska and back.
  11. As someone with cruises booked on Saga and Fred, I can say Fred is quite a lot more expensive for what you get - having to add on transport and tips alone, neither of which are optional. Where Fred win however, is their choice of itineraries and ports, only accessible to smaller ships. I have also heard on the grapevine rumours Saga are considering a third new build, powered by hydrogen. On my recent Baltic cruise with Saga there were a substantial number of P&O refugees looking for the type of cruise P&O used to offer. I didn't hear anyone say they would return to P&O.
  12. Look after Aurora and have a good time.
  13. I find these glass wind breaks are a real pain for photograghers. ORCA also station themselves on the highest deck which gives great visibilty for spotting, but useless for photos. You'd think they could have just one observation deck with clear lines of site. Oceana and Oriana were the best ships for this. It also appears deck 19 is stepped back quite a bit which again is a nuisance.
  14. As an aside, I have seen people fall off three-wheel scooters as they can tip. Four wheels are much more stable.
  15. Perhaps they should do as Saga do, and store mobility scooters and wheelchairs, not needed on board, by the gangway ready to take ashore.
  16. Princess have always done that.
  17. We did, both times. It was magical in the early sunshine.
  18. 45 years separates these two photos of Stockholm. One from my first ever cruise (1977), the second from last week . Nice to see little has changed, except the first time, ours ship was at anchor, last week we docked. I wonder if the tall ship ever moved?
  19. Thanks everyone. Yes - so far mild - sneezing, runny nose and headache, all improving. It was another lovely Saga cruise to the Baltic with great (very hot) weather, superb food and Saga service.
  20. Back home and picking up reins, but the cold I thought I had is also Covid positive. Grrrrr.!
  21. The excursion to Tetouan is well worth it imo. Great guided walk through the ancient souk.
  22. OK, off cruising again. Please be good for my stand-in. Thanks.
  23. Funnily enough P&OSNCo used to do this in the early 1900s, for those wishing to skip the Bay of Biscay!
