Yes, seeing the terraces houses was spectacular as part of our tour many ears ago. It was a working archaeology site when I was last there. On my upcoming cruise in 2026 , I plan to go to the museum of the artifacts recovered from the Ephesus site. The second time I was there the museum was closed for two years for renovations. It is located in a town nearby. Thank you for the pictures!

Clay, I have been reading the live thread of the WC on Viking Sky. Look forward to your added posts. What an adventure of a lifetime you two will have!!!! Is someone checking in on your condo to make sure there is no water leaks etc. while you are cruising around the world? Bon Voyage 🥂

My personal observation is that having diner 7:30 or 8:pm, we have been seated on the port side. By end of night the starboard side is basically empty, but the late diners close down the port side. We have eaten on both side though. We are usually a table for two.

Thank you for your lovely trip report. Many years ago I was on a Panama Cruise over Christmas and New Years on the Celebrity Century. On New Years Eve we were off coast of PV. On the pool deck they had a great party with unlimited bottles of champagne ,both guest and crew were partying the night away. Great vibe. I loved Cartagena ,Columbia. Had a great private tour. Even bought a emerald ring that I treasure.Bought 6 bags of coffee beans on this cruise in various ports.. It was memorable, met lots of fun cruisers from all over the world, even New Zealand. Silver Sea is not my cup of tea. I am now only sailing on Viking Ocean. Thank you for all your pictures and posts. Cheers! Patti

I always order the Dole sole when on the menu on all my Viking cruises. It is always perfectly cooked and love the presentation of filleting it table side! What a great NYE feast you had. Thank you so much for your posts. as you travel to Hawaii .

It was the letter from Viking if you already had a booking before Nov 21. Offer expires today , Dec 31.. You have to call Viking. Got the current special price plus &500. Plus 400. Per cabin , final payment 6 months before cruise . Then transferred to my TA and got OBC and paid gratuities . Only need $50 per cabin for down payment.

Almost all my cruises have been in Europe , so I see this cruise as a relaxed one to enjoy the view, beaches, water and food and of course the ship! We have a DV1 aft cabin which is our favorite.

I am doing this itinerary in Oct 2025. Got a great deal. Having only been to Puerto Rico and St. Maarten on a Viking TA, I would like to know your experience of the various islands and ports. What excursion by Viking would you recommend? Are the ports of call easy to just walk into town or hire a taxi to see the highlights of the island? Did you do any of the food excursions? Which island was your favorite?

Love all my Viking cruises, TA from San Juan to Barcelona, Bermuda, Western Med, Scenic Scandinavia. The embarkation ports of Malta and Stockholm are the best. Sailing out of Stockholm through the archipelago to the Baltic Sea was fabulous. Also waking up at the pier on Malta and watching a huge cruise ship come into the harbor was so special sitting on our aft cabin balcony.

We too book a new cruise and rescheduled an upcoming cruise from 2025 to 2026. Kept all my onboard discounts when I originally booked this cruise. Got the promo price and also discount stated in the letter from Viking ( had to have a booking before Nov 21) for a new booking for 2025. I am a happy camper. But neither of these cruises are in 2024. ☹️So maybe I will find a last minute deal next year and book something.

I just changed our sailing for Gr Odyessy in FEb. 2025( Viking Star) to April 2026 and we will be on the new Vesta!!!!! Looking forward to being on one of the new builds.

Well, I just transferred my booking for 2025 to 2026 so we can celebrate my sister's birthday while on board. She is my younger sister.😂 I hope I will not need a scooter or other devices because I will be much older by then. Just praying I am still alive and have my wits about me. 🙏 Happy New Year 2024

You re on a Holiday sailing from FL, at least 15 days. You will have an old crowd for sure . Younger folks do not ge that kind of vacation time . Our June 2023 Scandinavian cruise had a great mix of ages from 30's to 80"s . Lots of fit young, and middle age and older folks doing kayaking, hiking, bike excursions. I think it just depends on itinerary and time of year. Welcome to your first Viking Cruise !!!!!!!

On our Scenic Scandinavian curse in June 2023, they also had CAVA on wine list at the Aquavit Bar. I was so very happy. I love CAVA more than Champagne. Usually , I bring a bottle on board but not this time. I always had a glass late afternoon when we met with friends after a day of excursions.

Jim, sorry you did not like some the changes on Celebrity. If you are shopping around, check out Viking Ocean. Many Celebrity cruisers have been drawn to their ships. You would love the Explorer Suite either aft of forward. VO only have 465 stateroom. but they do not have a casino and no children under 18. The staff is outstanding on board in every area. Safe travels home. I have so enjoyed following your trip report. Merry Christmas.
