  1. We've also done the train to taxi or Uber many times for NYC cruises. Quite easy. We ask to get dropped off at 12th & 48th-ish (where the light is) instead of bothering to go up to the turnaround at 55th. Cross 12th ave at the light. ----------------------------- For pickups back to wherever you need to go, even private rides we have pick us up outside the terminal on 12th Avenue or a corner spot. I prefer to be out of the chaos once a ship is unloading thousands of peeps.
  2. Don't count on taxis if you come back on a weekday. I learned this last year coming back on a Thursday on Norwegian Gem. No available taxis to be found; I assume most were busy getting people to work. (first time I had ever seen this although most times we come back from a cruise on Sat or Sun) I took an Uber to Penn Station and took the train to NJ. You can find cars that will take you to NJ but it's not usually reasonably priced.
  3. Yup! Been to Saint John on lots of other Canada/NE cruises, but wanted to check out this ship. And so easy sailing from NYC. No airports involved. 😀
  4. Date of Cruise: Feb 5-12, 2023 Ship: Beyond Cabin #: 8313 Deck #: 8 Cabin Category: IV Cabin Location: Aft Portside Bed Position: By window Balcony Type:. Infinite Verandah--so not really a balcony Balcony/Window Size: Standard with 2 chairs and a small table Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: None Balcony Overhang?: No Magic Carpet Issues?: No Noise Issues?: Cabin creaked a bit Wind Issues?: No Connecting Cabin? Yes; door inside cabin but we never heard noise from next door Advantages/Problems/Comments: Long walk from elevators but that was ok. Deck 8 is too low over a public outside deck and many times we heard loud conversations late at night. Yes the cabin felt large due to there not being a real balcony. It got very hot because the a/c shuts off when the window is open. Liked the large window but did not like that the captain can lock it. It was locked at sailaway because it had rained earlier. Boooo! Also it is very private; when you stand at the open window, you cannot see any of your neighbors. But overall we did not like the Infinite Balcony cabin and would not book one of these again.
  5. ok, so on this ship it looks like decks 6, 7, 8 and 9 all have aft wraps (category TM). So my question is: on which deck is the crew/emergency stairway door right next to the cabin entrance? Why does this matter you ask; I will tell you. On Conquest class and others I now can't recall, we usually chose deck 6 because it was above either a club (did not get noise) or other cabins once they refurbed (=added more cabins and eliminated said club). One time we chose a deck other than 6 (7 I think) and heard the stairway door slamming all the time from crew. So if you have stayed in these cabins, please let me know your experience with noise. Thanks in advance, and of course, HAPPY CRUISING! 🙂
  6. I think it would also depend what other ships are there that day. Norwegian uses pier 88 too. I haven't been on Carnival in a few years (since Sunrise was in NYC) but am going on Venezia in August. Hi Jeff!!! 😃
  7. Wait, these suites aren't Haven suites though, right? I think it says PH suite.
  8. Back in the day (as in maybe 8 yrs ago) the suites on the Gem had a wonderful Lavazza espresso machine that had the frothing arm. WHY WHY WHY they took those out I'll never understand or agree with! 😡 I'm sure it was a cost-savings somehow and that's all that seems to matter. Loved that machine.
  9. ok, thanks; good to know. So I haven't been in a suite on NCL in about 5 years but it is not Haven. There is a Nespresso machine, but I need a frother. I'll bring my own I guess.
  10. Has anyone had any noise issues in these suites? Appears to be empty space above this section.
  11. I called and they told me the GG points (and any PowerUp points) are credited at the end of each month. So I guess we'll see next week if they show in the account.
  12. We have always booked plat/sapphire dinners once onboard, even on the larger ships like Escape. But do it as soon as you can once you're onboard .
  13. I have the placemats from my very first 2 cruises--Victory and Imagination. Framed! Cruising is still fun, but I do miss some of the little things of by-gone days as mentioned in this thread. NCL and Celebrity used to welcome you aboard with a glass of bubbly. . . long-gone too. I will admit I really loved being welcomed that way! Are the Fun Times no longer a paper? I was just on Celebrity early February and still got paper although used the app too.
  14. If you did Go Green on your cruise, how long till the points showed in your account? My Beyond cruise from 2/5 shows, but not the Go Green points.
  15. Yup, on any cruise line I only send whites like t-shirts, undies and socks! the rest I will hand-wash if needed.
  16. I love this idea and plan to do myself next year. One week on one, and a week or maybe less on another ship (or line) just for variety!
  17. Good idea. I have a pic from 2 weeks ago too. I'll find her email address.
  18. I described the lobster on the plate 2 weeks ago on Beyond as "pitiful" once shelled. It was the size of two of my fingers. And what is with the blob of rice and one broccoli? On a so-called LUXURY cruise, you should be able to get two lobster tails in your already-paid cruise fare. I could maybe, possibly, see charging for more than that. I can order 3 plates of short rib or whatever, but not 2 tiny lobster tails. And I agree, I like them plain with the slight taste of salty sea water! Grilled is even better! When I do a NE/Canada cruise, I eat lobster in every port. It's a fun and attainable goal! 😁
  19. Last week on Beyond, Captain Kate talked about a fifth ship. She said it was already named (and entertained people's guesses as to its name) but that she could not say more than that at this point.
  20. OP: You should be fine with time to spare with a 12:30 flight. Airport is not far. I have never had a delayed debarkation in the dozen+ times back to Cape Liberty. Even on a ship as large as Oasis of the Seas. I realize delays occasionally happen, but even if delayed, you should still be ok with a 12:30 flight. Enjoy your cruise!
  21. We tried that. A/C did not go back on, and the cabin remained hot until we closed the window and the shade. Then we heard the a/c go on.
  22. Cappuccino was $5 on Beyond as of last week.
  23. We didn't have the drink package, so the 2 hours of free drinks was very nice. It is a particular menu but has a lot of options. We would bring one of the drinks to the MDR. So stupid that you can't get a drink during HH in the dining room.
