  1. They have the best coffee of any cruise line I’ve been on. And yes, included in beverage package.
  2. We don’t sail YC, so this is what we’d generally tip: Cabin steward: $60, if good service. $20 at the start. Bartenders: $1-2 per drink. If they are taking care of me by the pool for several hours, $10. Waitstaff: $5-10 at dinner each night. We also leave the daily service fee on.
  3. The drinks on easy plus cover up to $10 now. MSC changed their policy in April 2023 and now you only may the difference on drinks greater than your allowance.
  4. Right. The messaging system within the MSC for Me app is just for people onboard. It worked well for messaging friends we met onboard.
  5. It was included on my April 29th sailing. I am on again in December and can check then if your cruise is after that.
  6. Thank you. Just basic texting is what I need. Sounds like we might be ok.
  7. Ah, thank you. That's too bad that option isn't available for minors.
  8. Hello! We are sailing on the Meraviglia on December 9th with our 13 year old. My spouse and I sailed on April 29, however, we had the wifi included with our package so couldn't test this out. I am curious if guests have had success using iMessage without the wifi plan. On NCL, this is possible. I would prefer not to purchase the wifi plan for our 13 year old, but I want to have a way for us to stay in touch when we're not together onboard. Thank you!
  9. Wow - that's really unfortunate they have dropped some of the classics.
  10. Just one at a time unfortunately.
  11. I cruised in April and kept the app on my phone. When we booked a new cruise I was getting the same message. I had to delete the app and re-install, then it worked.
  12. I was also an experienced cruiser on other lines, mostly NCL. We took our first MSC cruise in April and today we will be booking our second one, sailing December 9 out of NYC. For the price, you absolutely cannot go wrong. I suggest you give it a try. Some things I found much better on MSC and others better on NCL (I prefer freestyle dining). The Meraviglia is the most beautiful ship I have sailed on.
  13. Yes - that's how we were able to book our April sailing on her. Unfortunately for December it isn't an option and they need to be added separately, paying full price. However, it's still great value for 7 nights coming it at around $1,100 CAD per person.
  14. I got an e-mail about it last night around 6pm. It's $529 CAD including taxes. This doesn't include drinks and wifi.
  15. I have tried the search function, but on my phone it isn’t the best. We don’t currently have an MSC cruise booked, but I’m trying to see what might be the best option for us. Can someone who has access to their booking let me know what the cost of the easy plus drink package is on a 7 night sailing (Meraviglia or US port of departure)? I don’t know why they can’t have the cost per day on their website. 🙄 Thank you!
  16. Our meals never took two hours. Most meals we were in and out within the hour for three courses. We sailed April 29th.
  17. Mine was missing this for our April 29th cruise and I literally wrote yes.no in and notified them and they gave zero f's about the medical form.
  18. To be honest, this is all very fishy. He goes overboard at 4:10am and she doesn't report him missing until "late afternoon" and within hours of this, she has a Go Fund Me for his funeral? I've been on the Magic and many other ships. One doesn't just fall overboard. It just doesn't add up.
  19. Yes, that's definitely the best way to be guaranteed to see the shows you want. As someone mentioned above, there are kiosks close to all elevators that allow you to do this. We booked them all as soon as we were onboard and changed them if needed.
  20. You're right, nothing is perfect. But for the price, MSC is great value. Our cruise was actually 8 nights! We generally always sail in an inside cabin, and that's what this one was. We don't spend much time in our room to justify the cost of a balcony, unless we get a great deal on an upgrade bid. You're going to have a great time! I read all the reviews ahead of time too and was a little concerned, but went in with an open mind and didn't really experience what most others were complaining about.
  21. I think for me, NCL is slightly better food wise than MSC. However, I really only had one bad meal on MSC. I can't complain at all. I do agree that the drinks are a bit better on NCL, but also no real complaints on MSC. Value for money is where I look and it's clear that MSC is the winner there!
