  1. From cruisehive website: "A final decision by the White House is set to take place on Friday when cruise industry leaders are set to meet with the Trump administration to discuss the ways they will keep guests and crew safe and implement a safe return of cruises. In November, cruise lines could then be able to resume operations but with strict new health measures in place just like what’s already happening in Europe with Costa Cruises, MSC Cruises, Aida Cruises, and TUI Cruises. When operations do resume they will likely be with one ship to test the waters and not at full capacity." I found this last line of this excerpt interesting. I'm trying to remember where I also saw the lines were planning the first couple of sailings using crew only, but my memory fails to kickstart on where I saw that, so can't confirm, yet.
  2. The 5-person YC1's have a pullman bed that drops down from the ceiling. It's not bad, really, but does get tight when everyone is getting ready for dinner. However, during the day, not a problem as we camped out on the YC pool deck for the day 😊
  3. You're going to be glad you went YC! Sailed the Seaside 2 years ago with 5 people in a YC1 room, it got kinda tight getting ready for dinner, but the butler from the Topsail Lounge had no problem finding a place to put our pre-dinners drinks each night! LOL A tip, we picked a room right across the hallway from the YC public restrooms. They are rarely used. This way, those of us could take care of "freshening up" while others continued to get ready in the cabin. 😜 Last year, we sailed the Seaside again with "only" 4 in the cabin, was a little easier, but 5 is doable, esp since you'll spend a lot of time in the lounge and the pool deck!
  4. Well, looks like MSC's accounting dept was correct. As of this morning, May 29th, both my deposit and my final payment have posted on both my credit cards and the account balances reflect the new amounts. What a journey in frustration, but these are different times, are they not?
  5. Latest update on my refund in 2 parts: 1. Our final payment that showed "pending" last Monday and then disappeared last Friday. Chase said to contact the vendor on why they pulled it back, so I e-mailed Sales Services to ask why they pulled it back. Here's the response I got: "Good day, Our Accounting department advised us this is a verification process the banks are doing for some reason. The amount appears back in your account after about 5-7 business days. Thank you for your patience." 2. Our initial deposit was on our Capital One card last August. Well, that just showed up about an hour ago on our account as "pending." So That's new. With this new update, I'm now adjusting my plan to dispute the charges this week with I'll wait another week as it seems to be progressing
  6. In ref to your info from MSC about Mon/Tues processing, I updated my plan below. I posted this on another thread, but fits here too. Big picture, I requested my refund on March 14th for an April 11th cruise. On May 19th, a refund was showing on my cc as "pending" and it stayed that way until the morning of May 23d when it disappeared... Tara619, Exact same thing happened to me on Friday, May 23d, as well. My refund was showing as "pending from May 19th up to Friday morning, May 23d. I e-mailed Chase and got their response yesterday: "Hello, thank you for contacting us. We reviewed your account and found that a return for $xxxx.xx was attempted on May 19,2020. However, the credit has dropped off your account possibly because the merchant has cancelled the refund. We recommend contacting the merchant directly to confirm the status of your credit." I e-mailed MSC sales service dept last night @ sales.service@msccruisesusa.com by hitting reply, once again, to their original refund request confirmation e-mail. They have been responding in about 2-3 days, even though their answers are boilerplate, IMO. I'm going to wait for their answer (not holding my breath, at this point). Assuming they come back without a clear response, then I will feel justified disputing the charge thru Chase credit cards as I have now followed their recommended actions to resolve this. Some others have posted MSC rep told them they process refunds on Mon & Tues of each week, so I'll probably wait until Wed to see if it shows back up before contacting Chase. These are just my plans going forward, you gotta do what fits your situation the best.

  8. Gator, Wish I had some insight for you, not sure why it appears I'm getting the bulk of my $$ back. Is it because I e-mailed the sales service section saying it'd been 60 days already and I would be refuting the charges with my cc company? Don't know as I'm sure others have said that and probably don't have their money yet, either. Frustrating process with not much clarity coming from MSC. BTW, next door in Holly Springs!
  9. Posted this on another thread, but finally see some good news from MSC. My cc account now shows a "pending" credit from MSC for my final payment amount ($6K+). Requested a refund on March 14th for an April 11th sailing. 65 days. My initial deposit was on a different cc and that one is still showing nada as far as that refund, but this finally shows progress, right?! Guess I can start looking at future cruises for next year now 🙂
  10. Good news...finally! My final payment amount is now showing as "pending" credit on my cc account! Filed for refund back on March 14th for an April 11th cruise. Yeah! My initial deposit (different cc) is not showing, yet. But, this is progress.
  11. Below is what I posted earlier on a related thread, FWIW: Here is the response I got yesterday from MSC Sales Service dept. I'm on Day 62 now, I plan on waiting until June 14th before calling my CC to refute the charges. Even in this environment, I feel like 90 days from my refund request should be ample time. "MSC is working diligently to process refund disbursements. Due to the unprecedented volume it is taking longer than anticipated. It is our intention to issue refunds as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience. Thank you."

  13. Like you, I have received my refund of taxes/port fees on a free RCL cruise that was scheduled for 26 June, but still nothing from MSC, yet.
  14. Today is 60 calendar days from when I canceled our April 11th cruise back on Mar 14th. I hit "reply" to my cancellation request confirmation e-mail from MSC asking for refund status. Will let you know what I get back...if I get anything back. In my confirmation e-mail, the wording is "Your refund will be processed within 60 days." I just checked MSC's US site and here's the identical wording, "If you choose not to take a Future Cruise Credit, a refund will be issued 60 days from the date the refund is requested." No mention of 60 "business days" or 60 days from sail date...hhmmm. Fingers crossed?
  15. Our April 11th cruise was cancelled by MSC. On March 14th, our TA submitted the refund request and I got a Cancellation # from MSC by e-mail. It did say it would be up to 60 days before seeing the refund. I e-mailed MSC (just hit reply to their e-mail) at the 30-day point asking for status. They e-mailed back saying it may take up to 60 days from the sail date to process my refund, but they are working on it. So, subtle change in wording from their first confirmation e-mail...60 days from my orig March 14th request date vs now 60 days from sail date, April 11th. Holding my breath, fingers crossed, rabbit's foot in my pocket LOL In my mind, I'm pondering that unlike the Big 3 cruise lines that have pretty much no cash coming in right now, MSC is primarily a commercial shipping company (second largest in the world?) that happens to own a cruise line, i.e. they still have cash coming in from their cargo ships. That helps me feel at least some comfort (real or imagined!) that they can follow through on the refunds...pretty please 🙂
  16. Yes, we were e-mailed that it would be 60 days and we filed on March 14th. Holding our breath and waiting for our refund....
  17. Below is the response I got after my TA submitted my refund request for our cancelled April 11th cruise on the Seaside: mscagents@msccruisesusa.com To: xxxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com Sat, Mar 14 at 12:25 PM Dear xxxxxxxxxx, Your MSC Cruise Assurance Form has been successfully submitted. Your Refund Reference Number for this request is - xxxxxxxxx Use this Reference Number for all future correspondence regarding this request. Your refund will be processed within 60 days. Thank you, MSC Cruises
  18. Yes, I would ask for eggs benedict at the poolside grill and the cook was always happy to make them. Freshly made, english muffins hot and crispy off the grill, then topped with the poached eggs and canadian bacon, sauce and delivered right to my table. Found it better than the YC dining room since it was grill-to-table pronto. Omelets should not be a problem either. And, yes, on the drinks...or so I heard from a friend LOL
  19. We've sailed Seaside YC 2x in a row and are about 1 month out from 3x. I can say I truly enjoyed the food on both cruises, so far. We did not eat outside of the YC except for our complimentary Black Card dinner. For me, if I did not see anything on the menu I desired, I just ordered the every day Filet Mignon which I found exceptional all 3 times I ordered it! Try the YC restaurant for lunch as well, very nice selection. For breakfast, we pretty much ate at the poolside buffet and they nailed my eggs benedict every morning!
  20. FWIW, if folks are looking at cabin choices, we had 16015 last summer and booked it again for April. Reason, with 4 people in our cabin, it's right across from the YC hallway bathrooms which came in verrrry handy when getting ready for dinner as they are rarely used. With 3 females in the cabin, it was like having an extra bathroom!
  21. From personal experience, very easy to get funds at the table, no fee. Sat down at 3-card poker, put my cabin card on the table, and just stated the amount I wanted. Easy, peasy! All play is in US$$. No problem on the drinks either. I tip a $5 chip each time (I seemed to be the only one at the table tipping), and I actually had to tell my waiter to slow down, hadn't finished my current drink LOL
  22. Yes, but get there early because it's the same deck above the pool with pool chairs. As folks come out, the chairs tend to intrude into the "track" lanes.
  23. We've enjoyed the service from Andrei for 2 years in a row. His assistant waiters keep getting promoted to full waiters, so he's a good teacher as well! If he's still there, he works the section to the left by the floor-to-ceiling windows as you walk in on deck 18. Great way to watch the sail away from Miami on Day 1 with his highly enjoyable service!
  24. I could not stack the Diamond (formerly Black) status discount (5%) with my military discount (10%) last year, but I could stack my Diamond discount with our offered 30% Casino discount for this year's cruise.
  25. Yes, we too have noticed YC prices have increased, but still cheaper than NCL Haven. We are booked for our third Seaside YC cruise this spring for right at the same price we paid for last summer's YC Seaside cruise. However, this year's cruise was booked with a 30% casino discount + Voyagers Club 5% discount to come out at the same price point. Having said that, NCL Haven is pretty close to 2X the price for the same cruise itinerary. We luv NCL, but we LUV MSC YC experience sooo much more!
