So we finally made it to Cartagena!  The captain had the pedal to the metal all night long trying to get us here on time.  But we did with no problems.  For an older ship, Radiance runs smoothly and fast!

Here I am in Cartagena!  It was very hot (91 degrees) and humid.

Today we have the Amazing Cartagena Bay and Walled City tour.

    IMG_4546.thumb.jpeg.6cf7749d532b71770ac038d16f2b3b80.jpeg

We did the walking tour first and saw several churches and beautiful balconies.

There were several metal sculptures like this around the old town.

    IMG_4602.thumb.jpeg.25eea21248ac7fea6f378f375af9d210.jpeg

We stopped at an emerald jewelry store to use the bathrooms and buy jewelry (we did not buy any).  They also had these cool displays in the back of the store.

    IMG_4605.thumb.jpeg.c0ee02ebab88451b840b3cabc9e168f4.jpeg

We then had 25 minutes of shopping before heading to the boat tour.

    IMG_4606.thumb.jpeg.ee490228bfa5145e865e5c9220487e04.jpeg

We almost got boarded by a bunch of pirates!

    IMG_4570.thumb.jpeg.0763e3e8b08bf91389ced6efc912872c.jpeg

Our boat had two levels.  We sat on the bottom since most people were heading for the 2nd deck.

    IMG_4571.thumb.jpeg.f484e71af67a62e9cc667d4903d33b7b.jpeg

We were given either a rum & Coke, a regular Coke (no Diet Coke) or water.  Then the had a local dance display.

    IMG_4608.thumb.jpeg.d332cc1e94ad80f5dfa3703be520f64b.jpeg

The tour was a bit disappointing.  I thought they were going to show us the massive stone walls from the water.  But all they did was take us to the port area to see the cruise ships.

    IMG_4580.thumb.jpeg.e3d1a11886742bc1dcf21bf7bc5c87fa.jpeg

Then we boarded our bus to go back to the ship.  In order to get to the ship you need to go through Port Oasis.  I’ll let the photos tell the story.

We boarded the shuttle bus to take us to the ship.  This is where you catch it outside of the store.

That’s it for today.  Tomorrow is Colon, Panama and we have a 7 hour shopping tour in Panama City.  See you then!

Love your pictures;  most especially the one of the Sunset.  Gorgeous!  We toured with "Dora the Explorer" while in Cartagena last month while cruising on the Beyond for our Panama Canal cruise.

Happy Birthday to William.Do you remember when you were 13 ?

When I was 13 I began traveling by subway to Coney Island and Manhattan.

Thank you so much, Lenny!  Being the third of eight kids, I was pretty independent and traveled all  over half of the Island on my bike by age 13.😉

We docked in Tianjin yesterday and those of us on the included excursions had a choice of going to either just the Great Wall (and having a shorter, more manageable day), or the Forbidden City and the Great Wall (which was about a 17-hour excursion). My husband and I did the latter one. It was a long day -- we didn't get back aboard the ship until about 1 am. We went first to lunch, then the Forbidden City where our guide spent about two hours telling us about it. We then went to dinner and after the sun set, we drove to the Badaling section of the Great Wall.  We didn't know it until our guide told us, but the Great Wall is usually only open at night in the summer months. They had it open especially for this Royal Caribbean cruise, and the only people on it last night were those of us who went on this excursion! We were *very impressed* with how Royal Caribbean handled this included experience.  Both lunch and dinner were fabulous as well with lots of choices in food served "family style" as they do in China. And not only was the Great Wall open for us, but they had groups of performers doing dances, including dragon dances, and music, to welcome us as we entered the area. The souvenir shops were also open so we could get a souvenir. We could not be more impressed with how things went yesterday. Kudos to Royal Caribbean!

Your pictures are outstanding!  Thank you!  I love both Royal Caribbean as well as Celebrity, but I will say that Royal's excursions were much better than the Celebrity excursions we've done.

Well done, RCCL on the Great Wall of China experience for your cruisers!

We'll just do knockdown.  We're doing a light gray over the walls and ceilings, with a darker gray with a bluish tint accent wall in the living room, master bedroom, and master bath.

    You're getting there!

DH’s nephew has unfortunately joined the Canadian broken bones club.  He broke his femur on the last session of the last day of the ski season at his resort in BC.

Oh my gosh!  Is he okay?

Busy day yesterday. Took the train into the city. BTW, trains in and out of the city are also the beneficiary of the 3/4 of one cent per gallon of gas tax so figured I should get my moneys worth.😀 Plus, I hate driving & parking in the city.

Anyways, festivities included attending the New York Auto Show with my nephew to begin the day and ended with attending the New York Ranger game. Final game of my regular season package, an impressive 5-2 win over Montreal. Next game for me will be playoff, sometime after April 20th.

In between, I spent an hour waiting on line to buy a 4 pack of Solar Eclipse glasses from B&H Video. No exaggeration, the line stretched an entire city block, around the corner, down another city block to the end. As long as you got on the line before the stores 6:00 pm closing time, they would let you in. Once inside, the line zig-zagged up and down every aisle until it finally divided into two, for those that pre-ordered online and those (like me) that did not.  The pre-order pickup line was 10 times longer than mine so I lucked out there.  Of course, good old American capitalism was alive and well as some people would buy a few 10 packs, step outside & then sell the individual glasses to those waiting on line for $10 for one pair of glasses that cost $1. And people were buying them!!!  Someone told me he was heading over to Time Square where he knows he could get $20 per pair.

And in between all that, I found time to grab 2 beers at an Irish Pub and watch the beginning of the Catlin Clark show.  I know very little of basketball and even less of college basketball but she looked like a pretty good player. 🙂

It sounds like it was a great day all-around!

I do admit that you had to be a contortionist to squeeze through some places.

One small cave we went in, we found this guy trying to squeeze through this opening.

He did make it through, but not without help.  We opted to go back out the way we came in.

    You and Susan amaze me!

You and us too.... We walked with our carry on from the Premier Inn, through the Holiday Inn's parking lot, to the pier. Checked the route the evening before, since someone posted about this possibility to cross through HI's parking lot.

BUT, for "regular" people it might not be a "viable" option.

Oh, you mean people like Jim and I?  🤔   LOL

Hi Graham!  65 and mild sounds good!  Jim and I just came home from a Naples Sunset (beautiful, of course), but it was pretty breezy and cool;  not to mention the beach was packed with people!  We didn't  realize it was Saturday evening😉
