  1. Start checking price drops after final payment date. If you booked directly with HAL (PCC or web) you can call and ask for an upsell. If you booked through a TA you will need to go through them, but the answer may be no. :*Editing to clarify: if you booked directly with HAL the odds are they will do their best to give you a deal. If you booked through a TA you may have different results.
  2. We haven’t received anything, yet, but I’m watching my email!! The roll call is pretty much nonexistent.
  3. Your sailing is probably more popular as it’s a long weekend.
  4. Agree with @crystalspin that it’s probably the 12th and the 20th. You can always reschedule your reservations if it turns out to be another date. See you onboard! 😉
  5. Club Orange is only of value for the non-Neptune Suite guests dining (breakfast and supper) with Neptune Suite guests if you are on a Pinnacle-Class ship (Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Koningsdam).
  6. I am very sad to hear of the missing crew member. How very devastating for all. 😢
  7. Check the upper right-hand corner of your phone. If you see see 4G, LTE, or 4G LTE, your phone will continue to work in the US.
  8. Assuming your Canada/NE itinerary begins in Baltimore, you can submit the ArriveCAN info then. I would download it, now, and load the documents while you are still at home. Then when you board the ship to head to Canada you can easily submit the ArriveCAN arrival information. You will need to know your first port in Canada, and the entry date, in order to complete it. Your ship will require the negative covid test to board so maybe connect with your roll-calls to see what others are doing.
  9. One more thing to note about Porter: Sign up to be on their email distribution list. The best sales are going to be available through email only. Otherwise you will pay the higher advertised rate. If you haven’t received a promo email when you’re looking to purchase a flight, go to their site and look for a flight that you’re interested in. Their cookies will pick it up and generate a promo email within a day or two. Or log into your account and choose the flights you’re interested in but don’t check out. They’ll send you an email asking if you want to complete your purchase, which will also generate a promo. Just make sure you hit the promo link in the email or the website won’t pick it up.
  10. If you use a walker you will need to contact Porter to arrange for assistance. It is a long distance from the entrance to the terminal. I am not sure if your cab will take you directly to the terminal on the ferry, where you will also require assistance. Use the links below to make your arrangements and ask your questions. 11. I was a little concerned that I would hate transatlantics before I did one. What I discovered was that I enjoyed the forced downtime and the multiple days at sea. With regard to the itinerary: I much prefer the westbound TA’s, over the eastbound, for three reasons: 1. You gain an hour going westbound every two days (+/-) as opposed to losing an hour every two days going eastbound. 2. The weather is much warmer going westbound. Going eastbound, in the Spring, things are still trying to warm up. 3. There are multiple ports to visit before you set out across the Atlantic, giving you the opportunity to rest afterwards. With an eastbound, your multiple ports come at the end of the itinerary so you’re resting before they come.
  12. I doubt Canada will be lifting that restriction in 2022. Agreed that your only course is to hope. 😂
  13. The random airport testing also applies to land borders. I, too, hope that goes away, as I am apparently a target for “random” testing. 🙄 I don’t think you’re going to see ArriveCAN going away but I do see it morphing into a conduit/data collection point for advance customs declarations and e-pass. (Where “e-pass” consists of facial recognition, trusted traveler and passport information, arrival & departure records, alerts & flags, and financial transactions.)
  14. Yay! Can’t wait to hear you’ve boarded the ship with luggage!!
  15. Thank you for the heads up. I haven’t been following that thread but it looks like now I should. Glad you are enjoying your cruise.
  16. I was doing a TA with my parents a few years ago. We had the 5:30 seating because my Mum likes to eat early. There was a couple at the 2-top next to us who showed up 20 minutes late one evening. They arrived at “their” table to find another couple already seated there. They raised a stink but I was happy to hear them being told that it’s only “their” table if they get there without 15 minutes of their assigned time. They never showed up late again. 🤭
  17. The dry air on flights and indoor AC cause the nasal passages to dry out. Use a saline nasal spray to moisturize and help protect against infection.
  18. It’s been years since they egregiously “done me wrong”. I have neither forgotten nor forgiven.
  19. Assuming you are joining the ship on Tuesday, could you do the online tests? Alternatively, do you have time to get one in Juneau? COVID Testing: Juneau, AK
  20. You don’t think the circumstances the OP is currently posting about are enough of a “firm warning”? @LoraJ, I am happy to hear you will be boarding in Juneau but that is certainly frustrating with regard to your luggage. I hope it works out in the end. Make sure you let Guest Services know (if they haven’t already been made aware). It’s possible they can offer assistance with regard to clothing and toiletries. Have a wonderful, and stress-free, remainder of your trip!
  21. It goes without saying that revenue is always a prime motivator.
  22. In my experience, the smaller airlines using the smaller planes almost always check and enforce the size and weight of the carry-ons. They just can’t accommodate them in the passenger cabin.
  23. CO is purchased during the booking process so there’s no extra time involved. For example, when talking to HAL to make a booking it goes like this: PCC: Which category room would you like? Me: Verandah with Club Orange. PCC: Okay. Which room would you like?
