  1. Statements like the above highlight that you haven’t sailed on any of HAL’s Pinnacle-class ships.
  2. You could also contact the Mariner Society and they will help out: Mariner_Society@hollandamerica.com 800-547-9139
  3. No reservation required but it’s open only to Neptune and Pinnacle Suite guests. It follows the same menu and hours as the main dining room.
  4. Yes, you do have to request the French press coffee but, as @Cruising-along says, the pastries are brought automatically. Have fun!
  5. One thing to consider WRT Montreal disembarkations: sometimes the water levels are too high in the river for even the smaller HAL ships, in which case you will disembark in QC and be bussed to MontrĂŠal. (Or vice versa if you are embarking.)
  6. Use Google Flights to explore your options. Take a B2B or longer Boston-Boston cruise for your return flight back. Take Via Rail to MontrĂŠal for your preferred itinerary.
  7. The length of time it takes for me to readjust to land is one to two weeks, depending on length of cruise and marine conditions.
  8. If Boston is “home”, put yourself on Porter’s email list to get the best deals and avoid the nightmare that is Toronto Pearson: FLY PORTER
  9. Where is “home”? We took a flat-rate taxi to the airport, Porter Airlines to Toronto, then on to our final destination (Washington, DC). The train is also a good option. Of course, that depends on where you’re going. 🙂
  10. @RuthC has the correct answer in that Main is the 2nd fixed seating.
  11. I have a North America plan but kept it in airplane mode when we were at sea. I found that was plenty sufficient due to the number of ports, but I am not tied to technology when I don’t need to work. Check your provider for Cellular at Sea coverage/charges because that’s what your phone is going to connect to once it loses local services. Turn off data roaming if you don’t want it to perform updates and synchronization in the background.
  12. Your key cards will be in an envelope in the “mailbox” outside your cabin door.
  13. Sorry you couldn’t find the icon to submit comments on the Navigator app because the crew receives the recognition right away. Check your junk mailbox for the survey. Sometimes I find it there. If you get one, it usually arrives within a few days. Sometimes they aren’t sent at all.
  14. When you disembark a cruise in Vancouver you are entering Canada. When you fly from Canada to the US, you are entering the US. Flying was the only transport left where you needed a negative covid test so, no matter which way you enter, you will no longer need a test.
  15. Sadly, it is a much greater problem than that. Their reservations system does not allow for traditional dining (same time; same table) so it must be done manually, leaving the staff constantly having to fight the technology. On our sailing, they just gave up. Case in point:
  16. Having experienced the same misery, I literally LOL’d when I read this. 😂
  17. That is because it is tied to your passport and they (CBSA) have already checked everything out prior to your arrival. If the information hadn’t been submitted it would have been time for a conversation.
  18. Nope, you’re good! Have a great trip!
  19. Actually, your post wasn’t that misleading, @Fouremco, because it’s the same concept with regard to change in information. Sometimes it’s just as simple as having your passport verified at check-in. Especially if it’s been renewed. Also, if your husband has a similar name to someone who has come to the attention of law enforcement, they will need that extra step to clear the flag.
  20. I had an issue with a testing centre, called to speak with a supervisor, and received my refund. At the very least you will have brought it to a supervisor’s attention to be handled internally after you have completed your call.
  21. Wow! What a nightmare. I would certainly pursue compensation from the testing centre. Glad to hear you enjoyed your cruise. Welcome to HAL!
  22. Hmm. My father and I had an appointment for passport renewal in November. I got expedited service (travel in Less than 10 Business Days) and my father was offered the same service, even though he was not traveling. Even though he did not get the expedited service, he received his by mail within two weeks. Maybe you’ll receive it quickly also.
