  1. Never experienced your time dining, how bad is it for a table for two? On wait list for early seating but not holding out much hope getting it for our cruise Aug./Sept. Thanks for the posts, enjoy your cruise.
  2. Is this a standard balcony? We have 8445 in Sept. we happy with the outlets, no shower curtain, and heard they have mini fridges. Thank you Saint Greg for posting.
  3. Been watching on the board here a couple videos plus You Tube has a couple. Got to see a standard balcony which is all we could get this trip. Glad we changed from the Terraza we originally planned on going to be to loud for us in the aft cabins and not private in the side cabins. Ports are new for us as well but not planning on doing much this trip is for the ship. Looking on the port boards anyway maybe something will interest us. Laura
  4. Wow roll calls for this ship have very few responses, I'm surprised. Well I have noticed a difference in posts over the last couple of years, folks are really just getting back to cruising. Been watching video clips about this ship on another site. Very muted compared to other ships in the decor. Folks are doing live postings on the Carnival board and at lease one has posted some cabin photos. My outlet questions have been answered 😊. If you find it in your heart give a silent thanks to all those who gave their all so we could be free to enjoy cruising and so much more. Stay safe, Laura
  5. Have a wonderful cruise, thank you in advance for you views and information. We are sailing Aug.31st. and could only get a balcony cabin even six months out. Looking forward to hearing about MDRs and entertainment.
  6. We take the Amtrak from Boston to Moynihan Train Hall now (Penn Station). Several folks are staying at Holiday Inn Express West on 48th. Street. We haven't flown to NY but the east coast board has lots of answers to this question.
  7. We booked six months out and are waitlisted for early seating had to take YTD, not happy got stuck with similar dining on another cruise line and it was horrid. Hope Carnival does this better not a fan of long waits and we do not use cell phones so no apps.
  8. They have a separate department you need to contact prior to cruising. Check special needs section. I needed this on another line but as I use the Inogen when traveling there was no issue. They just told me if extension cord was to be used it couldn't have a surge protector.
  9. Well I like pre paying tips, service charge, or crew appreciation they all call it something different. I was always concerned I missed somebody and also didn't like taking extra cash for the envelopes. If cabin steward, waiters, bar staff make my vacation special they get additional last evening of the trip as well as cards or whatever the line uses.
  10. So if we book the Monkeyland and Puerto Plata tour it will be near the Amber Cove port we are docking at on Carnival? Thanks
  11. We have 103 days to go. Rethinking staying overnight on the 30th. If we take a 5:00AM train to NY still cool enough out for the tracks and will be in the city before 9AM. We could drop bags at the port and go visit the Intrepid for a few hours. I'm thinking we could go to breakfast then the port area. The Intrepid should take us a few hours so will still not board until 1-1:30PM. Can't lug the carry on around Intrepid just our pack packs so need to make some decisions before final payment in a couple weeks. I checked they no longer have a holding area for our bags. We used this years ago after a cruise prior to our late train back to Boston. Have a good weekend, Laura
  12. Getting to the double digits pretty quick. TA was having trouble getting us a room at the Holiday Inn Express near the port. She was going to check back today. I told her we just want a clean and quiet place to sleep the day prior. I need to be close enough to leave our bags and walk to the port area to visit the Intrepid then go back to retrieve our bags return to the port after 1:00. Check out here is 11:00 and check in is at 3:00. Have to check our train times generally arrive between noon and one. So shouldn't be much of a wait to check in by the time we get a taxi etc. Need to buckle down and check out things to do at each port. I'm wishy washy on booking something or just walking around the port area maybe have a little lunch then head back to the ship. Questions for the day. Anybody else arriving prior to the cruise and staying near the port? Anybody book shore excursions through Carnival before? We did years ago with the boys don't recall any issues with this cruise line. Anybody been to HMC before? Thinking maybe we will just stay on board. Have a great dah, Laura
  13. Booked the Spa Balcony, hubby likes the spa idea. I love my sea days and the Getaway is the ship closest to the QE2 returning to NY from Southampton three days after we dock there on the Getaway. Thanks again for the great advice, of course if a spa haven were to open we would look at that.
  14. This board is so kind, such nice thoughts for somebody else. Prayers to him and his family.
  15. This is awesome sounds like you will have a great group. Hubby is a little concerned staying in NY as we haven't been in years, but it's not lime we will be roaming around, I don't even plan to go to Carmine's in the theater district this trip. Just Amtrak from Boston to Moynihan Train Hall (new part of Penn across the street). We generally grab a cab to the port from there, but would go to the hotel if TA can get us a room there or something just as close by. Only 108 days to go, been watching for all Venezia info. Laura
  16. Thank you we are finally sailing on QM2 because I can't fly any longer and what better way to get back to US.
  17. I feel better we use to like dressing up for the theater and on Princess. Now we dress smart casual and skip formal evenings. He will wear a dark suit to dinner and we will have other arrangements on formal nights. Me I always look for a reason to buy a few new cocktail dresses for vacation 😉.
  18. Thank you very much didn't think of a sheltered balcony will check that out. We just like the sea air or would just do an ocean view for a TA.
  19. Looking at Cunard to get back to the US as I can't fly. My husband doesn't own a tux does that mean we can't use the main dining rooms for dinner some nights? As we are sailing from US to Southampton then back the extra luggage for his suit isn't an issue. He's not thrilled with the idea because we have been doing smart casual only for so long. Me I'm easy just a cocktail dress and I'm done. Also are jeans acceptable during the day except at tea of course? I'm looking at just a simple balcony cabin even though the cruise is only a TA in May. Thanks we generally sail Princess or NCL so this level is new for us.
  20. Welcome to our little group. You will need to share all your information from your June/July cruise. Thanks for the wheel chair tip I have been working hard to avoid using one. I have IPF so am on oxygen which is why no beach for me, the sand clogs my filters. Have a great day, Laura
  21. Will be following your posts, well everybody's post. Haven't been on Carnival in years (no reason just not going where and when I wanted) saw this ship in an add and booked. Unfortunately not until March but plan to have a wonderful cruise. Looking forward to this beautiful ship. Thanks
  22. Thank you for posting this question. I have emailed our TA to look at a room the day prior to our cruise. Not sure which terminal Carnival Venezia will sail from but don't think k it will be much difference.
  23. Wow thanks for this post, looking forward to the MDR in Sept. Some of these items sound wonderful. Love bread pudding can't wait to try theirs.
  24. Thank you everybody. No Haven spa cabins open at this time but have TA watching.
