  1. Heavens no, my bulter is called to close the curtains every evening of course.
  2. We are in YC as well please contact my agent for my hourly rate if you want me to be included in your live broadcast.
  3. At embarkation in the United States security is not handled by the ship. Scanning is done by port contractors.Since Port Carnavial is an embarkcation port even though the ship might be calling as a port of call they use the contractors. Different contracting/ports enforce the rules differently so always when someone asks can I bring chocolate milk or Titos on board it is Your Mileage May Vary YMMV type of answer other than the official MSC Contract of Carriage "NO".
  4. Which ship? They have a few you know. For MSC Meraviglia cabin walls and door are magnetic.
  5. So, armchair lawyers, the OP boarded at the embarkation port. Are they entitled to embarkation port fees and taxes back or only the ports they didn't visit?
  6. 18 posts before someone said Interlopers...
  7. Not just MSC, Royal and Carnival missed their Bahama private island calls because of the wind/tides as well.
  8. NYC Ferry operated by Hornblower on the East River between Brooklyn/Queens and Manhattan boats are not assigned seats. It is a double-hull catamaran. The lower deck that you board over a ramp has indoor seating divided by two isles. Some seats face each other with a table between them. There is also a small refreshment stand selling food/snacks/beverages including adult drink variants. If you walk through aft to the rear and outside you can climb stairs to the upper deck where there is limited outside seating. No one is allowed to stand on the front of the boat when it is underway and the stairs on the front from the upper deck are usually only used to exit at Wall Street. Only the DUMBO route get very crowded in the Summer with tourists that the boat gets to capacity and people are refused boarding from my experience. YMMV The best way is to purchase your ticket on their phone app but ticket machines are at every pier that take cash and credit card. If you are using a physical ticket you need to ask for a transfer (might have changed, long time since I transferred). Disabled and Senior fares you need to register for and are not available for purchase just by walking up. Yes, there are lines at the pier queued up by the destination. First come first served and standees are allowed. $4 fare one way. From New Jersey: People are confusing this ferry service with the one to Ikea and/or to/from New Jersey which is operated by New York Waterway and uses different types of boats and mainly operates across the Hudson River (North River for nautical types). You could go on NY Waterway ferry to Peir 11 Wall Street and by a separate ticket for NYC Ferry from Wall St to Red Hook Atlantic Basin but the pier 11 NY Waterway service runs on weekdays and is limited times fare ranges from $8.50 to $13.50 Example Hoboken to Wall St is $8.50 weekdays only 7 departures from Hoboken between 6 and 9:50.
  9. Cruise in your maiden name, your birth certificate and ID in that name are fine. If you have ID in your new name you need a bridging document like the marriage license to show the name change and match the birth certificate. Passports take a long time and you have to send in your birth certificate so I would stick without the passport as long as you know all the warning people will remind you about not flying without a passport in case of an emergency. Permanent resident w/o a green card issue, you need an official answer from MSC, the US Government, and the countries you are visiting.
  10. If you have 2 devices for each adult that is four devices or one per person in your party. My wife only had her phone. I had Phone, Tablet and Laptop. For the laptop I signed in under her account to assign the WiFi to that device. Just have one adult log their account on the child's device, there is no need to purchase more access unless you have more than four devices.
  11. Since carry luggage is inspected by contractors at boarding you may have a better chance of bringing liquids onboard. I don't know about the large luggage scanner that is behind the scenes (Manhattan Cruise Terminal you can see it as you exit on the lower level) if someone from the cruise line is observing the scans. This is probably why you get posts about people saying they did bring on soda or their soda was confiscated. From my personal experience at Port Canaveral, the hand luggage was being stopped with people bringing cases of soda back (12 packs) at the port of call stop (not embarkation). The security was off-ship being done by a contractor. YMMV
  12. Meraviglia Yacht Club they asked "Still or Sparkling" for still they always brought over a bottle (glass) of that Italian water and poured it, cloth-wrapped bottle and all, in front of us.
  13. The "auto gratuities" are the same amount no matter the experience level. You can go to customer service and remove them hence they are not mandatory. People are known to tip extra in the Yacht Club and people have not tipped extra. It is up to you and what service you perceive is above and beyond what they collect as "gratuities" If I got pizza delivered to the cabin at 2 am every night, I might throw a little extra to the butler but that's me. Damm munchies!
  14. Then contact special needs and say you need it for a medical reason and you wouldn't be violating any rules. Or try to sneak it on like other people do, some are successful and some I've seem it confiscated at the x-ray machine. What is so hard about following what you agreed to in your cruise contract?
  15. And not in the Yacht Club. I found the Filet in YC better than butchers cut from the experience menu. Probably will not go to the butchers cut if I'm in YC but may go there if not in YC.
  16. Luggage accidents happen. Actually witness a baggage cage go in the water at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal and met the one of people that had a salt water wash of their clothes and an open seating breakfast. I've also been on a cruise that returned to MCT for a medical evacuation (crew member fell down the stairs). Waiting on the pier was an ambulance and about 15 large suitcases that some lucky people didn't have to wait two days for. This is why there is no dress up on the first night, people get luggage late into the sailing.
  17. Answer is in your cruise contract which is NO. MSC does not allow you to bring liquids on board no matter how they are packaged, bottle, can or wine box. Now other people who post that they were able to bring them on board carry on or checked means the decision is up to you to follow the rules or not and pay the consequences or reap the reward.
  18. Parking at MCT you can't beat the convenience. The lot is only open when ships are in port and you keep your keys. I know SIL scared us by setting her alarm off from her balcony. As @princeton123211 says other Manhattan garages are allowed to move your car and are not that much cheaper (plus 18.375% tax). You can even have a porter take your bags up to the parking level at MCT instead of dragging them or circling around dropping bags and then driving a few avenues distance to park. Can't drive too far east as you will get near Broadway Theaters and pay $45 an hour, not a day.
  19. Not a starter in the sense of Public transportation but a "greeter" that holds a sign, checks a list, communicates on a radio and does make you stand around. I assume that they have set times the bus is supposed to arrive at the terminal and/or can call them back for a late arrival. I also have been told people very late they would put them in a cab instead of getting another bus but I haven't experienced this. I no longer use cruise line transportation when cruising outside of my home ports so this is all pre-covid.
  20. In addition, they may have one bus that will visit all the terminals instead of having four buses one for each terminal. It does take a while to get to/from Terminal A for Spirit and Frontier. Doubt it is one bus sitting and waiting more likely a greeter and then load and go at a certain time.
  21. You are in the Yacht Club, simple answer to most questions is "Ask your Butler". It is amazing what they come up with for an answer and most of the time it is yes. Do give them time to make arrangments and not ask as you are being escorted off the ship to the island.
  22. I assume older ship? Nothing new can pass under the Key Bridge.
  23. That's the second person to post they got in a medallion cab and were offered a set price. Technically if and T&LC Encorcement Officer sees a cab with passengers without the "flag" dropped (lights on the roof show the condition of the meter) they can be ticketed unless the off duty light is on. Flat fee and even the extra fees to airport or New Jersey are all entered on the meter. Trips to/from LGA should be Rate 01. Standard fare by mileage and time: The on-screen rate message should read: "Rate #01 – Standard City Rate." The JFK Flat Rate Code: The on-screen rate message should read "Rate #2- JFK Airport." For EWR and the extra $20: The on-screen rate message should read "Rate #3 - Newark Airport."
  24. Just to add you can usually see a Theater and Carousel show both on the same night, the timing works out just the walk from one end of the ship to the other LOL.
  25. First thing check-in times are not enforced. The ship won't be cleared at 9:30a so you would not even be allowed to board. Check-in yes, not board. Second, your boarding time may and in most likely will change, mine did 7 times from your time to 30 minutes before the advertised sailing time which would not let me board as they have to submit the manifest to Homeland Security 60 to 90 minutes prior to sailing. Third, what is your sailing time and what is the cutoff time for check in two totally separate things.
