  1. 16 for me, and no matter which side your cabin is on there is a door from the Top Sail Lounge to the cabin hallway I can exit the lounge and go right to my cabin. I had 16001 once so I didn't have to stumble far to my bed.
  2. Orginal BC means it is not a copy issued by a government agency where ever you get Vital Records where the birth occurred. Not always a state agency it can be from a local municipality. A lot of places do not have a raised seal anymore so as long as it is from a government agency and not a copy you will be fine.
  3. I was in 16001 and loved the access from the lounge right to our cabin hallway. Next time on boad I will have to stumble a little further as we are in 16005. Can't beat exiting the lounge right into your cabin's hallway/ The port side is closer to the piano, and had no issue with noise from the lounge.
  4. My first cruise ever was on a Sovereign Class ship Monarch of the Seas in 1995 sadly has gone to the Breakers but I might plan a nostalgic cruise if they use Majesty. Back then they were the largest cruise ships afloat at 73,000 GT compared to Wonder of the Seas at 236,000 GT LOL.
  5. The back will be gold unless you are in the Yacht Club and then the back will have the YC symbol I believe.
  6. @DaKahuna the app uses the ships Intranet you don't need a WiFi plan to use the app but your device has to join the WiFi. Only works for guests onboard that allow it. Those on your booking are there but there is a way to add others not on your booking I believe. Didn' have to do that so not 100% sure.
  7. Coming up the outside stairs and defeating the lock on the gate, heck I watched a ship crew member do it to get access to paint something, to watch the light show when there ae no Yacht Club services (pool closed, bar closed, no towels etc) is one thing. Coming in and using the services, free drinks/food etc. is another IMHO. The latter can cause my price to go up for those services. Now if those interlopers were smoking weed.... Oops that's another thread here...
  8. Uber has brought back UberX Share and may show up as an option when you put in for a ride. I do not know if it is available from airports but it pops up at home. YMMV
  9. Texting does not work for minors in the MSC App. You could log an adult into the app on the minor's phone but you would have to add something to the text identifying the sender.
  10. Take Uber/Lyft there is still the $2.50 drop-off fee plus tolls. No toll river crossing to NJ but you have to pay the toll for the yellow cab to come back to NYC. Uber/Lyft you do not. NYC Yellow Cab from NYC to EWR: Standard metered fare. Plus $20.00 Newark Surcharge. Plus tip and tolls to and from EWR (passengers are charged for the drivers’ return tolls). The on-screen rate message should read "Rate #3 - Newark Airport."
  11. The walk from the ferry landing to the entrance of the terminal is shorter than walking from one end of the ship to the other.
  12. Last December we had a low of 10F and a high of 65F, so your guess is as good as any New Yorker. The average Hi/Low was 49/38 last year for the month. The best bet is a yellow cab from JFK which is a flat fee plus tip and toll but yellow cab you can direct them to not take a toll route unlike livery or ride share. Dial 7 car service would be around $90 plus tip and any toll. Even in December, the NYC Ferry will run from Pier 11 Wall Street to Red Hook just yards away from the ship. The ferry is heated so that is an option for you at $4 a person. There are plenty of threads here about it. Options are the same Uber, Yellow Cab or Car Service.
  13. Tunnels to Towers race uses the Hugh Carey/Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to run from Red Hook to the Twin Tower memorial (hence the name). Traffic will very much be impacted around the tunnel. One of the times to cross over from Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge or further north. MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will fully close to traffic on Sunday, Sept. 26, from 7:45 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m. to accommodate the City’s annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run, commemorating the FDNY firefighter’s run through the tunnel to the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. https://newwest.mta.info/press-release/hugh-l-carey-tunnel-closed-sunday-sept-26-annual-stephen-siller-tunnel-towers-run
  14. This is only one experience but my boarding in May was a mess of cars and I just handed my checked bags to a porter, tipped him instead of dragging it over to the tent since I was let out right at the YC check-in. My bags beat me to my cabin and I got to the cabin around 1p after having lunch. YMMV
  15. I believe you can go every lunch and dinner if you get a reservation and pay the full menu price.
  16. From my observed experience, I guess this was a friend but I didn't know them and they sat at our table at the Teppanyaki restaurant, the couple entered to be seated with glasses in hand. They were asked to stop outside to finish their drink before being seated at the table. YMMV for your friend.
  17. I lost count of how many emails with new check-in times. The ship was scheduled to sail 3p I had check-in times as early as 9a and as late as 2p which is past the deadline for MSC to submit the manifest for a 3p sailing. The ship's horn sounded a little pass 4p.
  18. That's pretty darn quick for a Husband to do something with standard nagging, you got a keeper.
  19. For those panicking about the marathon here is the route: https://prodsitecore.blob.core.windows.net/nyrrsitecoreblob/nyrr/pdf/race-course-maps/tcsnycm23_map_course_082223_rd6.pdf
  20. The runners on all three races pass Atlantic Terminal from 4th Ave they turn left onto Flatbush Ave then right onto Lafayette Street so you need to time your trip to after the majority of the runners pass mile 8 of the race. I would think it would be an issue to get transportation there. For those panicking about the marathon here is the route: https://prodsitecore.blob.core.windows.net/nyrrsitecoreblob/nyrr/pdf/race-course-maps/tcsnycm23_map_course_082223_rd6.pdf
  21. I had three devices and Mrs. Brightonline had only her phone. I knew her ID/Password she set for her two-device plan so logged my third device on with her account. Andriod WiFi calling worked with the browse plan dependent on weather and ship position even was able to stream on occasion with the browse plan. Didn't do much of the later so don't rely on that.
  22. From the Hugh Carry Tunnel (Formerly named Brooklyn Battery Tunnel) from Manhattan you can get to the terminal without crossing the path of the Marathon which is down 4th Ave in Brooklyn well past Red Hook Area. It actually will pass some previously suggested subway stops to get off and take Uber. including Atlantic Ave and Fourth Ave intersection.
  23. NYC Public School Recess 2023/2024, due to Passover falling so late Spring Recess is split. November 23–24 Thursday– Friday Thanksgiving Recess, schools closed December 25–January 1 Monday– Monday Winter Recess, schools closed February 19– 23 Monday– Friday Midwinter Recess, schools closed March 29–April 1 Friday–Monday Easter Weekend, schools closed April 22–30 Monday– Tuesday Spring Recess, schools closed
  24. Well according to the Concierge he said it did matter and the color of our cards matched what the ships system had which was wrong. The system he looked up on his phone which I assume is land based system and the Voyager web page I had access to had us at gold. Ship system I was blue or on my first cruise and wife was silver. We have never sailed without out each other so I had no clue how we could be different on the ship. Your experience, I'm glad, was different. The Concierge even said he should change the cards as I was just asking what they had us in the system as. He said changing the cards is the only real proof what status we were if the systems didn't match. I think this points to how shoreside and shipside are so disconnected for MSC. You can't even place a restaurant reservation before boarding and it is a whole other topic to talk about getting the perks you preselect in Yacht Club not getting them without asking is different for some guests and not others.
  25. My booking was correct, wife an I both Gold. Our sail cards I got Blue and wife got Silver. The check in person at the Yacht Club desk is just a contractor hired by the port so couldn't do anything. After sailing on another day went to the Yacht Club concierge showed him our Voyager club web page and he had to go on the ships computer and then another system on his phone to change everything. Took almost a 20 minutes to do it all. He then created new cards for us, but now the wrist bands wouldn't work as they are tied to your sail and sign card. The bands had to be updated from the ships computer at the concierge desk (wife wasn't with me). Wife's band didn't work until then and of course her wrong color card stopped working as well.
