  1. Yes, I know that this one is in Cartagena, Colombia. I have been there. Maybe, re-read the entire conversation between myself and the person I quoted. I taught contemporary world cultures for 30 years, so I really do know the difference. We were talking about walkable cities, so the individual I was quoting understood what I was saying; sorry you did not understand that. However, if I am wrong, please always feel free to let me know. I wrote that Cartagena (same name) was a very walkable city in Spain, even mentioned my photo taken in Spain. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  2. Cartagena, Spain(not Columbia)would be perfect for that walk. It can be confusing, as these cities are so different. Photo below:
  3. We have hiked the Na Pali cliffs twice on Kauai. Except for lots of mud one time, it was a very enjoyable experience. Even Molokai was quite interesting, especially about the Leper Colony...the views were absolutely gorgeous. I certainly agree that doing a land adventure is a thorough experience, but it just depends on your reasons for going by ship or by land. Hawaii is a wonderful destination with so many things to see and do, much better than the Caribbean, IMHO.
  4. Not in today’s world you wouldn’t; however, Cartagena, Spain is quite nice, very walkable and no one gets “in your face.”
  5. I was on her too; dressed up every night for dinner. I believe we were in an Ocean view cabin along with a table for eight. We were all around the same age and loved it!
  6. I have been on two Apex cruises; one in Europe and a TA. Both were great, so I have booked two more in Europe with one of those a TA. I have never had a bad cruise in Europe, especially after being on so many different itineraries, some even twice. One cruise is 11 days in an SV, the TA in a suite. We will most likely participate in MoveUp, if the opportunity cost is good. The price for the European cruise, in a suite, was way too much, IMHO, but the TA was much more reasonable. I absolutely love the aft, looking at the wake in a chair because Celebrity took away the loungers! 🤪 We are also doing a comparison cruise/TA on Oceania; Miami to Portugal, so will compare the two TA’s, as fairly, as possible for future bookings. This will be my first time doing Europe twice in the same year, in the spring, and in the fall!😀
  7. He has a boot for his achilles on one leg, not to mention a walker. The other leg has a ripped tendon, along with other damage. The achille’s leg also has a knee injury. Amazingly enough, his upper body strength is great, so he uses that and his boot to drag himself around the house. Things were bad, but no injury was quite bad enough for surgery...thank goodness.
  8. Skiing accident at Kirkwood, CA. Since both legs were involved, the healing time will be 4-6+ months. We were just a couple of days before payment, but we had just paid our TA, so it is taking forever to have our airfare returned. We also canceled our October cruise on Ascent, but we just did the Caribbean in December. Actually, we had previously scheduled a b2b from Sydney, but changed to just Hawaii. We have been to New Zealand, but not Australia. Next year it is all Europe-my happy place!
  9. Gosh...so sorry about that. I keep hearing about people and their mishaps. My DH is finally starting PT; we had to cancel our Hawaii cruise.. Hopefully, since time really goes by fast when retired, you will be onboard soon!
  10. I wish I could share any special insight, but we have just had wonderful luck with deck 11, in terms of butler/cabin attendant service. Everything has always been beyond special, at least for us. Our first S1 corner aft(now sunset suite) was a move up from concierge for a total of $300 for a 10 night cruise in Greece; it was deck 11. That number just stuck and remained an important part of our cruise bookings for the last 12 years. If I book a Sky Suite, I always book deck 10 due to not having a complete overhang, finding a suite without those struts or square poles...just me. Actually, we were originally on the NZ cruise and Wine Cruise with the TP. We have hiked the Milford Track into Milford Sound, NZ, plus had a car and drove all over the country...just beautiful! It was just too many days cruising altogether, so we changed to TP, then to just Hawaii. Funny thing is now we cannot do any of those. All the changes must have been predestined to happen. Our friends were also on the first two cruises, but they canceled for Norway and Iceland. Life is always full of surprises, but I truly believe that most happen for a reason. Your suite is better where it is on 9; 12 is not always a good choice due to possible noise from above. S class had the spiders(window-washing equipment)on certain decks, but not on E-class. I am certainly contemplating waiting until the last 60-90 days to book for this year, if my DH is well and able. Just one more specialist to see tomorrow, starting PT next week. He is really tough, so will do well for sure. We have everything booked for 2025, as long as nothing major happens. Life is full of anything, but guarantees. I hope you enjoy your TP and Hawaii; too bad we could not meet up onboard with all those sea days...keep posting and safe travels.
  11. I am still trying to get my airfare returned from a canceled cruise before final payment. Resolutions has been alerted, but no information why this is happening. I was also charged more for my cruise because I paid early. It is all so frustrating because these issues happen all the time, so nothing has changed. Celebrity keeps changing their own rules regardless of when you booked. Yes…watch everything all the time and keep hard copies too! To be fair, it is not just Celebrity.
  12. There may be offers on May 1, 2024 for Honolulu to Vancouver, as prices have dropped immensely! Of course, just in case you, or anyone else may be interested! Also, are there ever offers in Europe? I do not cruise the Caribbean or Bermuda etc. Thanks!
  13. I am not talking about me...I am letting people know that the price keeps dropping in case anyone wants a great deal. My DH had a ski accident, so we had to cancel! He is doing well...thanks for asking...
  14. Anyone want to book the Retreat on May 1, 2024 for Hawaii...Retreat MC for 3,000 or so pp? Book early and get a decent price, only to have it bottom out after final payment...how low will this one go?
  15. You can always get the military discount because it doesn’t interfere with anything else. That’s what I was told, but of course, now I take everything with a grain of salt. It is sometimes so hard to remember everything when making a booking, especially onboard. The military discount seems to be a staple. I remember adding the shareholder’s credit and my cruise had added discounts that were significant. This happened several times. My TA was very surprised, as one was over 2,000. I do not remember anyone discussing this on Cruise Critic, but do remember my surprise when it happened the second and third times.
  16. Is it the one on deck 11? Those are our favorites for TA’s/b2b’s. I had that one on a TA; it was perfect and I love the long walks to the Retreat, gym and spa. The only issue for those now and all the suites/SV’s is that Celebrity took away all the loungers. Hope you enjoy it❣️
  17. We are older, but our December cruise was also more like “a floating home” too. Since we absolutely love TA’s and European itineraries, we were very disappointed. Furthermore, we had previously been on Beyond twice with wonderful experiences; however, this third time in the Caribbean and not Europe was such a different experience without the demographics and enjoyment we have come to love, and expect. I get a D- on doing my homework for a Caribbean 10 day cruise, on a ship that I loved. That was totally my fault!
  18. This is “not" the same thing that you are thinking about doing, but I was told that if the price dropped, I could get the new price. Well, it dropped while I was onboard, but I was not allowed to get the reduction. I am sharing this example for you to make sure that what you are being told is actually correct. Get it in writing first!
  19. Having an open-mind is always good; great for comparisons too. If the maiden voyage is important to you, you’ll have an excellent cruise on a brand new ship. Personally, we want it to be a little used before we take it to or from Europe, so thanks for doing us the break-in favor!
  20. I agree; when you look at the bigger picture things do look so much better. We went through Covid onboard when it was a five day quarantine and Celebrity was great to us. We owned their stock, buying low and selling high. The memories made cruising are etched in our minds and found on our walls throughout our home. My glass is always half full, as is yours!
  21. You need to share more information. I am assuming this is after final payment, or NRD, but your insurance only covers certain things written on your policy, so it depends on those covered items. So sorry to hear about your dilemma.
  22. So, the price dropped 4,000 on your category and now it is down even more, but you are happy with your price? Did I read this correctly?
  23. Several reasons: 1. We could have a price drop, but lose lots of OBC. 2. We had already paid a few days early, so would not allow us a price drop, losing even more OBC. Celebrity would not budge on anything with us; we were told there was nothing Celebrity could do to assist us except just cancel our cruise…my DH had a bad ski accident right after this discussion. Celebrity charged us extra money to cancel, even though we were booked under a different policy…they had our money, so we actually paid more. No options for us at all! This was from an individual who deals with suite customers! We have yet to receive our airfare which was first class and a great deal. My TA is working on this too, but time will tell…my DH injured both legs, but not even an I am sorry! This was a first and yes, I did something about it!!!
  24. I booked Apex for 2025, along with the cruise before it. I was also on this Edge cruise, but my DH nixed that with a skiing accident. I booked both Apex cruises while onboard Beyond in the Caribbean. Edge was not doing Lahaina due to the fire; many did cancel due to that, so prices did go down after final payment. We had 2,200 OBC...we also were not allowed any price drops, even before payment! I also loved my cruise on Silly, so only time will tell, along with cruise prices, as time goes by. Life can change in an instant, but one just modifies and adjusts. Only time will tell about pricing, price drops and what happens. We wanted a certain cabin(SV) and suite, so for us it was worth it. I plan to do a MoveUp, but that plan may change...TBD. We loved our prior two Apex cruises, as Israel was open and Zakynthos was gorgeous!
  25. Thanks for mentioning the elevator. Last December, there was no line(just a huge crowd),but we were told to go there. We always take the stairs and just suck it up with our luggage; however, helpers(hahaha)were blocking the stairs...finally, down the stairs we went, along with a few others following. Glad you were on your time and disembarked without incident. Had we known things would be such a crowded mess, we would have made other arrangements, as we have never experienced anything like this. I was sorry that I ever mentioned this on Cruise Critic, but hey, glad you did just fine and had a lovely trip! P.S. I am always very jealous of those small bottles of Evian water, as our last cruise had tons of the large ones🤗
