  1. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If there is anything learned here, it's that you need to "check-in" with MYJ on a schedule that you feel works for you. The last 2 years I have had 8 Viking Ocean/river cruises. Post Covid, this has not been the same cruise line as it was Pre Covid. I have seen many changes come directly from Viking, or from my TA or only because I went into MVJ.
  2. Squawkman- We previously discussed this. Your Viking agent seems to have the power to always offer you the post cruise discount. My experience, as I previously stated is that the post cruise offer is targeted. Not everyone will get the call. You certainly will never get a post cruise call if you transfer your booking to a TA. If you book while onboard an Ocean cruise, you get two discounts, one for the current cruise and a discount for the new booking cruise. If it was me, I would wait till your on your cruise. Set up a date immediately to speak to the future cruise consultant. They get very busy as the cruise progresses.
  3. Nothing wrong with a price increase every 5 years. However, what is wrong is that the ships run out of your favorite wine or spirit or slim line tonic. Last month on the Neptune and now on Star and Viking has "supply chain" issues. Not a good time to then roll out an increase.
  4. Not true. I had a Duoro river cruise booked. Free air included. It was a 2020 cruise canceled due to Covid.
  5. This happened to me on a prior booking, however a new guest statement was generated and sent to me by my TA. Sorry Squawkman, I must disagree with you (again). It has nothing to do with transferring your booking to a TA. Clay should have received notice of the old voucher being applied. That is the fault of Viking.
  6. We were on the Neptune last month. I can happily concur that the Abba and Beatle shows are history.
  7. Happy to hear this. Boarding in a couple of days so I asked about the bar staff.
  8. Glad you are enjoying your cruise! Has any of the bar staff treated you well?
  9. We did this last month on the Neptune. Nothing was available on MVJ until we got on the ship. I recall Viking only offered three tours. The included was a drive by of Rome. The two option's were Rome on your Own. The other was the Vatican. That was it. Also note the following- I had a DV cabin. I couldn't make any reservations for the specialty restaurants until I got on board. And then I could only make it for the first week. I was told to wait until the second week to book Manfredi's. So at 8:00am, while in Rome I tried booking. It was completely full! A quick, unnecessary trip to Guest Services resolved my "problem". In regards to the original question asked- If day 8 is your first day in Athens then you are guaranteed a tour. It should be added later.
  10. Since I'm "old school", I must assume you mean Personal Digital Assistant......otherwise I will be blushing at the thought....
  11. Great news....I just saved thousands on my insurance. sorry.
  12. It's always about "me" isn't it? 🙂
  13. These conversations always seem to repeat. If the additional OBC don't interest you, don't transfer to a TA. Clay laid out the benefit. Ask your Viking agent if it is okay to call them if you have questions after you have transfered to a TA. They will always say yes. What is wrong getting $600 OBC on a 14 night cruise? Answer....nothing
  14. Well, anything is possible with Viking. In my case, I book the aquarium rooms on the river cruises, and DV6 on Ocean. The only offer that I have ever received in 12 years with Viking has been for the Expedition cruises.
  15. In addition to what was said above... Because you are flying out of Turkey (as opposed to continuing on a cruise) you need a visa. Did it last year on a cruise that disembarked in Turkey. Stay extra days also. The link is provided above and it is only $30. Make sure you have a Turkish breakfast at your hotel.
  16. Thank you for additional clarification. Many cruisers on this board have not received any promo offers if they have future cruises booked. And please post those promos.
  17. Your "problem" is that you have additional cruises booked. Viking therefore feels there is no need to send promo material to you.
  18. Just my 2 cents. I have probably taken over a dozen cruises that disembark in NYC. Getting off the boat and thru customs is a breeze. No different than any other port. Since you are flying home, you need to add transit time to the airport. Mid-week and weekend traffic in NYC are very different. It might help if you are not checking luggage, but I would confidently say a flight after noon is doable.
  19. You should first confirm what type of OBC you have. Some must be used before you board. I think you might find this info on page 3 of your Guest Statement. (Vouchers Applied) Note the two asterisk(s) on the page.
  20. Don't think. If you do, it will be gone. Book it, Dano!
  21. Yes. I confirm this with my TA every time I transfer a booking to her. This is done automatically by the onboard Viking agent...assuming a relationship with a TA already exists with Viking.
