  1. This is the kind of thing that's going to have me closely watch O and similar lines. Maybe cruising is over for us.
  2. Well, we always share. Plus we were staying in an Airbnb so we had leftovers 🙂 Oh, and that big dinner was at an Italian place .(They are who settled BA. We had (shared again) a wonderful lunch with steak.
  3. I'm curious. Nowadays, do you ever cruise on any line other than Oceania? TIA
  4. Ooh, lucky you. We've had great times in BA. And, oh, the food is SO good.
  5. And different things for different people.
  6. I'll be honest with you. When someone writes an all glowing with praise review, I just blow it off.
  7. It's just incomprehensible!
  8. Our cruise line added several days in the Falklands. It was so weird to see green and blooming things. We were there in early January so summer was really there.
  9. I had never heard of nor seen them. This would be somewhere in western Chilean Patagonia before we boarded the ship for Antarctica.
  10. Absolutely. A few years ago we did a land/ship trip. We started in Buenos Aires, then Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia. Then moved onto a 400 passenger cruise ship to Antarctic and after that the Falklands ending in Santiago, Chile. For us anyway, it cost a lot but the destination(s) is IT for us.
  11. Great information. I wish they'd put it somewhere where all could see it.
  12. Bob has worn a navy blazer and white dress shirt and looks quite nice 🙂
  13. One way or another, we the passenger pays for everything. Well, I'm sure there are government thingies.... And when I have salad for dinner and someone else has two 48oz steaks then I'm helping pay for that also 🙂
  14. how hard and well and amenably they work.
  15. I would talk to a real person with a name and get the nitty gritty. As you say, you don't want to show up and .... PS: I love that you have art and collectibles. So do we 🙂
  16. If it were based on merit, they'd be first.
  17. I thought about this for truly a long time and am going to give a brief summary. Some people here have talked about cost. Some in relationship to their getting older. It's a definite factor in any pretty big ticket item we spend on. Based on my late mother-in-law's experience we have long thought about senior living residence (and on to assisted living and memory care). I doubt that there's a single one - and I'm talking about pretty nice - that's under $50k/yr. And way, way higher than that. You can easily hit $100k and that's without the assisted part. So we met with our financial planner and he gave us an annual budget including that. Gratefully we haven't needed it yet. Okay, that's it. Thanks for 'listening.'
  18. I keep forgetting that this isn't the Marina board. Plenty of us eat ALL our meals there. Here's one my husband had: lobster, shrimp, lamb all cooked to order and a little salad.
  19. Thanks for that. Quite a few years ago we did a Rocky Mountaineer train trip only from Vancouver to Jasper, coach down to Banff and train back to Vancouver. We stayed in hotels at night so missed none of the scenery. Loved it.
  20. We ate at the GDR twice. Well, we didn't eat there one of the times. There was a menu on the tv that we stupidly thought was for that night. Whatever item that sent us there wasn't there so we left. The second time the service was SO incredibly slow. Just getting a menu was process. So all our meals were TC and the specialty restaurants. So there were several days where we had all three meals at TC and loved them all. This was lobster, shrimp, lamb and cold vegetable salad. And look at that plate!
  21. I've thought about a Canadian train trip.
  22. Absolutely. I'm getting a REAL urge to go to NYC and then maybe up the coast to Montreal/Quebec. And eating great food.
