  1. Love shoestring fries!! count me in for wanting them on an O ship.
  2. That is what I would expect too.
  3. I wish!! I'll find out in a few months.
  4. It all looks delicious, too bad it was over salted. I can always add salt to my meal, but can't take it away 😞
  5. A good cocktail in SF will run about $22-25 these days... I try not to go out there often
  6. I would agree, the prices are not sooooo overpriced. They are more than I'd like to pay for a few drinks, but not more than I'd pay in SF. It does sting a little when you go to locations where off ship the prices are far less, for example many European ports, but it's a cruise... I expect to pay more on board.
  7. How large are the sharing tables in specialty restaurants?
  8. Sometimes it's 3 courses, sometimes it's 5, depends on what's on the menu and how hungry we are. I don't mind sharing tables. Agree that if the dinner companions aren't great, eat up quickly and move along 🙂
  9. The lounge police always freak me out. I want a lounger when I'm at the pool, I may spend a lot of time IN the pool, but I still want that lounger when I get out. I'm not one to leave to eat, but I am one to use the pool and barely use the lounger. However, if I got a lounger, I WANT that lounger
  10. That is so weird. Why would people steal jam?! I don't want to take those things home!! I don't want the extra shampoo, lotion, body wash.... and anything really. I will enjoy what I need while on vacation, but after that, I hope to get home with luggage weighing less than when I arrived (liquids depleted). Customs usually looks at me crazy when I say I've brought nothing back... because I don't bring things back. I make memories on vacation. I don't buy or take junk.
  11. Who's to say you don't get on the ship and have a higher price?! Maybe not this month, or maybe? These things are never consistent anywhere!
  12. I KNOW, I’ve said that from the get go, But if I say I’m going to want another, good customer service will ensure I don’t go thirsty Listen, I’m not going to beg for drinks with a basic package. I’m just saying, if I had it, I’d make sure I didn’t have to worry about a second drink during my meal
  13. I wouldn’t get the basic package I was just suggesting what feels like a fair way to make use of it
  14. Haha, I just bought a cute dress that does have pockets! Hadn't considered it for a cruise... hmmm. I think it will work!
  15. Oh, I get that. My point is, if when I order my first one, I say, I'm going to want another during my meal. I'd expect them to keep an eye on me and not leave me thirsty 🙂 At least, I've seen land restaurants pay attention to this and come in time to ask me if I want another before my current runs out. It takes some skill, but if warned they can usually manage it. 😉
  16. I looked up a car service and it was something ridiculous like 400 euros per person on the day we disembark. Day before was way cheaper. So, I've asked my TA to add transfers, which I hate. Would love to cancel them if some better recommendation is made here.
  17. Since covid, most places in europe seem to take debit/credit cards. I don't like the idea of buying euros in the US and then traveling with them, I'd worry about getting robbed. I would use a bank's ATM machine (any bank, obviously my bank wouldn't be there), and my bank doesn't change transaction fees, BUT I have found that some banks will show your withdrawal as the total amount including their transaction fee. We just told Schwab about it and they credited back the fee. For our upcoming cruise, I'm getting 100 euros for the transportation to port (they want cash). Other than that, I won't get cash unless I have to. Whoever commented on requesting an "odd" amount like 90 instead of 100 is spot on, I hate when I end up with two 50 euro bills! Side note, We had a taxi driver in Paris tell us his credit card machine didn't work, so, at his cost/stopped meter, he drove us to an ATM, drove us back to our location and we paid him.
  18. I don't have the package, but wondering could you just order two glasses of wine with lunch? Let them know you want a second when you order the first, that way you won't have to wait and you will get your two drinks? They don't have to bring both at the same time, but when they see you getting low they can bring out the next one? That sounds fair and within the package restrictions.
  19. That is too bad to hear that Monterey won't be on any cruise stops, it's a wonderful place to visit! We live close to Monterey and go often, and we've done a few cruises that stop there. I might say I enjoy the cruise stop better than the day trip from home!! I haven't been to Catalina Island (Avalon) since college, when I lived in LA, but it's also a great place to go, different than Monterey, but still lovely. Would Santa Barbara maybe be added instead? Either way, I'm sure it will be a great cruise. I really enjoy the California Coastal cruises.
  20. I have not been on an O cruise yet, but I am pretty sure the non allowed "flat iron" is an iron for your clothes not your hair
  21. Oh! Hadn’t realized a hair straightener wasn’t allowed! I never leave it plugged in but rules are rules
  22. How sensitive are the key cards? Do they demagnetize easily? In my prior cruise life, I found that if I had my cell phone and cruise card in the same area, the card key would demagnetize and no longer work. Not an issue on the ship because I don't have my phone on me, but when getting off the ship, it is. I absolutely would never wear with a lanyard. Just curious.
  23. Good to know!! So, what kind of outlet? Do I bring my USA one or European one? The reason I ask is that my USA one will not work with a converter, it starts to overheat. I have one I bought in Spain, but never tried using a converter on that one. Thanks for sharing what kind of plug your wife has on her curling iron.
