  1. Hi folks, Mysty, I want to say THANK YOU again for your lovely blog on your recent trip. Reading it while I was trying to get through my trials of my leg on my sailing, gave me a wonderful respite.
  2. Good morning, sorry I wasn't more specific.......I have never visited there before. I arrive 1 day early from my cruise but my flight gets in about 3:45.......so not sure how far the airport is from "the city". Something in 300.00 range per night is fine........near something local for dinner😃
  3. Hi folks, looks like this is..........some enjoy the food on Silversea and some don't. I was on the Dawn but in my case, I did not have an appetite much of the time. As for who likes what venue? Personally, I love the Arts Cafe. Maybe on the Dawn there are more choices? I found plenty of variety of breakfast and lunch choices and I love the ambiance. It was a place I could sit and have tea and rest my leg for an extended amount of time.......the staff was always accommodating. There are cruise lines out there for all of us..........lots of choices!
  4. Good morning girls........Melody, I will see as time gets closer. Silversea's smaller vessels usually have assistance pronto if needed. Not sure I want to bring it with me if I am fully healed. I have 44 days......that is about 5.5 to 6 weeks. Will see how things go.
  5. It was my connection so yes I just showed up. When I saw the gates named for my flight I went there and was told no, you have to go back from where you came and go through security and then come back here. The train said it was full and had to walk for a long, long time and to me, it was very confusing, along with some other folks who also had to do the same thing. I would have thought the BA flight crew might have helped a bit more. Sorry you sound as though it's not allowed to be confused. I had a 2 hour layover and it took all of it to get through to my gate.
  6. I just returned home and had to stop at Heathrow on my way to Barcelona. OMG it was totally confusing and inefficient. Don't want to have to stop there for a connection again!
  7. Be glad it is such a long layover......be very glad. I just returned home from Europe and made my connection in AMS with 5 minutes to spare. And that was with wheelchair assistance due to unforseen issues on my cruise. If I had needed to walk, I would never have made it. I will take the 10 hours.
  8. I found another flight that leaves Newark at 3:00😀.........I must have missed it on my first search! And even better it is NON STOP..........Newark direct to Jax😀 So it is all good!
  9. Would any be so kind as to recommend a hotel for 1 night pre cruise? Sailing in October, Quebec to New York. Thanks!
  10. Oh. I would be off the ship before 8:30. Otherwise the flights are waaaaayyyy later.
  11. The ship I am sailing only holds 388, not like 1,000's will very disembarking. As for what day of the week? It will be a Wednesday.
  12. Hi, been a long while since I have flown out of Newark.........this is at the end of my trip..........should an 11:30am flight home be ok? Ship will be docking in Manhattan.......will get a private car service for pick up............ Thanks🙂
  13. i JUST DID IT🙂...oops sorry for the caps...........I was in Barcelona and shipped my checked bag home via "LUGGAGE FORWARD"........the process was quite smooth and to be honest, I decided on the ship due to some unforseen circumstances..........I am now able to follow along to track it and looks like it will be here between Wed and Friday this week. (I got home from my trip late Friday night).
  14. Hi girls, Sherri, sounds like it will very a fun trip. Good news from the Dr. I was able to see him this morning and there are no torn ligaments. He said it is more of a muscle strain and will continue to heal on its own. To use the cane as needed and when sitting in my lazy boy I can ice it. He also said it is good that I can walk partially on it. My next cruise is August 21st to Alaska and he thinks it will be all healed by then. That is 45 days away.
  15. Thanks Jazz. He also said it is good thing I can partially walk on it.
  16. Hi, went to the Dr this morning and after looking at the paperwork and test results I did not tear any ligaments. He said it is a muscle strain and should continue to heal on its own. To use the cane as needed and when I sitting in my lazy boy I can continue to ice it. He said if I had torn something I would not be walking as I am. I have a cruise booked for August 21st and he thinks it will be all healed by that time. I know I said I would give a re cap and will get to it sometime this week.
  17. I never shop so shopping has no affect when I book a cruise and I have found various tours that are reasonably priced.

    Packing

I have been to Alaska 4 times over the years and have never brought a winter coat with me. I don't own one. I am sailing there again late next month and my outer wear is usually a fleece jacket.
  19. No piling on from me. Again, sorry you were so underwhelmed and disappointed.
  20. Sorry you found yourself with such a bad experience. I LOVE the Arts Cafe and it is one my favorite places with (in my case) a wonderful variety of items. Sorry you found them so paltry on your cruise. I am quite surprised actually because whenever I have been there, they are always trying to keep those shelves stocked/replenished. Wishing you smooth sailing on whatever line you choose.
  21. I just returned home from a cruise out of Barcelona and the hotel I stayed at uses a service and the tech came to the hotel to test me. It was 60 Euros and the company is called "PCR's At Work". They guy said they do testing at hotels all the time.
  22. Hi girls, made it home about 11pm last night. Of course flight from JFK was delayed. Was quite the 11 day experience, that is for sure.
