  1. See post 13 above..that is for our specific cruise..and why I am still confused. It is an ‘enhanced’ cruise, 18 days and visiting Columbia…so requirements look as if they are different. Will wait until New Year, by pass travel agent and try to speak directly to Princess myself..hopefully they’ll speak to me and have sorted out what they’re looking for…who knows? Thanks for your posts and Merry Christmas.
  2. Yes, we went to a Doctors’ office in Fort Lauderdale to get the test last year. Was thinking of the airport in Santiago if they still require them. We have a type of cartridge that we put the liquid into, then results show in 15 minutes..presume that is what you mean?? Fingers and toes crossed we don’t need anything by the time tie of our cruise. Thanks for your help.
  3. We are in Chile for three days pre cruise, after 24 hrs of travelling, so that’s why I am fussing about trying to find out whether we need a proctored test or need to book somewhere for the test, like we had to do last year for Caribbean cruise ex Fort Lauderdale. Can you explain what a ‘test card’ is please? Our British tests appear to be slightly different. We have proof of two vaccinations and two boosters both in paper form and on our iPhones.
  4. Thank you Aggie 83…will take a box of tests, obviously passport and maybe buy a newspaper to show the date..time will have to be written in somewhere, but maybe phone time will show up. Hopefully something simpler will appear by email prior to departure. Thanks again for your input.
  5. Aggie 83- Being stupid….do you mean self administered and observed on the internet, or just self administered and you take photo of negative result ?? Thanks.
  6. These are the protocols for our specific cruise. Dated 2nd Dec..there is nothing after that on UK site. It is the sentences in blue and red that I find contradictory. Enhanced Protocols This specific booking and/or voyage follows our COVID-19 Enhanced Protocols for vaccination and testing requirements. Vaccination Requirements All guests 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated. A booster dose is required for guests 18 years of age and older whose final dose of an approved/authorized COVID-19 vaccine is older than 5 months. Only one booster dose is needed to be considered boosted. Guests under 18 years of age do not need to be vaccinated, have a booster dose or apply for an exemption. Testing Requirements All guests ages 5 and older are required to take a medically observed COVID-19 Test. Medically observed PCR test taken within 3 days before embarkation. Medically observed or self-administered antigen home test must be taken within 3 days before embarkation. Please upload all required documentation to the MedallionClass app for a quick and seamless embarkation process. Global COVID-19 regulations and protocols are continuously changing and we may revise or modify these requirements (effective immediately) to evolve with the latest practices at any time. Please check back regularly for any updates. These protocols only apply to the specific booking number or voyage entered. As of December 2, 2022
  7. Think that’s the consensus of what I’ve been reading…now to get a firm answer on PCR or Antigen, medically observed os self tested. Thanks for your help.
  8. Not sure what Princess actually want…the information for my cruise, with ‘enhanced procedures’ doesn’t make sense as it says firstly that medically observed tests are required, the next line shows home tests are fine. I posted on the South America board..you might want to look. Spoke to travel agent who contacted Princess who said tests not needed !!!! I think this is totally wrong, as somewhere else it says cruises over 18 days need medically observed tests…….so not a clue where we stand. Will contact Princess again closer to Sail date…wish they realised how much stress they are causing with their unclear posts !!!!!!!!!
  9. Princess site must have been having a glitch…I have now been able to order both medallions and lanyards. Now they have been ordered, we have moved into the Green Lane. Thanks again.
  10. Thank you, we’ve done that in the past. We just order the medallion with the included neck strap and know we have to pick up at check in..but it’s not letting me order it at the moment. Will try again in a few days. Thanks again.
  11. How far in advance are medallions available for ordering, please? Tried search but no luck. Can’t remember what we did last time. When I try it says “In Progress” Many Thanks.
  12. I am definitely not trying to intimidate anyone, just politely requesting that Princess enforces their own ‘suggestions’ !!!!!!!!!
  13. There’s no ‘obviously’ about it…just some people follow the suggest rules!!!!!
  14. Thank you, that sounds great. Our cruise is 18 days , so hope the length isn’t what causes the need for testing. Will just have to be patient I suppose to see what their instructions are for us.
  15. I think Princess should enforce their policy whatever they decide their policy is. Have seen men refused entry to MDR at dinner for wearing shorts on some ships, in some locations but it is allowed on others. ( not formal night) We fly internationally to pick up cruise ships and can pack formal wear within our weight allowance..however, if the policy didn’t mention formalwear, we would find our luggage easier to handle.
  16. A very sympathetic, non judgemental person has explained that the tour reaches the airport just after 1 pm. Princess says for flights after 16.30. Our flight is 16.55 but felt the need to check we’d have plenty of time to check in, go through security etc.
  17. Thank you…not very confident about doing tests online..but maybe we’ll have to have a go. When we did a Caribbean cruise from Fort Lauderdale we were able to get sorted in a Doctors’ Office. Will see what Princess has to say nearer the time. Thanks again for your help.
  18. Thank you very much for this information. We have confirmation on our phones and paper copies of vaccines and boosters so not worried about that. More concerned about needing tests. We understood there was no need for a test to fly into Chile but perhaps we need to look into it again. We haven’t heard anything from Princess yet, but our trip isn’t until Spring. Would you mind sharing where you had your pre cruise test done please? Many thanks.
  19. Thanks for that. if you look on the cruise personaliser it will show you the enhanced protocols for your specific cruise. We are double vexed and double boosted so it was understanding the pre boarding testing requirements I am seeking clarification for.

As of December 2, 2022 I have just found the Covid testing requirements for our 18 day Princess Cruise from San Antonio, Chile. I am confused regarding the testing requirements. The notice does not state whether a PCR or Antigen test is required. In one place it states must be Medically observed and later says Medically observed or self administered home test. Contacted travel agent, who contacted Princess then came back with reply Self administered test was fine, but need photo of result and need to sign additional waiver. I feel concerned about this contrasting information. Anyone else have any more straight forward information, please ? Many Thanks.
  21. Because I was confused by Princess’ posted enhanced protocols, I phoned travel agent, who phoned Princess and came back with totally different reply. Travel agent said self administered Antigen test was OK but need to sign additional waiver and take photos of negative test on phone !!! This is for an 18 day Princess cruise from Santiago..must admit still confused but will check again nearer sail date !!!!!!!!! 22. Thank you..Sounds much like disembarkation tour we did years ago in Hong Kong. Was just checking we’d have at least three hours pre flight . At least there’ll be no lugging of suitcases.
  23. Please can anyone give information about the Princess disembarkation tour at San Pedro ? We have an international flight at 16.55 from LAX. What time are you dropped at the airport please ? Many thanks.
