  1. Someone might be more specific than I am, however you will be able to pick up Medallion at the port, I see no benefit to shipping to my home. I have seen several posts of people anxiously waiting for them to arrive. Medallions are not shipped to some countries and charges for shipping have changed over time. There is now a charge to ship them unless you have Plus or Premiere package. Some feel there is a benefit of walking straight on to the ship with a valid medallion, I find that one still needs to show passport etc.
  2. Yes, I can confirm this also we got a $10 refund each, apparently a refund of Medallion shipping charge, though we did not have Medallion shipped. Insurance goes up because the fare goes up. Adding Plus onboard is similar to adding Specialty Dining, Excursions etc. The Fare is not increased.
  3. Good advice, I suppose Airplane mode forces the call to WiFi right. Hence the suggestion to test at home.
  4. Initially I thought this would be classed as 'Sharing' similar to giving a drink to someone else, however, since they both have Plus, then Sharing is a non issue.
  5. I have never made a cell call from onboard, however our upcoming transpacific has lots of sea days and so I need advice please. Do we turn on Airplane Mode and Wi Fi calling? Do we need to be logged in to the App to get to Wi Fi? And there is no cell charge for such calls, right?
  6. Assuming the system does not log both pax as a visit each time, regardless of what is ordered. i.e. You both sit down in Alfredo's and both of you get flagged with a visit. I hope your idea works. ETA. I guess you are on Plus and counting the 2 visits each. If so you would need to order 3 course on two visits and give to DH ---- would that be sharing ???
  7. I have done that previously but could not see it on recent British Isles cruise.
  8. Thanks for info - credit cards it is.
  9. I think I read on here that tap credit card is easy to use on ferry and light rail, is that correct or do we need an Opal card? Would one Opal card work for two people? I am thinking two separate cards are easier to use than one but then you need to top up two cards. Seems like credit card would be simpler. We will be in Sydney for three days.
  10. Do you mean the free visit for a Plus package should be charged as one visit? I agree with you but Princess could simply log both passengers medallion as a visit. I am hoping they don't because DW and always share a pizza. It just occurs to me, what would they do if one person has Plus and orders a pizza and the other person doesn't have Plus. ETA that would be like the Plus passenger sharing a drink.
  11. Good points. I wondered if they would automatically count both guests for a visit and that only one was ordering would not avoid this 'double visit'. However, your point about one ordering pizza and the other just ordering a drink makes a lot of sense.
  12. Funny you should mention Resort Fee, we had a hotel stay during Covid and all pools and restaurants except the Pub were closed. I notice after the fact that we were still charged a Resort Fee!
  13. We also would be more that twice on our 21 day cruise. Typically first day lunch then an evening after a rushed port day. As previously stated, one pizza is sufficient for me and DW, so I hope we are charged just one visit. Also don't use ocean now or room service so an extra $8 if necessary, won't go amiss. I do agree this is handled poorly by not grandfathering.
  14. Last cruise I did not see the opportunity to add DW as a user. Could not get it to work so went to GS on first day. On the cruise before that I had set credit card up for both of us, but got a call mid-voyage that DW did not have a card on file.
  15. I hope I am answering your question. If you upgrade to Plus before you sail, you cannot apply OBC to the purchase. The price of the cruise will increase and so Insurance will also increase. If you wait until you board, the cost of Plus is added to your shipboard account and any OBC is applied against that account. The $10 discount was applied as a credit to our account, not as OBC and no visit to Guest Services.
  16. If memory serves me, we both got $10 credit after signing up for Plus onboard.
  17. We are very similar and recently I calculated that we would be slightly better off on our 12 day cruise. Also applying OBC by buying onboard. As I sat in the bar on sail day I said, 'To heck with the calculations' and signed up for Plus. πŸ™‚
  18. Thanks Nancy - I always feel guilty taking a short ride when Taxi might be hoping for an airport run.
  19. Thanks Aussiecruisers., we have been away on Maui 😞 and just saw your reply.
  20. My point is that OBC for Military FCD etc varies by cruise length so why not for Perks. A three or five day cruise with two SD is a good thing, two SD for 21 days isn’t. My point is the lack of logic not value
  21. I am amazed that Princess would have programs, such as 2 casual dining visits regardless of cruise length. Not saying it is good or bad, just cannot fathom how Marketing would not allow for that.
  22. We also share, I wonder though, if they take the order and scan medallion does that automatically flag as two visits. Is it Visit or Order??? But hey, if our third visit costs $12 that's no big deal.
  23. Looks like a 10 minute walk, iffy with luggage but taxi is 3 minutes. Would taxi take this ride?
  24. Isn't Hobbiton better done from Tauranga?
  25. Someone said it is fleet wide because crew objected to regions like Australia or UK where the tipping protocol is different from other regions.
