We currently have cruises booked on Celebrity and Azamara. It's a relief on Celebrity to book excursions immediately. Azamara includes alcohol and just over 750 people so smaller than Viking. Have been on Cunard, Princess, RCL and Celebrity before. After our next two river cruises on Viking are completed then I don't think we will go back to Viking.
Checked in again. Another $150 saved today. Total of $300 now, more than what I'll pay. Now to wait for the refunds. Wifi is more expensive by a couple of dollars. Nothing on excursions. 53% off plus a better Aud exchange rate for AUD than reality.
To be honest I don't think Vikings statement is misleading. They offer one free excursion in every port.
It seems the GE cruise offers Marksburg castle as an included tour but it's extra on the Rhine currently. Colmar seems to be on everyone's wish list. Dine in Rudesheim gets very mixed reviews and we are simply going to walk to a nearby restaurant and order what we like. Strasburg I'm very much looking forward to.
Thankyou. Departing Viking. Kara on Dec 10. Amsterdam to Basel and three nights in Lucerne. Coming from Australia when it will be HOT. Link now bookmarked for research.
Amd you will need to do the Customs declaration 3 days prior to arrival. You can do it on arrival but you have to do this through wifi and it's just easier to do it in advance.
When we arrived in St Petersburg a few years ago we had to go through immigration which took ages. The downstairs atrium was full of non Celebrity shoreex passengers and we were not allowed off until celebrity shoreex left. We were delayed at least an hour. Lots of angry people.
Sadly we really can't afford a suite, but have enjoyed the Solarium in the past. However, and this was just pre Covid, they were letting kids in before the stated time and wouldn't do anything to police it. We hate the jangle around the outside pool, I think it's rubbish. So it sounds like it's more Adults only in the Solarium again?
It worries me too. I'd certainly object to paying any further tips. It should be fine, booking made prior to the change but agree I don't like to see it there. By Aussie law if the tips are in the original purchase price then they cannot be added later.
I've just looked at my original invoice. At the end of page 1, last line there's a statement saying that tips are included in the price package for stateroom and dining, purchases made onboard will incur an adiitional service charge.
I costed the full premium drinks package for our cruise and it was something like $2500. We upgraded from basic to premium drinks and wifi. I'm not touching my booking again in case it goes amok with all these changes.
Thanks for that explanation. So unless it states that Tips are included in All included, then they aren't. That's really good to know. So in the above picture I posted, no tips are included in the AI. I reckon it will get sticky for those booked in the Old deal where All included (in my booking anyway) included tips but someone booking the new AI tips won't be. Must keep dated screenshots of my booking. And also that changing cabins removes any previous inclusions. I also see that if I change my cabin then I can only book Cruise Only, there's no provision to rebook any kind of AI.
