Budget airlines for international flights to London or Iceland
marys350 replied to marys350's topic in Cruise Air
Thank you for all the responses. When flying, we always try to fly non-stop 1-2 days before the cruise and are averse to taking risks that would cause us to miss the ship. After researching all of our options for non-stop flights and each airline's fleet size, schedules, and inter line arrangements, etc., I think we'll stick with Delta or Virgin Atlantic to London. For our non-stop flight home from Reykjavik our choices are Icelandair or Play Airline. -
Budget airlines for international flights to London or Iceland
marys350 replied to marys350's topic in Cruise Air
Cruise is in June, 2024 and we're planning to fly 2 days before cruise. Will be flying from Boston to London and then Reykjavik to Boston. Just recently started looking at all flight options using Google Flights and researching more about various airlines. -
Budget airlines for international flights to London or Iceland

Does anyone have experience flying with Play Airlines or Norse Airlines, two fairly new budget airlines? Considering them for our cruise next year. Thanks in advance for any feedback. -
We attended the New France Festival in Quebec City about 15+ years ago during a land vacation to the area and had a great time. I remember parking in a lot near the waterfront where the daily river cruises dock. We walked all around the lower and upper city and especially enjoyed the Place Royal area. There were people in costumes from the era, music, etc. I remember purchasing a medallion, which covered the entrance fee, but don't remember if it covered multiple days or just one day. It was a great experience and was very easy for English- only speakers. https://nouvellefrance.qc.ca/en/

Heathrow Airport To / From Heathrow Hotel Transportation

I found the following website helpful in understanding various options for transfers from Heathrow airport to Southampton. https://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow_southampton.htm -
You might want to check out Quebec Bus Tours, which offers several different tours at reasonable prices. https://quebecbustour.com/home/ We have booked a tour with them online for our upcoming cruise in September.

Is this the HOHO bus tour that you are thinking of? The website includes a map and bus stops. https://toursvieuxquebec.com/en/forfait/Double-Decker

We have also used AIG TravelGuard for many years and have always been happy with their service. One feature we like is that they offer a waiver for pre-existing conditions if the policy is purchased within approximately 2 weeks (can't remember exact number of days) from the time that the cruise was booked. We had to cancel a cruise once due to a major illness and successfully filed a claim. In 2020, we had a land trip cancelled by the tour operator when Covid caused countries to ban travel. The tour operator refunded our money and TravelGuard gave us a voucher for the amount of the policy which we were able to use when we rebooked our trip for 2022.

NCL Excursions Looking Sad for Fall Canada/New England Cruise
marys350 replied to RN_Prof's topic in Canada/New England
If you are interested in a private tour with a short hike and waterfalls, you might want to check out Sydney Cape Breton Taxi Tours. They have many options for tours listed and I think one includes a short hike and a waterfall. Although I haven't booked a tour with this company, I have researched and read good reviews about them on Trip Advisor. https://www.sydneycapebretontaxitours.ca/home -
NCL Excursions Looking Sad for Fall Canada/New England Cruise
marys350 replied to RN_Prof's topic in Canada/New England
Have you checked out any private tour companies? We are going on a Canada/New England cruise in September and have booked several private tours including a tour through Blackwood Tours in Sydney (they have several options) and a 4 hour tour through Conrad's Coastline Tours in Charlottetown that includes a stop at Ann of Green Gables. Have you signed up for the cruise critic roll call for your NCL ship and sailing date? I find roll call forum boards are helpful in sharing ideas for excursions, hotels, etc. Good luck finding excursions either through NCL or private companies. -

Luggage storage is available at the cruise terminal. https://www.portquebec.ca/en/cruises/information-for-cruise-ship-passengers/customer-service

We did a combo tour with Portland Discovery Tours and it was an easy 10-15 minute walk from the cruise terminal.

You should be fine since May 8th is a Monday and the tunnel will only be closed on weekends in May. The tunnel is scheduled to be closed 7 days per week during the summer, from July 5 - August 31, 2023. https://www.mass.gov/info-details/sumner-tunnel-restoration-project-details-and-closure-schedule

This info may be helpful to you as it gives weekly updates of the tunnel reconstruction. It also includes a link to the MBTA Trip Planner with information about public transportation in Boston. Main Dining Room- reservations question?
marys350 replied to jargey3000's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If you can't find reservation times available on the cruise planner, try going to the dining room after you board the ship. There is usually someone at the hostess station at the dining room entrance in the early afternoon that you can speak to about making reservations. -
Canada New England Cruise - What Currency is needed
marys350 replied to cgolf1's topic in Canada/New England
Foreign currency can be ordered through AAA by members at your local office. Quick and easy. We use credit cards for some purchases, but always bring some local cash for taxis and small purchases where credit cards may not be accepted. -
No shore excursions suitable for wheelchair users!?
marys350 replied to JiggeryPokery's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Try doing a Google search using terms like " accessibility travel tours and excursions" or "wheelchair accessible travel" and include specific destinations in your search. Did you check Cruise Critic "Disabled Cruise Travel" board under the special interest section? This website may have helpful information: https://wheelchairtravel.org -
We did the Land and Sea Combo tour, which made for a great day in Portland. We did the trolley in the morning, had time for lunch and shopping nearby, and did the boat in the early afternoon. Easy to get to from the cruise terminal.

Overnight In Quebec - What to see - help!
marys350 replied to Ramjet1997's topic in Canada/New England
We enjoyed a 3 course "Quebecoise" dinner from the table d'hote menu at Aux Anciens Canadiens Restaurant. The meals on that special menu are discounted before 5 pm. http://www.auxancienscanadiens.qc.ca/ -
https://www.grandpasphotos.com/location.php There is a location on Prince Edward Island, although I haven't personally been to the studio. If you look at the map it is in the area of Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place and Cavendish Beach, two popular tourist attractions on tours to the North Shore area of PEI.
