  1. Why would the old timers be the ones taking the tips off if theyā€™ve been paying them for years?
  2. You must give the waitstaff such fodder to share down in their crews quarters ā€So This Guy Disappears, Then Comes Back With Two Salads From The Lidoā€
  3. I couldnā€™t agree with you more. Sone of these people probably think Olive Garden is the best Italian ever, and will gladly pay $40 to eat there and gorge on rubber bread
  4. We went with iguana Mama this summer and 10 of us climbed into a brand new van with the plastic still on the seats. Zip lined did some falls had a great lunch afterwards. Fantastic memorable day
  5. We went to Damagua Falls in June Independently with Iguana Mama. It was fantastic. We hiked for about an hour then did several zip lines ( really good ones) then we went to several falls and jumped in. After that we hiked back down and had a delicious lunch. You can hire a kid with a water camera who takes pictures of you all day , they show you the pics and give you a thumb drive with all the pics on them. You have to be in decent shape to do this and wear closed toe water shoes. It was a blast
  6. We did iguana mama in June and the excursion was fantastic. We booked independently
  7. We went zip lining and the falls this summer. We went independently and did a long strenuous hike make sure you have sone closed toe keens or Merrells, flip flops wonā€™t cut it. We hiked did probably 8 zip lines 4 falls then ate a delicious lunch . it took up most of the day and when it was over and had eaten we were pretty much toast. The excursion was out of this world
  8. Perhaps itā€™s just a case by case basis. If you display obnoxious boorish behavior they up charge you?
  9. I booked online yesterday and had a basic veranda cabin. I called later in the afternoon and got a sensational cabin on the stern for $60 cheaper from a customer service rep
  10. Where can I get a Pinnacle Dinner on land for $36 or $42 or whatever it costs now?
  11. Now this darn thread has given me an Ear WormšŸ˜„ The minute you walked in the jointI could see you were a man of distinction, a real big spender
  12. When did this big spending happen? Iā€™ve been on 20 HAL cruises and when I walk in the casino I only see Gertrude with her cup of quarters and a Benson & Hedges hanging out of her mouth with 3 inches of ash on it
  13. Well I go out every Friday night and my wife and I get a pizza with two toppings and two cokes and itā€™s $40 out the door. So Pinnacle in my mind is a bargain Something tells me that once upon a time people would book their Pinnacle dinner. They then would proceed to order 6 appetizers and four dinners. HAL was now losing money so they put the brakes on this. Bringing a bottle of wine, or bringing three steamer trunks of wine. This was also put to an end. The abusers are what makes policy changes
  14. Following your reasoning they would simply sale with more empty berths, lose more money, and may not be sailing and cruises in the future
  15. No- Not picking on you. Asking why the cruise line just doesnā€™t make a price and stick with it. All this wasted manpower. The same goes for the tips, crew appreciation whatever. Have the passenger sign a simple sheet at the pier . You agree to pay the x amount per day blah blah blah no sign= no sail They stopped the wine schleppers, and they made everybody get vaccinated and tested. Come on HAL you can do it.
  16. This is the strangest business model. Tie up 2,000 phone lines and operators to cater to every Chronic who wants a refund, ship credit, a pinnacle dinner, a free massage , dinner with the captain , or a bottle of Ripple. Why not just price the cruise and leave it at that?

  19. Only speaking of inside and Ocean View cabins. The price we paid 22 years for an Alaskan cruise is the same price now or cheaper. Meanwhile everything else has gone up. Everybody wants a cheap cruise, but the cruise experience and everything that got me hooked is slowly eroding. Live music at Dinner- Gone Automatic piano playing at dinner- gone Dessert extravaganza- Gone Midnight Buffet with ice sculptures and shrimp everywhere- Gone Getting to know your waiter- Gone, heā€™s got 87 tables to attend to. The Maitreā€™D stopping by every evening to check on you Donā€™t make me laugh. Cruising is cheap and thereā€™s lots of new people posting questions like ā€œHow Much Do I Tip The Bag Guy At The Portā€ followed up with 19 pages and 487 replies to this skull numbing question. The crux is all the little things that hooked me are gone forever but cruising is still cheap
  20. Iā€™m Amber Cove go to the Damagua Falls. It is fantastic and bucket list material. You have to be somewhat in shape for itā€™s semi strenuous but worth it. We did it 2 months ago. It was not a ship excursion and we have been on 20 cruises and have never done a a ship excursion and never missed the boat
  21. I would definitely change the massage time. Get on the ship , get acclimated eat some food and people watch. Plus sometimes theyā€™re doing tours of the spa and itā€™s really not peaceful in there at that time. Have a great cruise
