  1. I think I said something like "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see a "no food" sign" πŸ˜… I once saw a family of 10 bring in their windjammer dinner into the theatre for Mamma Mia πŸ˜› No one said a word to them
  2. they used to do that on NCL. They took it away during peak times during Covid times, and I haven't sailed them recently so I don't know if they have brought it back...but it was always nice to have bar snacks always available.
  3. I brought pizza to one of the schooner bar tables (Not at the bartop, the ones by the hallway before you go into the casino) and I got ripped a new one by staff about bringing pizza there πŸ˜…
  4. LOL. Honestly, I would NOT pay for pizza and I find RCI included food options to be too limited, esp at night. Like on my last two cruises, I've packed SNACKS for the evening (because what if I don't want pizza every night) and honestly doing that is a bit ridiculous.
  5. On the same sailing as you! I am so excited And thanks to the OP for the review, bummer about one of your ports being canceled, really hope that doesn't happen to me. I would understand, but the would be very disappointed because of how excited I am to see everything and coming all the way from Texas.
  6. Thank you very much for the review! I am from Texas and doing this itinerary in early Sept, taking my in-laws with us! They haven't sailed Royal Caribbean before and I hope Anthem will make a good first impression. All of us haven't done this itinerary and we are so excited! It looks beautiful! Sad about your Geiranger experience 😞
  7. Since this post in 2022, I have sailed with Royal 5x (Liberty, Allure, Freedom, Symphony, Harmony) Most of what I have said remains true. -I would add to my original comparison that Royal Caribbean trains their bartenders poorly. I have had some of the WORST made drinks on Royal. Not only do they not taste good, but sometimes the bartenders short pour so they can be pretty weak. Drinks are not consistent in taste, it's like they do not all know the proper recipe OR are not following it. Also, the bartenders are not nearly as friendly as NCL's and some of them seem downright miserable, which is unfortunate. At first I thought this was a fluke or ship specific (I had the drink package on Liberty and have since made Diamond, so I have had most of the drinks on the menus), but I have experienced this on all 5 recent sailings on different ships/itineraries - so imho, has to be the training. -I also had the 3 meal Specialty Dining on Liberty and did Chops, Giovanni's and Sabor. They really PALE in comparison to what NCL offered me at specialty restaurants that are similar. -The buffet is also blah compared to NCL, but I haven't sailed on NCL since 2022 so I do not know if maybe the food has also taken a nose dive on there. Not only is the selection poor, but I really hate the layout and it seems like a VERY small space, even on Oasis class ships, compared to buffets on NCL. -Still really miss something like O'Sheehan's or the Local on Royal. They have Sorrentos/Park Cafe/Promenade Cafe/El Loco Fresh, but these options just are not the same and are pretty limited in the menu. Playmakers/Johnny Rockets is the most similar to The Local/O'Sheehans, but they charge for these two venues. -The Quest is back on Royal but it's very much tamed down and seemed a little repetitive across the sailings I did. Must be using the same layout for almost every ship. An average cruiser wouldn't notice this, but someone who cruises a lot, especially on Royal will
  8. Officially, it has to be through MGM resorts. Says it on Terms of Service fine print, but unofficially, I am unsure. You *might* be able to get the comped, but iffy.
  9. If you get a drink of the day, I'd stay away from the pool bars and go to a slower bar that will make it fresh for you. The worst quality drinks, IMHO, come from the pool bars (I think they just get swamped and maybe they come premixed or something)
  10. Perfect, thank you, just want to make sure I am seeing/doing the correct thing πŸ˜„
  11. Need some excursion ideas for Geiranger. One in our group cannot kayak. πŸ™‚ We are on Royal Caribbean, port times are 7am - 3pm. Here are RCI options. I am thinking of the Mt Dalsnibba Summit but it is just a bus with not a lot of walking, which isn't my favorite. Is the Fjord Center and Scenic Views better option? I know this port is one of the highlights of the itinerary.
  12. Have you tried Titos before? I like it when I can't get Belvedere or Greygoose.

  14. Nervous about my flight tomorrow due to South Florida flooding. FLL closed today. Hope we have clear skies and Florida dries up for us tomorrow
  15. What does the Bird think? I'm calling BS on it not being a cost cutting measure. I've gotten a little spoiled with some of the great entertainment on Royal and was very disappointed to hear about NCL's entertainment cutbacks. I do feel like one production show is light.
  16. @BirdTravels Do let me know how the entertainment is, I remember reading about NCL cutting back so curious about how it plays out IRL.
  17. usually, Pickleball is in the morning for at least a couple hours.
  18. this sucks for a lot of people 😞 Thankfully, I got mine renewed right before Covid so I am good for a while, but whenever I did it precovid, with expedited, it took about 2 weeks
  19. Do they hold up a wet cruiseship towel? Oh and did you fly with these? I am unsure if I can put these in a carry on?
  20. i actually bought some of this type and whenever I put it on the side of my fridge with a single dry bathtowel, it didn't hold up 😞
  21. I bought these for my next cruise. I tested it out with a towel on my fridge and it was ok. only the side of my fridge was magnetic so wasn't a super good test
  22. I've heard different stories on this and have a limited personal experience as I've only been prime since Sept and haven't done the prime tier cruise yet but here it is my first instant cruise certificate booked with the cruise next deal= didn't get obc even though the booking lady said I for sure had it and I couldn't get it resolved onboard. They kept on saying onboard that the wording of the cruise next booking was "dollars off" my cruise and since it was comped, I get zero. Since it was only 50.00 obc and I was new to the program I let it go my second instant cruise certificate I was extra careful when talking to casino royale and learned that the obc is on the emailed invoice they send you so I double and triple checked and I got the obc as promised my third comped cruise via mailer I used a spare certificate I had and the obc didn't show up on my invoice that was emailed and I had to call back and get it added, they were like oops I'm sorry, our bad so who knows, it really depends on who you get when you call. I've also talked to people and cruise next agents about the refundability of that certificate when used for port taxes and fees and have gotten mixed answers and have never personally had to cancel sorry if that's not helpful but that's just my current experience
  23. In my experience, have an honest and KIND conversation with the room steward when you meet them. As others said, you can request morning or evening, but I would also tell the room steward about what time of day you will most be out of your room, and what time you would prefer to have your room cleaned. I doubt they can both put the beds back/pull them out now with going down to one service in a day, but I am sure they could do one or the other (depending on when you want turn down service) If you are nice about it, I am sure they will try to accommodate you. If they can't accommodate, just be understanding about their limitations. Side note: in my opinion, evening turn down would be the best option, with you putting up your bed in the morning by yourself. That way, in the evening, when the room steward is in there, they will pull down the extra bed (s) in the evening and make them for you, which is harder than pushing the bed back in the morning.
