  1. Besides the shower without tub, the best part of the bathroom are the towel bars by the sink rather than dripping all the way to the bar over the toilet. We generally store our bags on the shelf under the sink. I bought small plastic baskets to keep the most-often-used items in and pull the basket out when needed. I did enjoy our 1st cruise in a Vista suite on the Nieuw Statendam last spring. Now I'm spoiled.
  2. The bag has a drawstring to close. Easy to really stuff and then shut.
  3. We rushed through a day trip to Iguazu Falls when we ended in Buenos Aries. Glad we went but it would have been nicer to have more time. Enjoy!
  4. Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes. Being so soon after Christmas, we've usually just wished each other a happy day. One year though, DH decided we should go to Seattle for dinner and a movie. Only problem was I was working at a temporary job-3 am to 11 am 7 days a week so you can guess what happened 2 minutes after the lights went down for the movie. Love all 3 days-friend gave me a loaf she made. It was really good and I asked if she'd share the recipe. It's Alton Brown's Free Range Fruitcake. It's moister than most and just really good! We were at the zoo when we were in Sydney in February and made snowflakes a couple of years ago with DGSs. @dfish, positive thoughts for surgery and don't overdo too soon.
  5. @StLouisCruisersSandi, so glad your DGD wasn't injured and thankful that the jerk was caught. (Wanted to use another word for him but didn't want to be censored.) My sister does mini cross stitch stockings and decorates the fireplace. She had me take some of the patterns to the copy shop to have them enlarged so she could see the details.
  6. That would be fun. We will probably arrive November 17 and stay a few days. Thanks!
  7. Yippee! I just booked our flight to Athens for our November cruise. I was able to use our AlaskaAir miles on Iberia Airlines (I am so tired of British Air being the only option-lousy service and pricy fees). Only drawback is DH will be in Business and I'll be in Premium Economy, but hopefully another seat will open up in the coming months. Now to find tickets from Rome to Atlanta, where we'll stop off to visit DS and DDIL for an early Thanksgiving on the way back-and the long wait!
  8. @grapau27The tablecloth is gorgeous and I love Christmas crackers. They are a tradition at our house. But your gifts inside are much better than what we get. HB to Sarah and Merry Christmas to all.
  9. One thing we found that was helpful when in an inside cabin-depending on when you want to get up and when sunrise is, you can set your tv to the bow cam, with the sound off, and it helps you sort of know what time it might be. A gradual wake-up, if you want to wake up with the sunπŸ™‚.
  10. @StLouisCruisersI thought I saw someone on CC mention this yesterday, but when I "Ducked" it they said a group of baboons is called a troop. The rumor was they were called a congress but that is not true. A troop isn't as funny as a congress though!! That was me, reporting on a bumper sticker I saw. Did a search and found out a congress is a group of salamanders, crows or ravens. It did sound good though.
  11. If you have a National Park Service pass, be sure to take it with you. We used it for our entire tour van when we visited the volcanoes. Our family is spending a week between Kona and Hilo in March (hope I survive ☺️) and we're all looking forward to seeing the park.
  12. @JazzyVI just received an email from Denny's that you can order a complete turkey dinner. It comes with directions for reheating, ready to go. Our local grocery store also has 2 or 3 options for a holiday dinner that is already cooked. @dfishVery nice job on the quilt. Now I feel guilty that I haven't finished DD's quilt. Borders are on 2 sides so getting close-after fixing the 2 squares that I had in the wrong place. Luckily, I had sent her a photo and she noticed the good.
  13. At Costco a couple of weeks ago, I splurged on maple syrup with bourbon-yum! On the way home from Urgent Care yesterday, the car in front of us had a couple of good bumper stickers. One I can remember was, "Is it a coincidence that a large group of baboons is called a Congress?"
  14. Thanks for taking us along! I'd like to order the Ritz cocktail, mushroom soup, rib eye steak (my usual rut but has anyone had the Delmonico?), plain beets and asparagus without the sauce, not-so-classic baked Alaska and Bailey's. Nice way to end the cruise. Have a great holiday.
  15. I hope everyone is having a good start to the weekend. My quiet Saturday morning watching the quilting shows didn't quite happen as planned. Instead, I took DH to Acute Care to have his knees x-rayed. He was cleaning his computer room yesterday afternoon and managed to get his feet tangled with the vacuum cord. Down he went on his knees. This morning he could barely walk or bend one of his knees. Can't believe we were in and out in just under 2 hours-no broken bones or cracks. The doctor was impressed with the condition of his knees-no arthritis at all. Wish mine were that good! Now it's ice and Tylenol and hope it clears up soon. And I'll trade my chocolate too for caramel.
  16. Oh goodie-I'm 1st so they haven't run out of my choices. Lemon drop, asparagus and artichoke without the sauce, tenderloin with shrimp and the Caribbean bread pudding with extra sauce. And Bailey's with decaf coffee, please.
  17. Are you sure that's the reason for bumping into things or could there be another reason????πŸΈπŸ˜‰
  18. Lemon Drop, French Onion soup, flat iron steak and the almond cake-has rum raisin ice cream appeared? Bailey's to finish, of course. Thanks!
  19. Sounds familiar. I was still in school and DH started a teaching job one state away. I had forgotten all about the horrid phone bills. And I still tease him about marrying me because he didn't like cooking after burning his spinach one night. We were going to wait until summer but having a cook took precedence. It's only been 54 years so I guess it worked!πŸ₯°
  20. @Sharon in AZCongrats on the anniversary-I'm happy to see someone else was crazy(?) to get married in December. Our anniversary is Dec. 27-even crazier! As for ham, HoneyBaked Ham Co. usually has ham bones you can buy and they store them in their freezer. The bone still has a lot of ham attached and makes wonderful broth for beans or split peas. Gloomy today after a couple of nice sunny days but no rain yet and close to 50 degrees. DD in Colorado reported on their 4 inches of snow but roads were scraped so no snow day for the boys. Strange weather everywhere. Take care and enjoy the season.
  21. Time to try an Aperol Spritz, plain beets, prime rib-end cut if possible, ricottta raspberry tart and decaf coffee with my Bailey's. Thanks!
