  1. I’ve moved mine from Rainham Boots to my local independent one. Much better, Boots constantly couldn’t get my migraine tablets but my new one has no trouble!
  2. Yes the USA, China and India need to do more - unfortunately they don’t seem very interested.
  3. I was watching it on Sky news too, those poor people, heartbreaking to loose your house like that. Rain and thunder in the last hour here - like Avril I stood in it in the garden for a while! I’m still pretty hot and 27 expected tomorrow- still pretty warm!
  4. Morning hear from sweltering Kent. Tuesday is my day off and todays it’s co-incided with John’s day off and a couple of weeks ago I was planning a nice day out! All we’ve done is a short walk at our Riverside park fairly early - car was in the shade but still said 31! Staying inside now, very hot last night but somehow I slept ok! I take the duvet out the cover in weather like this and just have it like a sheet!
  5. Morning all, my washing dried in just over an hour and I’m sitting in the dining room as it’s cooler then my lounge. I’ve got hubby’s ‘Siri’ pod nearby so I just asked her to play me some Beatles and so I’m reading and singing along! I like the sun and warmth but I’m dreading the next couple of days. The media are making it sound like we’re all going to die! Luckily I’d already arranged to work at home tomorrow due to an appointment and my home ‘office’ is quite cool so that’s good. Also Tuesday is my day off - sitting quietly in a darkened room probably!
  6. My friend was on Iona the week after - she told me the Captain’s name but I’d never heard of him before. His picture was in the horizon newspaper. She said she didn’t warm to him. On other P&O ships I’ve had Captains Camby and Brown announce things like pool of dolphins etc. Even announced when we passed one of the Cunard ships which pleased me because hubby didn’t believe me it was a Cunard one 😀
  7. Luckily I miss those posts! What a shame but at least they’re gone now.
  8. I’ve had Sunday lunch there last summer, fantastic views up on the roof! We had a lovely time. Couldn’t afford to stay there though 😆 Here’s some food and the view.
  9. I’m so sorry to hear all this mega bear. Add me to the list who had the old card but didn’t realise there was a replacement. I hope your Aunt recovers, how scandalous that an ECG that showed there was no problem should be used against her. It’s sickening. Wishing you and your family well.
  10. Afternoon all, extremely hot here in North Kent, bit overcast now but still muggy. It’s been wall to wall sunshine for days. Thanks for all the gorgeous photos of the sea, I’ll add one too! On Sunday we had a few hours on Greatstone beach which is near Dymchurch. It’s a huge beach and not on the main train route so can be quieter than others. The only disappointing thing is the tide goes out so far you don’t get that lovely sound of the waves! Happy birthday and anniversary to those celebrating recently and well done Purplesea on your new job.
  11. Mostly it seems to be with the obstructed balconies on Britannia I’ve found.
  12. Yes I have a friend on this cruise so it will be very interesting to hear what she says when she gets back!
  13. Oh yes sounds much nicer, shame they only got to two ports this cruise though.
  14. I’ve just tried that cruise - you can choose a cabin - you have to click choose cabin then it says ‘we’ll choose for you’ or ‘I want to choose my cabin’ and you can choose.
  15. The best lunch we had was from Vigo with Olly Smith. It was lovely held at a Parador. I suppose with Olly there they wouldn’t give him rubbish 😁
  16. I don’t think you are. GP’s are hard to access round here. In my job I get so many people phoning us because their GP’s won’t help them or it’s an hour wait to get through. I’m in Kent. Having said that I’ve just had breast screening and the (negative) result came through in one week! My first thought was that it must have been bad news!
  17. Re stressing pre holidays, I’m glad I’m not the only one! The stress before our first post C cruise made me wonder if it was worth it for 3 nights! I also hate packing and actually prefer packing for off season breaks when there isn’t such a variety of weather! For a 4 night cruise in November I wore everything I’d packed! So easy! Although I can’t wait for our 13 night cruise in October 23 I know I’ll be mega stressed beforehand.Shame I have to work in the run up to it. Hopefully it will be wonderful once onboard!
  18. Morning all. My Dad’s 85th birthday today so as I’m on the late shift today I treated him and my mum to breakfast in a cafe local to them now ‘Tiktoks’ It’s a lovely very busy independent place. They both enjoyed it very much and my mum, who is quite fussy, was pleased it was lovely and hot. They’ve now gone to buy a new washing machine and I’m back at home ready for my afternoon shift after two days working in the office.
  19. Oh dear, Iona’s cruises to Norway seem full of problems. I’m interested in the cruise on now as my friend is onboard. I see ‘elsewhere’ they’ve missed Hellesylt and will be missing Haugesund due to high winds. Going to Alesund instead.
  20. Morning all, very warm in the south east today! My day off and I went to work for a half hour meeting! That was fine but it takes me 35 mins each way to walk it! I’m sitting down cooling off now but then I’ll probably go in the garden and get hot again! 😁
  21. Hope you have a great time, I’ll look forward to hearing all about it.
