  1. Refer to Maker usually means the company has placed a Stop Payment Order on the check. Maybe they issued it for the the wrong amount? Thought you didn’t get it and stopped payment? You will need to find out what they say and just keep contacting them.
  2. The bear watching excursions can be good, but obviously sightings are not guaranteed. The new aerial tram to the top of the mountain is a good option if it is not raining / foggy. Eleven hours is a long day in ISP.
  3. Icy Strait Point is our favorite port in Alaska. Excellent whale watching, beautiful scenery, nice hiking trails, an authentic Alaska town in Hoonah and best of all, no typical jewelry / t-shirt shops. Try Glacier Winds or Hoonah Travel Adventures for whale watching. Make sure to get some of the mini donuts at the stand near the restrooms.
  4. Whale watching with Glacier Winds is excellent. If they are booked, try Hoonah Travel Adventures. Icy Strait Point is out favorite port since it relatively undeveloped and does not have any shopping other than some local vendors in the restored cannery. The scenery is beautiful, the hiking trails are nice, the mini donuts at the stand near the end of the zip line are excellent.
  5. Spirit uses a different dock, so you shouldn’t be affected. Encore is too large to use any dock there other than the one affected by the rock slide.
  6. I’ve had good results with this as well. Others report no response.
  7. Thanks for the detailed review and glad you enjoyed the cruise. I have taken three cruises this year, two on Carnival, and agree with you about the food. I found the selections and quality of the food to be good in most instances. It’s not gourmet food, but nothing was inedible and about the best you can expect when they are feeding thousands of people 3 meals a day. I’m not sure what the people normally eat that find the food on a cruise so horrible.
  8. I agree. I was able to move jury duty a few years ago due to a cruise. Unless they live in a unique location that doesn’t allow you to move it for any reason, or they have moved it already, that shouldn’t cause them to cancel a cruise.
  9. I saw that Carnival Magic is losing a day in Bermuda due to hurricane Earl also. Hopefully the ships affected can stay away from the worst effects and be safe. It’s never good to have your itinerary changed, but it’s always better to put safety first. I’m sure some will find a way to blame Carnival for the hurricanes, lol.
  10. Sad story from Nassau. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/shark-attack-bahamas-woman-killed-while-snorkeling-royal-caribbean-cruise/#app
  11. We used self-debarkation when it first started, and it worked well since very few used it. Now it seems most use self-debarkation and it is chaos. With the ability to choose your departure tags now, we will choose a high number / later departure in the future to have a better experience.
  12. I guess I’ve been lucky. I’ve sent 4-5 emails for my October cruise and 1 for my May cruise and got replies on all of them, most within 24 hours.
  13. There have been lots of issues with trying to register a credit card online. I was never able to register mine online for my January cruise, but had no issue getting my eDocs and boarding the ship. it was very easy to add my card at one of the kiosks once I boarded the ship.
  14. Definitely Chilkoot Charters in Skagway. I have taken the bus and train combo and just the small bus to the Yukon and enjoyed both of them.
  15. Glad you enjoyed it. I enjoyed my first MSC cruise in January and am booked on 3 more from October to May. I’m not sure why they get so many bad reviews. Maybe expecting a carbon copy of Carnival / Royal Caribbean?
  16. I prefer it to being on hold to wait to talk to someone, sometimes having difficulty understanding the customer service rep and I have a record of what they said. On some things, they will still tell you to call the customer service number.
  17. You can try booking while onboard using the website and Future Vacation rates to see if you have an offer for the next sailing: https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4565/kw/future cruise booking while onboard/session/L3RpbWUvMTY2MjMwMjgyMC9zaWQvZlVuVzUwRjNfeUdYV0N1bkhWRkdmaDl4amJyc3RiRjl6OEYyeVJWdF9tTEFldnNhUXdvejNZUWQ2bXFSTmxRaHJNNGxBX2NTNGk5aWIlN0VoaGNvRGZCa0YzaVp5Q1J2USU3RUwwb1Zfako2aGdWa21MNTQlN0VBVzYlN0VYdnclMjElMjE%3D
  18. If you are currently booked, try mscexistingreservations@msccruisesusa.com They usually reply within 24 hours.
  19. It is an Alabama State Law that restricts the liquor sold on the first day to certain brands. Primarily to protect local alcohol distributors. ” Due to Alabama and Texas alcohol laws, Carnival ships departing from Mobile AL and Galveston TX can't deliver alcoholic drinks to staterooms until the ship is in international waters (delivery may even be delayed until the following day).”
  20. On our 2017 cruise from Vancouver to Seward, we booked American to Vancouver and Delta returning from Anchorage. It was much cheaper than booking round-trip on one airline. We use the Hopper app which allows you to track prices and give suggestions on when to book for the best price.
  21. Thanks for the review. I have been on over 20 cruises and multiple cruise lines, Including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Princess, MSC, etc. and find that they all have some pluses and minuses. The age & size of the ship, the time of year, length of the cruise and sometimes even the departure port can have more to do with your experience than the specific Cruise Line. I agree with your comment about the food. Food is very subjective and I’ve never found anything inedible on any cruise line. Banquet or chain restaurant quality is about the best you can expect in the main dining rooms / buffet when they are serving thousands of people three meals a day or more.
  22. Sometimes there is fog in the mornings that can ruin the views, but there is no guarantee it won’t be clear and Sunny in the morning and foggy / raining in the afternoon when you are there. You might consider a bus / train combo trip to the Yukon, if they allow those next year. Due to Canadian Covid restrictions, they did not run those tours this year. We used Chilkoot Charters for the bus first / train back in 2017 and lived it. The small bus takes you into the Yukon to Carcross & Emerald Lake and stops along the way for photos, if wildlife is sighted, etc. It also includes lunch and the opportunity to ride a dog cart with sled dogs and play with the husky puppies.
  23. More flexibility than they used to, not more flexibility than booking your own. When I used Cruise Line airfare 15 years ago, we had no choice in our flights. From what I understand now, they do give you some flexibility and arriving a few days earlier or choosing your own flight times from options they have. From what I understand now, they do give you some flexibility and arriving a few days earlier or choosing your own flight times from options they have.
