Celebration! / Live! / Solo! Dec-4-11-2022...
odie1024 replied to sid_9169's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Looks like you have great weather in PR except for that shower. We were there 2 days before our cruise in February and it poured for both days. Even the day we left PR it was so bad you could hear everyones phones dinging with weather alerts. When we came back to port the following week it was still pouring. We were doing a B2B and had thought we would have gotten off to explore then but no such luck. Enjoying your review as always. -
I just did a full transit starting in Seattle and ending in Miami. I wanted to do the old locks and also liked going from west to east due to time changes so when I flew home from Florida to Masachusetts there would be no time difference. I was on the NCL Sun 20 day and it was fantastic.

That is why it always pays to check your paperwork immediately once you get it from NCL or your travel agent and confirm everything is correct. I personally have not and will not allow any cruiseline to book my airfare as I want to select when I fly. I have seen too many horror stories told on here and social media.

@sid_9169another calling you are missing. You should be selling these great pictures you are taking, love how you see everything. You would love the Architecture tour on the Chicago River that I did last week. -
Lobster roll looks amazing, once I had butter instead of mayo I was hooked on that type. Have a great day today.

Sitting here with my dirty martini, just finished Sid's intro and now yours. Look forward to your review. I don't cruise till 2/8 for an 11 day and 7 day B2B on NCL. Not sure if I can wait that long but have 3 land trips next year along with my cruises so trying not to hit that buy button. 😁

Have a super time and take time for yourself. Really enjoy your reviews and learning more about Carnival. Look forward to your new restaurant reviews in Miami, YUM! -
Have a great time, look forward to following along. Will be in Key West In February but our stop is only 5 hours so drinking will be limited, besides BF is a lightweight. 😄 BF has never been so need to do some sightseeing in between drinks and food. I got home 2 weeks ago from Panama Canal cruise pretty sick, not Covid, just starting to feel better. After being teased with temps in the 70's above average we are not below average. Currently 21 and will have a coating of snow or slush tonight. Not ready for this.

I was just on the Sun as a solo traveler and the solo meetup was held at either 5:30 or 6 and the solo host would make a dinner reservation every other night for those interested. Otherwise there were groups of 8 or 10 who would go off together to 1 of the main dining rooms. I dined by myself one night and was not a problem at all. Walked in and immediately seated by a window.

Annual medical only insurance: Geoblue or Allianz?
odie1024 replied to fstuff1's topic in Cruise/Travel Insurance
I spoke with someone at Insuremy trip over the weekend. Even though we know Medicare will not pay, it will be filed with them first and once it gets declined then it gets submitted to your policy you bought. -
So frustrating as I am having the same problem. I keep editing contact info hoping for the best. Delete info and start again and still cannot get the check mark. I have never had a problem checking us in before. I am traveling solo this time and my emergency contact was BF I have cruised with before so I tried removing him and adding my brother but still did not work. Any other ideas?

Annual medical only insurance: Geoblue or Allianz?
odie1024 replied to fstuff1's topic in Cruise/Travel Insurance
I was looking at buying both GeoBlue and Allianz as I have 3 international non cruise trips planned for next year and a B2B cruise. Is this right as I am about to turn 70 and my health plan does not include international medical? -
I had to file a claim with AON in January when BF's mom passed away 5 days before we were leaving on a B2B. I had to file 2 claims for the 2 cruises. I was assigned case numbers and would call about every 3 weeks and kept being told its being processed. On one claim they screwed up as they sent it to the wrong cruise line and had to assign a new number so that meant back to square 1. At one point I was told they needed to see if NCL would charge me a penalty, what a penaly for a death! I got the first check at the end of May and the second check about 3 weeks later.

What is the atmosphere on a 1/2 or less full ship?
odie1024 replied to hrmkr's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We sailed the Breakaway last October which was at 30% and actually loved it. Will not look forward to a ship at 100% capacity. -
I noticed the same thing as I just booked a cruise for October and thought I would start the check in process. I sailed NCL in February but don't recall having to wait till 21 days to do everything. At least I found the answer on here. These boards are always helpful.

Airplane arriving one day earlier without my request
odie1024 replied to mythstera's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
You should be thankful that they are getting you there the day before your cruise as I am surprised you would not have asked to get there one day before boarding the ship anyway. If you follow these boards at all you will see the idiots who fly in the day of departure and miss their cruise. Why would this upset you? I don't see why you think NCL should pay for your hotel. Even prior to Covid I always flew in 1 to 2 days early. I am flying from Boston to Tampa in February and flying in 2 days early just in case of bad weather or flight delays.
