Help with a cabin selection on The Celebrity Edge
wineoclock replied to Kitty16tmc's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Wow what a great balcony. Looks better than the one we have booked in CS! I’m limited mobility but I’d take the difficulty walking for that balcony & save my money for extra cruises. Win win. -
On the Beyond Sept 5th. Where are irons or steamers?
wineoclock replied to Lindabee5000's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Same as pp I just use the shower as a steamer with a couple of outfits a time. It soon gets everything crease free. -
Castaway Cay is incredible- been 3 times. 3 cruises in Bahamas & 1 Europe cruise with Disney. Shows & service incredible. But now the kids are grown I’ll stick to Celebrity. Will go back on Disney when we have grandchildren.

Pricing for the Beyond is Beyond reason here
wineoclock replied to Whinenowine's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The prices are high no on the new ships for suites I don’t disagree. For us we only sail suites, we had precise dates we could cruise & celebrity had the itinerary we wanted. There were similar itineraries but not on the dates. I also wouldn’t Sail on the new ships unless I had either a suite or an actual balcony, not a faux balcony. So that rules out Aqua, concierge already. I always look elsewhere when booking but celebrity seems to offer what we want for now. We also do private excursions so for me why go with Regent as I’ll be paying on top for excursions. Will see what crystal comes up with when relaunched. -
First Celebrity Cruise a few questions please
wineoclock replied to Salf777's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I didn’t get an email to bid but looked online. We’ve made a low bid for a RS from CS as I’m not convinced the Alcon space is worth it. I’m an early riser so that’s why I’ve gone with CS as has separate bedroom. Mind you, we usually sail PH so will be interesting to see the difference. -
Issues with Royal Suites on Apex, true or no?
wineoclock replied to cunn9004's topic in Celebrity Cruises
And there really shouldn’t be any disappointment with a PH. I like a proper balcony - probably stems from my days of living in a flat with a Juliet balcony. It was nice but just not good enough. -
Always have travel insurance. Last year a relative was taken unwell while abroad. Seriously unwell & thankfully had ticked travel insurance through his health insurance provider. He was in hospital in Europe for 6 weeks & brought back to U.K. by air ambulance. Another 6 weeks in hospital in U.K. Earlier This year said relative deteriorated to such a degree that we as family cancelled our land holiday in Europe. We are still trying to recoup that from travel insurers but hopefully we will. So lesson learned. I’d rather overpay a few hundred £££ for travel insurance than lose several thousand £££ by not taking it out.

Too Early for Shore Excursions or Sold Out
wineoclock replied to soniam's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We booked a couple of weeks for a cruise on Apex this October & most excursions that I wanted to do were sold out. I’ve gone with private tour operators by looking at recommendations here & hoping it works out. However in your case I suspect that it’s a bit early. We tend to do private tours anyway. -

I don’t see what the big deal is by having to test. Most pharmacies will have an option to do a supervised test if required. Countries are free to impose whatever restrictions they wish. However not going to lie but I’ll be gutted if test I/we positive when as we are so looking forward to our cruise.

It really is an amazing balcony. Enjoy it. I only left the PH on Connie for dinner & ports. An amazing experience.

From shoreside concierge I request: Dining times to fit around shows generally 8pm. Kettle, fresh milk, teapot. I take my own tea. Gin & vodka preference. Fruit plate. Bottled still water.
-
I generally ask for a virgin colada or virgin mojito if I don’t fancy alcohol. There are some very good non alcoholic gins on the market but I don’t know if celebrity have any. I particularly like Seedlip garden with tonic. I’ve seen in Fortnums & Mason a sparkling tea as an alternative to champagne but I’ve not tried it as I like the real stuff.
-
I generally pack a variety of dresses, black trousers & smart tops that can be dressed up with fancy jewellery.

I think it is. I rang our celebrity agent yesterday as I was concerned about the same thing. He said it’s under terms & conditions but I’ve not had a chance to check it yet.

I agree the M class penthouse especially the balcony is fantastic. Just looked at the video for PH on Apex. Lack of a decent balcony & no outside dining space for that money. No chance I’d pay for it. I’d stick to R/S or CS or cruise on M or S class.

We have never gone to lunch/dinner with the officers as we travel with our children & they obviously weren’t invited. Husband worked away a lot so it’s our time to regroup as a family. We’ve done the tours, bridge, sail outs as the children were invited. Our last PH experience was not as good as our previous one. Think it depends on the butler. It wasn’t bad or anything just not as good. Our previous butler seemed to know what we wanted before we did!

Thank you.

I wonder if that may be a legal matter. If they aren’t a true balcony then perhaps they cannot be marketed as such without falling foul of advertising law. Apologies if someone has already said this as I’ll have missed it. I like a proper balcony as I’m an early riser & will sit on it with a coffee. I already know I’ll be disappointed with the CS/RS balcony however I hope the retreat will make up for it. If not I’ll stick to M or S class.
