Keep in mind you do not need to purchase any Internet plan to use the Hub app. The Hub app is free to use, you just pay $5 per device for the duration of your cruise for the chat feature.

No, and we weren’t very impressed with the hub app on Victory last month. Most of out texts were never delivered. We have used it before, and had no problems.

texts are only a small part of the Hub App, we loved it. Basically it's a fun times on your phone.

Depending on the ship, the chat feature may or may not work as well as people would like. I've had it work flawlessly and I've had it not receive half of the messages sent to me.

Love the Hub! & the chat feature. Used it on both the Vista and Ecstasy.

Just back from the Carnival Triumph and we used an app called WhatsApp along with the basic social media pkg. It worked great! We were able to text back home and to contact each other while on the ship when needed.

I use Whatsapp all the time while on ship to communicate back home and it is a great communications app but if one wants to use it for shipboard communications, everyone must purchase the social plan (as a minimum) to communicate. That can be an expensive proposition for some. Now if everyone is already planning on buying the social package anyone then Whatsapp is a far superior app compared the The Hub chat feature.
