Wine Cork Screw?

This will be my first time bringing a bottle of wine on a cruise.

Are we allowed to bring the cork screw> ?

Or do we have to pay a cork remover fee? Or whatever its called?

May sound like a dumb question BUT I am being serious!

I love the drink mixes that use wine. Such as lemontinis and mangotinis.

They are so good and you mix the dry mix with a bottle of wine,.

They taste fab!

While your steward probably will be able to supply you with a corkscrew, I always pack my own. I put it in my checked luggage, and I've never, ever had a problem bringing it onboard (or bringing it on a plane, since it's checked).

I brought a little portable (I guess that would be what it's called) that I bought at the packy. They had them at the counter in a little bucket. I got it on 2 cruises with no problem. If you take your wine to the dining room for dinner they can charge you a corkage fee (I think it's $25 or something like that).

I've brought my steel 'waiter's' corkscrew on many cruises with me. I put it in my carryon and I've never had a problem...

Ask your room steward, he/she will have whatever cork screws would

come if you ordered a bottle of wine from room service and ask them

for white or red wine glasses, whichever you prefer.

We had a cork screw in our room all week and our steward was really

good about replacing our used wine glasses with fresh ones.

We brought bottles of wine and we got a couple bottles in our deluxe fruit baskets from BV and we brought a box of wine - no corkscrew needed.

I have brought a cork screw and pocket knives with me in my checked luggage many times and never had a issue.

This is one of my favorite kinds of wine bottle openers because

the cork cannot not get broken in half and there are no "bits" of cork to fall into the wine. However, about 50% of the people I have tried to teach how to use this cannot figure it out.

You wiggle the two prongs alongside the cork so the prongs

are wedged between the bottle and the cork and then slowly

turn and pull at the same time. There are instructions on the web

if you search for "two prong corkscrew".

I asked the room steward for a cork screw and found a $40 charge on my bill!!!!!:confused: :(

Our first Cruise we brought wine and no corkscrew. The room steward gave us a "Carnival" plastic corkscrew and we pack it for every cruise. I just keep it in my cruise bag in the top of my closet and it is always ready to go.

When we fly down to Fl for our cruise, I pack our corkscrew in the checked baggage. When arriving at the hotl for the day before, I put it in our carry on.

Corkscrews are perfectly fine, unless the blade is longer than 4 inches

I always leave a corkscrew in my checkon bag with a foil cutter on the top pouch of my suitcase. That way if I need a small knife, it's there. Obviously, I always need a corkscrew and it's there.

I have no idea why a corkscrew would be confiscated......

I've also have had stewards open them for me and don't know why they would "sell' you one, I'm guessing the guest was mistaken.

Take one and I have yet to see a foil cutter more than four inches long.... I think that's calleda knife.

When I worked at a steak and lobster restaurant this was called the "Ah So Easy" wine opener. Small, compact & effective. I just picked one up today for $4. As highbridge said, you place the prongs on both sides of the cork & *rock* the top back and forth on the palm of your hand until it is flush with the cork. Twist and pull out...... ah so e-z :)
