Casting off from Port Canaveral now following majesty of the seas out . Just finished the muster drill only 30 minutes not too bad. Parked off site in order to save $70 . I pre purchased the value internet package and soda package that saved another few dollars. We ate at the bbq on deck 5 not crowded at all good food we have your time dining tonight I’ll let you know how that goes later . If you have any questions I’ll try to answer them I plan to post a review throughout the 8 day cruise John

It’s 11 pm just left the casino not the best night but not my worst. We watched the official lighting of the Christmas tree Emma, the cruise director, presided over the lighting she seemed very enthusiastic and told a few bad jokes nothing unusual for cruise directors. The tree is very nice and the lights brighten up the deck 3 promenade. After the tree lighting we went for your time dinner on this ship you have to go to deck 5 aft to get a time and then go to deck 3 to be seated. We asked for a table for 2 our experience has been the more people at the table the longer the meal lasts. We sat down at 615 and were done with dessert at 705, not bad for first night dinner. The food was a little above average for the mdr all in all not a bad experience. We took a walk around the dive in movie it was a the boss baby looked like fun stopped in the casino the smoke is pretty bad but not outrageous typical cruise ship casino there were several $1000 plus jackpots announce unfortunately none were mine or Eileen’s. Our luggage arrived while we were at dinner the room steward put the bags in our room. We came up unpacked and that pretty much covers day 1 . Tomorrow is a seas day I’ll post more on the ship then

Couple of questions. Are you going to any if the specialty restaurants? Also can you post the fun times? Going in January on the Sunshine.

Thanks so much for the Fun Times as we're likely on a Sunshine 8 day next summer. I'm guessing you don't have Day 1? Do you remember when the Welcome Aboard show was?

You mention BBQ deck 5 for lunch. I don't see it listed in the Fun Times. What type of BBQ is it and where is it served?

And based on what you wrote for entertainment, is it really true that all of the PG comedy conflicts with the late shows (9 pm)? Never seen that before.

Closely following the rest of your review. Thanks. :)

We were on this ship Thanksgiving week. I had the internet value but upgraded. Found internet almost useless the entire 8 days. The hub was very slow. Sometimes taken 20 minutes or so before the party received the message if at all. I hope you have better luck.

so cool that you'll be posting as you go...makes us feel like we're right there with you. I'm interested in your thoughts on how long in advance to get in line for comedy, the chair hogging situation on open decks, and chair availability at Serenity. Thanks!!! :D

Well day 2 is about over knocking off early in order to watch a couple of college football games. We started off today at about 8 am with breakfast at the buffet . There are 2 omlet stations at the aft end of the buffet.Breakfast is one of my favorite meals on cruises we go a bit early so it’s never very crowded and the staff actually has sometime to chat it’s always nice to ask them about where they’re from and to talk with them about their different jobs and ships they’re worked on. We were reminded there is a brunch served on deck 3 aft in the sunshine dining room from 830 until 1 pm on sea days we went down to check it out it’s a sit down menu with brunch choices that include steak and eggs, salmon and bagels among other items it’s a limited menu but it’s not crowded and is an option to the buffet. We went up to the top deck in the serenity area we got a clamshell with a table and stool the hot tub is on this deck and surprisingly there were no kids up there the entire time we were there one deck down there were more padded lounge chairs and clamshells they are free and first come first gets things I was surprised there were no chair hogs and this was at 9 am the next deck down was the serenity pool there is a waterfall that dumps into the pool it’s a really nice area more chairs and padded loungers this is supposed to be a kid free zone but there were a few small ones there and they were well supervised by their parents. Lunch at the deli on deck 9 up to the room for a change and a quick nap back down to the casino more people were hitting $1000 plus slots the largest I heard announced was $5900 not bad for a slot on a cruise ship. Tonight was first formal night so lobster night in the mdr lots of different ideas of formal these days rock and roll and dancing in-the promenade decks 3/4/5 .So far this cruise has been pretty easy and enjoyable if there’s one thing I would change it is the layout of the ship it’s very confusing and difficult to navigate from one venue to another I think I’ve finally got it the key is deck 5 that’s the deck that goes all the way through the rest are like a maze I’m sure by the 4 th day I’ll have it figured out. I’m going to watch some football now I may go back out after the games. If you have any questions please ask.
