Star Princess Cigar Smoking Lounge?

While cruising, my wife and I enjoy a small Amaretto infused Cigarillo after dinner. We'll be spending 15 days aboard the Star Princess next year, and are curious if there is a Cigar Lounge, or outdoor smoking area aboard the ship? We would appreciate any info previous cruisers aboard the Star can share.:)

I am very sensitive to smells and yes it does smell. Personally, I wish all smoking would be banned from all ships. I will not even walk through the Casino exiting shows as that putrid smell is nauseating. One year we were travelling with family and friends and we have two cabins booked side by side on Deck 5 right behind the Art Gallery, the ship had been in dry dock the week prior. Apparently, Princess allows the workers to go out on deck for a smoke. These people then did work in the rooms and corridors and the room doors were open. So, when we got to our rooms, they were permeated with a smoke smell. Well, by gosh, there was no way we were taking a "smoking room". Luckily the only rooms that were available and we waited until 11 pm at night were Balcony rooms, well, guess what, that is what we got at no extra charge. So, for all you smokers - I wish it were banned on all ships and I believe that this day is coming. My opinion. I do not mean to be offensive but this is one activity that really does impact a lot of other innocent people. You obviously have become impervious to the smell since you have grown so accustomed to it. You could wearing the finest silk and be decked out to the hilts but as soon as you walk into an elevator after having been to the smoker's lounge, the trail of stinky smoke follows you. It is very unpleasant and not even the finest perfume can mask the smell of a cigar or cigarette smoke.

Not to diminsh your experiences or turn this into a smoke bashing thread but did you even get to a show lounge early to get a decent seat and then later have a smoker arrive at the last moment and sit near you? Disgusting, and there not much you can do at that point in time to change seats.

Floridalover5623,

We always try to get to the shows early at least (1/2 hour). And, yes, there we are all cozy, enjoying a drink and in walks someone who just left the Cigar Lounge. One has to get up and find another seat to escape that stench. I wish cigarette smokers could smell how they really smell because it just isn't pleasant. Nary a perfume can hide that smell. I am not trying to be mean at all to the avid smokers, but truth be told the smell of cigarettes and cigars is simply unpleasant to the non smokers in a confined space like a theatre. Some unwelcome advice - use the cruise as a "try to stop smoking time". Everyone around you will appreciate it.

Unfortunately you're trapped in the seat with no where to go at that time and they'll never be a solution to the problem.

On the good side, the problem has diminished considerable from what it used to be years ago. :)

For peet sakes....snarky non smokers comments. I hate sitting on a 5- 8 hour flight with non stopping talking heads, wanting to say shut up your giving me a head ache, but I endure it...rolling my eyes! Just listen to yourself ... they pay just like we all do!

Actually, they are quite nice. I buy my cigars from a supplier in San Juan. He ships them to me every 90 days or so. I buy Quilambos, which are around 4.5" long. I put them in a humidor with a hydrator, a mason jar shot glass containing Ameretto, and a paper towel rolled into a cylinder that acts like a wick. I check the humidor every couple of weeks, and six weeks later, they are ready to enjoy. I have to mention, neither my wife nor I are smokers. On occasion, we enjoy the taste of a fine cigar, but we don't inhale, and make every effort to enjoy our cigars outdoors, away from non-smokers. It seems that that isn't possible aboard the Star, as least for those who enjoy a good cigar.
