1st time on Valor questions

Howdy CC friends,

I've "searched" for a few of my questions and can't find the specific answers and wonder if you could help me.

1. I've never been on Valor. Looking at the ship, I see "Fish n Chips" on the 2nd level of the buffet. Is this free or a charge?

2. For the aft dining room, I've looked at picture but don't know how current the pics are. Are there tables for 2 only in the aft dining room for early dining?

3. We'll be going on a 4 day cruise (and most of mine have been 5 day or 7 day), so I can't find this info.....will they serve escargot in the MDR? I know lobster and Platinum party are for 5 days or longer cruises, which is a bummer, but I'm already aware of those.

4. From what I'm finding in my searches, it looks as if the Platinum gift currently on the Valor are the bags. Anyone have other information on what the gift may be for September?

5. For current Valor cruisers who had an OV cabin on deck 2 (midship), were the rooms cold, hot or comfortable? And, for the main theater, casino and aft lounge, are those areas really cold and should I bring a light jacket?

Thanks so much for all your help in my questions. Happy cruising everyone :)

Valor has BBQ now instead of fish and chips, they do have seafood shack they charge for across from pizza.

Valor is cold to me, yes be prepared. It's been the bags all summer for the gifts. No escargot or lobster on the 4 day trip. No plat or diamond party either. It is though a good weekend getaway!

We just cruised on the valor at thanksgiving for the 4 day but in October on the five day. Our first time doing the YTD so we were in the other dining room, not the aft. We did ask for and got table for two every night. Only two nights we got tables next to others, they were very close together but we still were able to have a private time together. The couples next to us were very nice and we talked briefly but then we all went back to our conversations. I don’t remember escargot but on both cruises, no lobster, although the other items were there, the jumbo shrimp dish was delicious for formal night. We had ribs, salmon, chicken breast, etc. we didn’t miss any meals and didn’t feel slighted at all. The cruise went so fast, we didn’t have time to miss the d/p party. On the November cruise, thanksgiving day, we went to the steakhouse and it was fabulous. We also did the cooking demonstration both cruises (noon on the first sea day , must get there early to get in )and always go to the brunch on sea days and have omelets on lido other days.

Plat gift for me was the metal cup, which I love. I have not cruised yet this year, my first cruise is not until August 5. Then sep 29 and nov 22 .

Cabins , oct we had the aft ocean view 2475 and had our fan running all the time while in the cabin. Otherwise, the air would go off in the middle of the night and we would get hot and wake up. In November we had second deck mid ship and same , ocean view cabin we needed the fan on overnight for both the white noise and to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Everywhere else on the ship was freezing cold and the cabin would start out cold but then warm up, but it would cool down again. We just adjust. Have fun, obviously we like the valor, we traveled on her twice last year and again this year for thanksgiving. We are doing the freedom and the breeze too but I would not hesitate to sail on a four or five day just to sail again. I could sail every quarter if I could afford to and had someone who would go but work gets in the way :) happy cruising to you.

Our mid deck OV was comfortable to me last Nov.

The aft lounges were comfortable as well. The main lounge was chilly as always!

We ate the bbq once and, although my husband ate it, everything was cold!

We really enjoyed the trip. Going on her again this January.

If you plan on going to the comedy shows we found going half an hour early guaranteed choice of seats, it was packed with people standing every night. We cruised late March and temperatures in cabin and other areas were perfect to me. Really enjoyed everything about this cruise.

Just off the Valor two weeks ago. Ship was COLD!!! Make sure you bring a parka to wear if you want to watch a show!! We saw so many people huddled under blankets and Carnival towels in there. We actually left one night before show even started because it was just too cold in there! We were in a grand suite and that room was FREEZING. Didn’t seem to matter what we set the thermostat on. It just stayed cold.

The comedy club didn’t see quite as cold as the theater but it was still quite chilly. The Lido area was quite cold as well. We always tried to find outdoor seating in order to be warm.

Crowds did not seem to be an issue. Had any time dining and never had to wait for a table nor did I see anyone else waiting. Never had to stand in line for comedy club. We walked in several times at the last minute and were able to find a seat.

We all started getting sick the day we came home from our cruise and only just now feeling better. I think it was because we were so frozen half the time on the ship. So make sure to pack something warm!
