GTY Staterooms

Recommended Posts

What has been experience on booking a GTY stateroom? We have booked a W-Deluxe/Suite Guarantee room for a Harmony 2/25/17 sailing. Still waiting on room assignment (understand it could be up to day of sailing) - but just curious to hear experience of booking this category.

We booked balcony GTY on Allure last year. We were assigned a D4 cabin in a location we did not like. We were able to change location within the same category (D4 balcony).

I know we booked a different GTY than you did and you are guaranteed a suite, but I thought I would share that you can switch cabins after they are assigned, as long as it is in the same category. Enjoy your cruise on Harmony! [emoji846]

We did a Suite gty on the Monarch a number of years ago. We were put into a Grand Suite. Nice cabin.

On Celebrity we did a Suite Gty and were assigned a Royal Suite, never have had a better cabin.

The price has to be right to get us to look at suites, in both cases the prices were right. We have also booked a GS straight up. Sometimes we like to have the extra room.

Exactly how does the gty work? I was looking at different bookings last night, and saw this option. Do you just sign up for a particular cabin type, at a reduced price, then wait for RC to assign you a room within that category? I wouldn't mind trying this in the future, but don't understand all the details.

Correct, you choose a guarantee category and the cruise line assigns you a stateroom anywhere in that category or better. Your assignment can come anytime between when you book and when you arrive at the pier.

I was wondering about this also. We just booked a balcony guarantee on the July 13, 2017 Grandeur cruise. There were no balcony cabins to chose, our only option for a balcony was a guarantee. I assume we will get one of the balcony cabins on deck 7 as they are all on the same deck. Seeing as we aren't picky, I figured this must be ok.

We booked a gty balcony , on our next TA,

Price considerably less than booking a named cabin,

Got the cabin number a few hours later

A superior balcony in a good location, so very pleased

We took the chance to save Loads of £££, to use on the flights

Is the gty price the lowest price in that particular category, or could it actually be lower?

The GTY is usually the lowest price in a category, but not always. I've seen a couple of very rare examples of a JS being less than a W guarantee.
