A review of our cruise on the NCL Epic 25 November 2017

A little background, this was cruise number 96 with 19 cruises on NCL.

Embarkation at Port Canaveral was fast and easy. After dropping our luggage off in our room my wife and I had lunch at Taste; service was quick and the food was excellent. We then walked around the ship visiting the various restaurants and bars. After the Muster drill which for us was in Cagney's restaurant, we went back to the cabin to shower and change for dinner. We met our Room Seward, Edwardo who took excellent care of us throughout the cruise. We had an early dinner at Cagney's, I had the rib eye and Barbara had the filet. The meal and service was excellent. For some reason the oysters Rockefeller was not on our menu as an appetizer but the waitress pointed it out that they were available. They were perfect. We had the dinner package and ate at Cagney's three nights, La Cucina , Le Bistro, Shanghai's and Spiegel Tent Cirque show one night each. The food and service were excellent. On the first sea day we attended the Cruise Critic meet and greet and met the Hotel Director and his senior staff and our fellow CC members. There was a continental breakfast set up for the meeting. A raffle and gift exchange was arranged by the leaders of the CC meeting. Fun!

We saw only a few shows. The main two comedians were good but the lady comedy club host was not much of a comedian; she was really bad. This was the second time we saw Priscilla Queen of the Desert on the Epic and though this production was excellent,it was a little better than the first one we saw. It is not for children and that fact is well publicized through the advertisements for the show.

We were on the same deck as the single studios cabins. We wanted to see the lounge ares for the studios and asked Kim (a junior room steward for China, on his first contract) if we could see the lounge. He took us to the lounge area and showed us around. It looked very nice. We heard that some passengers, although couple, book two adjoining studio cabins and find it cheaper than a regular inside cabin.

We attended the Latitudes party held in the Bliss. We sat in the back and noticed how rude some of the passengers were. Several of the guests would not stop talking, even when the Captain was giving his welcome speech. there were many passengers who were on the transatlantic trip to Port Canaveral and had heard all this before. If you're only going to the party for the free drinks, that's fine, but at least respect the fact that one of the hosts of the party is speaking to their guests and most of us would like to hear what they're saying.

We did get desserts in the buffet - Garden Cafe. Davor is a restaurant manager and you can't miss him. He's one of the tallest officers on the ship and you'll see him all day checking on every venue where there is food. You may also meet Nikola who is often in O'sheehan's and is the maitre d' in Le Bistro at night. Both of these gentlemen are more than willing to answer any questions about anything that has to do with the Epic and life at sea. if you go to the Italian restaurant, Damoodar is the assistant maitre d' and he is most helpful explaining the menu and making your meal the most enjoyable on board.

The Hotel Director Nelson and his secretary Grace could be seen every where on the ship engaging with the passengers. They truly made our trip special.

Every crew member we interacted with was friendly and courteous.
