NHL Playoffs

From what I have researched, It appears that I will not get to watch any NHL games during our cruise. Sailing on Caribbean Princess. We always disconnect from daily life while cruising, so we have never used the internet while onboard other than printing boarding passes from the ships Internet cafe. Do you think I would be able to use the ships internet to log onto my Direct TV account and watch on a laptop or tablet? Will internet connectivity be an issue to stream a sporting event? If this is doable, what areas of the ship would we be able to watch (preferably any bar)? We would not want to be intrusive to others, so would this be in poor taste in a public area as long as we keep the volume turned off? We could watch in our stateroom if needed.

Thanks.

The Caribbean Princess has the old slow internet. I'm not really sure if it would be fast enough to stream. If it is you would have to purchase all the mins you need as you are charged for every minute you are connected.

Pre-Purchase

120 mins @ $59

240 mins @ $99

460 mins @ $159

680 mins @ $199

If you can stream it you can watch anywhere on the ship. Just plug in your ear phones if in a public space. Wi-fi works almost everywhere.

You can ask once on board if the game you want will be on cabin TV. If no, it may be on at the bar in Club Fusion, at the Casino Bar or in Churchill's Cigar lounge.

Actually, when I was cruising on the Majestic Princess last April around this time, we DID get the NHL playoffs, since one of the dedicated channels we got on board was a Euro sports channel that had the rights to the Stanley Cup, as well as other US sporting events. Since we were cruising in the Mediterranean at the time, it meant very early morning broadcasts, but it was live hockey. So I guess it depends on the ship....

Fortunately this isn't something I'll have to worry about on:loudcry: my 4/15 cruise because my Blackhawks DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE STUPID PLAY-OFFS.
Well, not much sympathy on that from a Lightning fan! I would be thrilled with NHL playoffs later this month on our cabin TV. Time will tell.

From Central Ohio, we are cheering for the Blue Jackets. They are now 1-0 in their playoff series versus the top-ranked Washington Capitals. Go CBJ!

Keep an eye on our Winnipeg Jets

I have no worries about any games being broadcast while on the ship now. Congratulations to the Jets! I saw some stats before game 7 that showed how even the series was, but in my opinion I thought the Jets outplayed the Preds and were the better team. You have great fans and I hope you reach the finals. I would like to see the Jets/Caps playing for the Cup as I still pull for Barry Trotz. Would be happy to see either of those teams win.

Well, tonight looks like the Lightning are going down and who wouldn’t like CoachTrotz from Thompson. Don Cherry has Wpg playing Tampa in the finals, I’m predicting Jets and Caps, that is after Jests knock off Vegas in 6 games
