Pros/Cons of being on the lower Riviera Deck of the Fantasy--We will be a party of 3. Someone else made the booking. I see we are on the Carnival Fantasy Riviera Deck, basically the first deck? Are there problems with this?

Also is there a good site to look for the possibilities of an upgrade. Thanks all.

We love riviera deck or main deck, it has always been our preference. If mid ship, very comfortable ride, and we often walk the short flights of stairs to get up to dining rooms, casino, promenade, atrium. If we are first floor aft, we always ride the elevator straight up to pizza and walk across to lido activities. I guess you can say I have no cons about anywhere in the ship. And when returning from port, we just take the stairs instead of waiting for the elevator, just one deck up.

I love Fantasy-class ships. To save money on them I choose porthole rooms... price of an inside with a view to the outside, best of both worlds. Riviera deck is great. Even with a full window, I love being low. It's stable, even at the front with the portholes. The perspective is awesome, so close to the sea. The only time I have experienced any discomfort was when I had a room at the aft and the engine vibrations were pretty strong coming into and leaving port, but that wouldn't keep me from booking that location again.

  • 2 weeks later...

Cruised midship R131 last week. It was great - easy to get off the ship on port days, quiet, and easy to get to wherever we needed to be. My biggest complaint is that at the elevator banks, there is no "ding" or sound to let you know the elevator has come, so if you're looking one way, you may miss the open elevator behind you.

Only issue we had on this cruise was a flood in our shower but that was resolved within an hour and followed up on by guest services. I would definitely recommend the Riviera deck. We had a lovely view of the water, not too close to our window and no obstructions with things like lifeboats as we've had on other cruises.
