How Many Days to Start Packing

No bigger dog lover than me but pet friendly cruises …? No.:rolleyes:

I always wait till the last minute as it really upsets my dog as she realizes I'm leaving her.

I thought we had the only dog who got depressed at the sight of our luggage. That’s the main reason we pack at the last minute.

Poor Puppy. My babies get upset when they see my suit case too.

Part of the fun in preparing for cruise (at least for me) is starting packing, and given limitations on what you can carry, airlines, etc, packing requires some strategy :)

 

Im curious how many days ahead of time others start packing ??

 

I Assume length of cruise has some impact.

While I might have some idea as to what I will be packing the main variable on any vacation is the weather. I pack the day before based on the latest weather predictions. I always take the day before any trip off from work so I’m not rushed.

Part of the fun in preparing for cruise (at least for me) is starting packing, and given limitations on what you can carry, airlines, etc, packing requires some strategy :)

The night before and morning of the cruise

I take the suitcase out two weeks before and I start putting things in. Any dress clothes go in the night before.

I start my Trip Collection in the spare room prob 3-4 months in advance. This time I won't pack my clothes until a couple of days before but will make sure everything is washed the weekend before travel. All bags will be ready to go the afternoon before travel.

We still work and have kids, so a week before is ideal.

Planning starts as soon as the cruise is booked, but really kicks in 3-6 months before that if we need to buy stuff (to allow for sales, etc). That's part of the fun for me too.

The actual packing is a chore to me. Planning on what I need to pack is fun. Finally used packing cubes on our last trip (in part due to those airline baggage restrictions but mostly because we needed to pack and unpack multiple times and had to lug around our luggage ourselves for 2 weeks).

We tend to just do 7 day cruises though, so luggage tends not to be as big a deal. If you're like us and plan out what outfits and stuff you're bringing, we do that at least 2 weeks before so that the suitcases will be packed about a week or at least a few days before the trip. We leave the suitcases open for last minute things and electronics typically can't be packed until the last second.

I love planning what I’ll wear on my cruise. I make lists also.

I pack less each time. This past cruise I picked my daily outfits [emoji10] ironed and rolled them up and stuffed them into ziplock gallon bags.

It made my suitcase so neat! It was a freedom.

But I still brought a couple unworn bags full home.

One thing I didn’t have enough of was WARM clothes. It’s freezing on the ship. Especially early May out of Boston. In and outside.

Really cold in Cellars. I wonder if it was a fluke that week.
