hamrag Posted January 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2018 For what it is worth, my guess would be days 3 and 9! Can anyone advise please, is the first gala night a "meet the captain" event with drinks available for half an hour or thereabouts?
Rare kazu Posted January 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2018 For what it is worth, my guess would be days 3 and 9! Can anyone advise please, is the first gala night a "meet the captain" event with drinks available for half an hour or thereabouts? There is usually an introduction to the crew and a welcome on the first gala night in the show room. It usually lasts around 15 minutes or so now. Sparkling wine is usually offered IIRC. Krazy Kruizers Posted January 23, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2018 HAL doesn't have formal nights anymore. They are now called Gala nights. Men for the most part wear nice slacks and a collared shirt. Some will wear a jacket and a tie. You will see a few in tuxedo. Ladies usually wear nice dresses or slacks with fancy tops. Only a few will wear long dresses. Gala nights could day 2 or 3 and 9.
Reagan0712 Posted January 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2018 This leads me to ask...any guesses on how many gala nights would there be over the course of a 27 day cruise?
cruzngal Posted January 23, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2018 I'd guess that Day 7 would be a formal night, since it's a sea day. I'd also guess day 3 for the Welcome Gala, and and maybe day 10 for the Farewell Gala.
VAtravelers100 Posted January 23, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Thanks for the replies. I did read up on the change from Formal Nights to Gala Nights. That makes planning easier for us, actually. I appreciate the feedback!!
HELENPSL Posted January 23, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2018 This leads me to ask...any guesses on how many gala nights would there be over the course of a 27 day cruise? On our 30 cruise we have 6 gala nights. I would guess 5 or 6 for you. Helen Sent from my iPad using Forums
