marktwothousand Posted January 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2018 hey all. Anyone know what the chances of drop-in dining for two would be at Teppanaki on the Excape? I have a specific day I want bc it’s for a birthday (an at-sea day) this weekend. I know this is one of the most popular spots but Do they leave any spots for people to book on board? What’s the best strategy for trying to clinch something...and we don’t mind standing by at the door for an hour or so if there’s a cancellation list. candigirl41 Posted January 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2018 I would try to book it as soon as you board the ship. I doubt you would get in on a drop in. I want to book this restaurant on my Star cruise and I cannot book it ahead because it isn't showing available. I am going straight to the dining desk to book when I board. I am hoping I will have a shot if I do it right away. Good luck. I hope you get to go. It's really an amazing meal. Candi

If you have a specific day in mind, make your reservation when you get on board, they do save time slots for those who like to book on the ship. This is done at Headliners. We booked ours then. You may wait until the day of as a walk in and be lucky enough to have cancellations but it's best to book ahead of time. Headliners is on Deck 6 just below Deck 7 where you embark. It is across from Le Bistro. Go straight forward through the casino area to the second atrium and go down the glass stairwell. There are several lines - Vibe, drink package. Restaurant reservations is the last line.

Is long as you go to the reservation desk as soon as you board you will have no problem getting a Teppenyaki reservation. As they haven’t been available to reserve there are lots of spaces available to reserve when onboard. We did it straight after boarding the Star and had our pick of times. marktwothousand Posted January 15, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 15, 2018 Thanx all! Ya, I been to the place before on the Epic, but we made same-day rezzes on board for later in the sailing. Anyone know if they sell cakes on request at this restaurant? I’d like to try and get a happy birthday brought to us as a surprise. As it’s a pretty lively setting, it would be an appropriate place for it. Has anyone seen a happy Birthday brought in? Even if you haven’t ordered one yourself... As stated, they do keep some reservations back to book onboard. There are other options as well as going to the reservation desk. You can make reservations on the big screens near the stairways. Also, if you download the iconcierge app you can do it via that. Some people have reported being able to use the app whilst still waiting to board. The easiest way to book is to use the touch screen kiosks in public areas (around elevators) as soon as you board. Easier than clunky iconcerge app. Or, they have a dining reservation center set up in Headliners on embarkation day to help you.
jdvmd Posted January 15, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2018 We were on the Escape three weeks ago and never were able to get a reservation at Teppanaki, either drop in or by making a reservation. Concierge couldn't help either. We were a larger party of five, however.
marktwothousand Posted January 16, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted January 16, 2018 That’s disheartening but ya, a party of five might have trouble. Does anyone know what the cancelation policy is if I book ahead online? There is one undesirable time slot available right now, but I’ll take it if I can’t find anything else, but if we decide to cancel it or reschedule, will our money be refunded? How does that work? If it’s refundable I will snag the last spot tonight. Thanks.

It wouldn’t surprise me if being a group of 5 was the issue, as they probably only keep a few spaces per table. Having said that, the Escape has enough tables that you’d have thought they could juggle things around a little.
