stitchcreek Posted August 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2017 We are staying near Bourbon Street and need to get to the NCL cruise terminal (I believe this is Julia Street terminal). Is this walkable with luggage, or would you get a taxi? How much would a taxi be approximately?
paf910 Posted August 10, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2017 I would definitely get a taxi or Uber to the cruise terminal. I'm not sure how much it would cost. It's quite a walk especially with luggage Sent from my SM-T357T using Forums mobile app

martinchem Posted August 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2017 We'll be doing this our 4th time this December, walking is no problem as long as the weather holds up.
perditax Posted August 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2017 I was curious about this because I've been to NOLA many times but never the cruise port, and I might cruise out of there someday. Google maps calls it a 26 minute walk, but it looks like it's calculating from Bourbon street right in the middle of the French Quarter. I guess if you were closer to Canal street it might not be *as* bad, but that would still be a long walk with lots of vehicle and foot traffic, uneven sidewalks, confused/drunk tourists and street scammers. stitchcreek Posted August 14, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted August 14, 2017 I think a 10 minute walk would be long enough dragging luggage around, so taxi it is!
Rare Wildcatllamas Posted August 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 14, 2017 I believe the cab from the NCL port to Hotel Monteleon was $8 a person when my sister and I got back from a cruise. I definitely wouldn't try to walk it with luggage.
swscruiser Posted August 18, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2017 It is $8pp from anywhere in the French Quarter to the port
B-May Posted August 24, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 24, 2017 We are staying at the Residence Inn on St. Josephs, near Julia. Are we able to walk down Julia and get to the pier? It looks like there is an overhead walkway but not sure how to get to it. Google satellite wasn't too clear. Tx.
jgmpuma Posted August 24, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 24, 2017 Walk down Julia Street and cross Convention Center Blvd. The covered walkway you see will take you to an escalator up to the Riverwalk Outlet Mall. There are two cruise terminals: Erato (Carnival) and Julia (all others). When you enter the mall there will be an elevator to the left that will take you to Julia. If you are going to Erato, go out the doors straight across the mall. They open onto a covered walkway that ends at a set of stairs that will out you at the terminal. B-May Posted August 25, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 25, 2017 Thanks. We're doing NCL so the elevator it is. Now for the weather to cooperate for our walk! We don't go until December.
jgmpuma Posted August 25, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 25, 2017 There is an alternate route to the NCL terminal. Instead of using the escalator, cross the railroad tracks and it is a short walk (right) to the terminal. There are signs saying not to do this, since you are walking against traffic, but it will save you some steps.
