Tarquin Posted June 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2017 I've searched for temperatures online so have an idea of the average which is said to be 20c, 70F but how does this relate to whether it's hot enough to sunbathe when doing one of the Fjord cruises? I mean proper sunbathing, not catching a few rays with a cardigan around one's shoulders;p
davecttr Posted June 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Norwegian weather is very variable so for my July cruise there I am taking shorts but also a light fleece, lightweight rain jacket and a hat ;)
eddie11 Posted June 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Think Lake District
Rare Eglesbrech Posted June 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2017 You might very well get the odd day of full sunbathing but generally when we have been there at that time of year it is shorts and a light fleece. T shirts /shorts only between 11 and 3 on a good day. It is however beautiful.
Thejuggler Posted June 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Could be 25 degrees, could be 10 degrees with constant rain and fog. We've had both!
Green Cathedral Posted June 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2017 As Eddie says, I'm thinking Lake District/ Scottish Highlands where one can get four seasons in one day all the year round!
terrierjohn Posted June 17, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Could be 25 degrees, could be 10 degrees with constant rain and fog. We've had both! Unfortunately that's very true, but you may be lucky, we had wall to wall sunshine last year in min august, and Britannia's pool was full of sunbathers. dsrdsrdsr Posted June 17, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Geiranger is 23 degrees of latitude north of (say) Majorca, which means that the sun is 23 degrees lower in the sky. Your Majorca noon sunshine of sun practically overhead is replaced by Geiranger noon sunshine of only a bit more than 45 degrees angle. With consequent loss of direct heat. So even if it's warm enough for a sun worshipper to lie out in next to no clothes, you won't get the same tanning effect.
Tarquin Posted June 17, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Thankyou all... Looking to book a late getaway and Norway is the only option n the day we can travel. Think i'll be outnumbered by my sun worshipping wide and daughters!:(
Calders Posted June 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 17, 2017 We done last august on brittania and didn't have good weather at all , apart from the odd sunny spell it was mainly overcast with drizzly showers now and then, but quite warm!! despite the weather we had a fantastic cruise, the fjords are spectacular and we would do it again in a heartbeat, but we fancied a bit of guareteed sunshine this year (hopefully) so have opted for the canaries on Ventura. mandylennon Posted June 18, 2017 #11 Share Posted June 18, 2017 We are going to Norway next Sunday and to be honest after the weather this week I am looking forward to a colder climate, sorry.
annieuk Posted June 19, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 19, 2017 We did a Fjords cruise in July a few years ago. In Bergen it was overcast but then turned into sunshine later in the day. When we went up to Gerainger it was overcast all the way unfortunately. However, for the rest of the cruise it was hot sunshine so we had everything from wearing a fleece to putting on sunscreen. Be prepared for everything!
