Gator83 Posted November 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2017 Hi, Can anyone tell me the cost of a taxi from the cruise pier in Havana to the Cannon Shot Ceremony and should I get there a few hours early? How long is the cab ride? Thank you

kathy49 Posted March 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2018 it is not that far away from cruise pier...as for getting there hours early...not sure why? It is not that big of a deal that you need a front row seat or something...just being in the area is more than enough...
victory2020 Posted March 19, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2018 I'm assuming you can get there at 8:30 with no problem. Are taxis available to get back to town afterwards?
kathy49 Posted March 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 20, 2018 8:30 is just fine...flat rate for taxis are 10 cuc but I imagine one can be had for less with bargaining. I would combine it with a walk around Habana Vieja...it is all safe and very enjoyable.
jdvmd Posted April 7, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2018 Do you know how many people fit into a taxi for the 10 CUC rate? We are a party of four.
kathy49 Posted April 8, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 8, 2018 no problem 3 in back one in front with driver...it seems that drivers find cruise passengers are willing to pay more than the 10 so you may have to bargain to the 10 if they start higher.. Anyislandwilldo Posted April 8, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Following. Also I have not seen a response to whether or not there are taxis available after the ceremony to take passengers back to the port. Thanks.
CeleBrat Posted April 12, 2018 #10 Share Posted April 12, 2018 Following. Also I have not seen a response to whether or not there are taxis available after the ceremony to take passengers back to the port. Thanks. Yes! We did this when we visited Havana. Our driver indicated that he would wait for us. NOTE--the taxis drop you off outside the fort, and there is not a lot of lighting. It was also drizzling on the night we went, so it was very treacherous walking to/from/in the fort. CeleBrat
CeleBrat Posted April 12, 2018 #11 Share Posted April 12, 2018 Here's an idea of exactly how dark and wet it was that night: Lots of cobblestones and standing water, with no lights leading up to the fort. And, the 2nd pic is the area where our taxi parked. Total darkness, with the fort off in the distance.
