Shawski Posted August 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2013 Does anyone have any recent information as to whether or not Azamara provides a shuttle from the dock to Taormina? If there is a shuttle, where does it drop you off? We are on the September 29 Venice to Nice cruise on Quest and I'm trying to finalize our plans. Thanks
Host Hattie Posted August 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2013 Yes they do. It drops off at a parking garage and you get a lift up into the town.

Thanks We were on the same cruise as hattie the cattie. The Azamara shuttle was very well organised running every 30 minutes each way to the Parking Garage Porta Catania, Corso Umberto, Taormina (a 20 minutes bus ride from the tender). From there it was a 20/25 minutes walk to the Greek theatre/"Teatro antico di Taormina" if not distracted by the shopping opportunities i.e. for souvenirs. Have a great cruise! :)

njguy_south Posted August 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2013 Does anyone know about the shuttle service in Catania? Does it take you into the center of town, or are you docked close enough to walk? What about the port of Ashdod in Israel -- how far from the city center does the ship dock, and does a shuttle take you there? Thanks!
Shawski Posted August 15, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Sorry - forgot to ask this before. What about Dubrovnik? Does Azamara provide a shuttle to the old town? Thanks, Marti
cruisemuse13 Posted August 15, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Sorry - forgot to ask this before. What about Dubrovnik? Does Azamara provide a shuttle to the old town? Thanks, Marti In November, 2012, Azamara provided a free shuttle from the ship to the gate of the old town in Dubrovnik. Very convenient.
Travels with Lisa Posted August 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2013 does anyone know if they offer a shuttle to town in Vallenta? thanks
hrhdhd Posted August 21, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 21, 2013 does anyone know if they offer a shuttle to town in Vallenta? If you mean Valletta, Malta, they didn't last October. It is not that far of a walk to the shopping area, although the walk out of the port itself is more lengthy than usual. They didn't have a gate open near the ship and we had to walk all the way to the end of the fence and then backtrack to the street to go up to town. Host Hattie Posted August 21, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 21, 2013 There was no shuttle in Valletta in August either. It was a rather steep walk up to the centre, although there is a lift in a parking garage. We got the HOHO bus and got off in the city centre and then walked back down to the ship. santrah Posted August 21, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 21, 2013 You will not need a shuttle bus if tendering into Dubrovnik, the ship will run the tender into the old town port just minutes walk from the old town/walls etc. Its a stunning little port to tender in and out of. Most other cruise lines, well the big ones dock in the more modern port area and you would need to their buses or local transport to get into the old town. Depends on where the Dubrovnik port authorities assign the ship's anchor spot, which can be a 15-minute ride west of the Old Town in the more modern port area, as we have had on both our previous port day visits on other "R"-sized ships while much larger ships anchored right outside the Old Town.
