Latitudes member benefits

We didn't get a thank you after our last cruise, either. Oh well. Since I didn't cruise last year, guess it doesn't matter anyway!...or maybe that is the reason why?

I misunderstood it the first time I read it and reread it. It is not when you go on a cruise but:

you will receive one of our post-cruise Thank-You Notes with corresponding on-board credit when you graduate a Latitudes tier.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! You ONLY get the OBC perk applied after your 5th, 9th and 14th cruises and ONLY if your next NCL cruise is taken within 6 months of your qualifying cruise. PERIOD. No exceptions. The OP shows the levels in post 1, but I can tell you, according to the email I received as a reply to my inquiry of the Latitudes department, that we are only getting a $25. credit for turning SILVER.

this is snow in the winter time. How many people take the next cruise within 6 months....and its not a big deal....I thought it if you reserve within 6 months. By saying "no exceptions" they are being extremely limiting...there is NO reason to say that on the web page...

the chances of having more than one available within 6 months is nil and if they do they should give you both!

Tack sverigecruiser for the information! I just booked last week the Jade 9 nights Morocco-Las Palmas-Madeira cruise for March and the Cruise Consultant at NCL Germany office didn't menotion that to me. I'll contact them tomorrow. As we have a mini suite and we're bronze level, this should give us a $100 OBC for the cruise.

I'll make sure to get their confirmation and again a confirmation on-board because on my last cruise on Gem, the NCL Germany promised OBC was never informed to the ship and I had to ask for a credit card refound afterwards.

Print all information you find on the website so that you can show it on the ship if they don't give you the credit.

I'm not sure that the mini-suite gives you a double credit, that might be for full suites only.

Yes, I will print all documentation.

Here's a quote from the website:

On-board credit per Latitudes member***

If you book a suite the on-board credit duplicates.

***On-board credit doubles as of category AF (Mini Suite). Exceptions: N.Epic as of D4 (Deluxe Balcony), N.Sky as of AC (Penthouse), N.Spirit as of AD (Penthouse), Pride of America as of AG (Family Suite).

Everyone should keep in mind that you ONLY get the OBC perk for ONE cruise taken within six months of your qualifying at a new tier level. That is, your 2nd, 6th, 10th, and 15th cruises ONLY! NOWHERE on their web site can I find the exact amounts of this perk. I am not SURE, but based on the amount we were just told we will be receiving in an email from the Latitudes department, it looks as though it is based on the cabin category you book.

Here are some of the "rules" directly from their web site: *One and two day cruises do NOT count at all toward your next tier level. *You MUST provide your latitudes number at the time of booking to qualify. *Only ONE onboard credit Latitude coupon can be redeemed per reservation (so perhaps if you book two cabins under one reservation number you get just ONE OBC?), *Offer excludes NCL Reduced Rate programs (e.g. casino, employee rates, interline, friends /family rates, vendor rates, or cruises taken via cruise credit certificate) and charters AND this most comprehensive cover-all caveat: *NCL has the right to terminate at NCL's sole discretion the membership of any individual in the Latitudes Program who appears to be utilizing the Latitudes Program in a manner inconsistent with the terms and conditions.

I think the OBC perks for Latitudes members are different depending from which NCL sales office the cruise is purchased. At least EU/Germany office has different perks than the US sales office.

I'm sure that everything you write is correct for a cruise booked from NCL in America but if a cruise is booked from NCL in Germany the onboard credit is given on every cruise you book.

I've been trying to figure this one out myself, the EU, Italian, Spanish and German NCL web sites list for Bronze $25 pp or double that if you are in a suite, the UK and US web sites do not list it as a benefit, however the Latitude program is a worldwide program so it should not matter which office it's booked through the benefits should be the same.

On our cruise on the Star last October we were told by the NCL rep that we should apply for the credits once we got onboard, once we were on board they told us that any onboard credits would have had to be pre arranged prior to departure (in other words the NCL rep was less than honest) I would get the credit in writing before leaving.

I agree that the benefits should be the same. A lots of things are different around the world.

For example, the Epic cruises in Europe summer 2011 can now be booked from NCL US but not from NCL EU and the Cruise Rewards are valid for a full deposit for a Penthouse if the Cruise Reward is in $ but not if it's in £.

A lots of things are different, I don't know why.

Even basic cruise prices can be different depending on if the cruise is booked through the cruise company's European, UK, US or even Australian website.

For example Princess makes it very difficult to compare cruise prices on its different web sites. The US booking site can usually be accessed only if your web connexion is going through a US proxy. I managed once to get on to the Princess US web booking site when connecting through my employers network and choosing a US access point. Also many US online TAs mention that prices are only valid to US residents.

The prices can also be very different on the same site!!! When we booked our last cruise, so far, we got the price in british pound instead of in euro and because of that we saved a lots of money (I think it was around $500)! I think that it was so that if we logged in in the beginning of the booking process we got the price in pound but if we logged in later we got the price in euro! (It could have been the other way, I don't remember for sure.) So depending on when we logged in, the difference in price was $500!

It can't be done anymore but I still have the option the book on NCL UK if I want to.

"The Latitudes on board credit coupon change went into effect for anyone who graduated a tier after Jan. 24, 2010, guests who graduated a tier before this date were not sent this offer as the program had not yet launched. The web site was updated with this information on that date. Shortly you will receive in the mail an upgrade certificate and Latitudes kit for when you graduated a tier in December. "

So what I received were the throwaway key fobs and luggage tags and a next-to-worthless one-category upgrade certificate.

Makes no sense to me since people were quoting from the NCL website back in December about the new program. And now they say it went into effect January 24???

How about those of that have been Platinum for quite some time now. When are they going to create a new level so they can show us some love.

Thanks for this timely thread. We are Latitudes members and just recently graduated to Gold. All that we got was a coupon with the notification letter that was good for a 1-catagory upgrade on our stateroom. I sent it in and got the upgrade but no more than that.

Upon reading the info above, I have sent an e-mail to NCL (LATCLERICAL@NCL.COM) requesting the OBC as per the new policy. I sent it yesterday and have so far only received an acknowledgement of receipt for the e-mail. I will advise this thread of any additional info I receive from NCL when it arrives.

Issues like this are what makes this Message Board valuable to the frequent cruiser.

I inquired about the OBC from NCL since we are Gold Latitudes members and only received an upgrade coupon when we graduated our last level.

I checked with NCL and they replied:

Many thanks for your email and enquiry into Latitudes membership.

The Latitudes program change went into effect for anyone who graduated a tier after Jan. 24, 2010. We hope you enjoyed your Latitudes kit with upgrade certificate when you graduated a tier in February 22, 2009 after the sailing of the Pearl. When you reach the next tier you will be sent out the new offer. We appreciate your loyalty as we continue to improve the Latitudes program.

Thank you

Latitude Clerical

  • 1 month later...

WooHoo! We could get lucky cause were looking to book our 9th cruise which should prompt the post card, I think we'll consider booking a B2B for OBC cruises (10th &11th) so both my wife and I can both take advantage of the new perk, it would be nice if they allowed more time between cruises to use it though, they should allow a year. I think most past guests really couldn't work within their time frame.

Unless I missed it, I didn't read that in the rules. I read that the onboard credit benefit is not available on one and two day cruises. It was in the paragraph explaining onboard credit benefit. Am I wrong? I have a two day cruise coming up that should put me in platinum tier.

Not sure how to use the quote thing, sorry.

We are Latitudes members (though we were taking just our second NCL cruise last week) and saw nothing in benefits outside of a couple of rum punches at the Latitudes meeting. We sailed the Star out of LA and there was no special line for members on embarkation(actually I think there was one but they weren't using it and when I asked I was pointed to where everyone else was. They had a 20 minute bonus on internet service but if you signed up the first day everyone got it and it only worked if yo need a second 250 minutes and that is about it- nice thing to have but not sure it is worth very much. Certainly not enough to choose to do an NCL cruise again over another line.
