Capris pants in dining room

Another vote against capri pants. They do look good on a select few , but if you are a little big in the bum they make it look huge!!! My 2 year old niece kept pulling at the cuff of her pants trying to get them to reach her ankles. Even she knew!!

I vote against speedos forever! And I also hate capri pants. I have begged my wife not to wear them. They are as hideous as Nehru jackets were on men. (Showing my age?)

Another vote for capri pants here. I can't have enough capri outfits. Everyone I know and work with wear them. They are flattering, comfortable and cooler. There are just so many different styles, designs. I am always cold so they are perfect for cool nights. Check out Ann Taylor - there are some great outfits there. I just got dressy white ones with a silk fuschia sweater set with white backless sandals - great outfit. Look for me on Empress of the Seas 8/21 in my capri pants.

Interesting opinions on capris. I had made one pair and really love them. Plus I received 2 pairs from friends who had bought the wrong size. I am sitting here in a pair even as I write. Then another acquaintance gave me some lovely material. I had enough for a jacket and short (below the knee) pants, but not regular length pants. I have had nothing but compliments about the outfit, and I am no supermodel, just a senior citizen who loves to sew.

how in the world are you comparing capri slacks to speedo bathing suits. a better analogy would be comparing them to men wearing sweats in the dining room. ok if you are comfortable in them, fine wear them. just understand you look like you are expecting floods at any second. a nice cotton skirt will keep you cool in the day and warm in the evening and would look 500 percent better on most of the passengers i've seen on cruise ships. and back to comparisons i also wouldn't want to see sweats on the men either.

OK, now when do we have a war about the length of shorts for men and women, the shirts in or out, etc etc. Geez, this is our vacation & not a fashion runway. I was in the fashion world for 18 yrs & there's always a difference of opinion on styles. Vacation is a time to relax & be yourself, certainly not to impress all 3000 on the ship. Can't be done! Have to agree about bra straps showing w/tanks...that's not a fashion choice! Awkkk! As for skirts being cooler...yes they are, but not for wearing on the ship w/all the activities & wind...for me!

Capri's and cropped pants guarantee that a women's legs will look shorter and her butt will look larger.

So, if you have very long slim legs and a tiny, tight butt, they'll look okay on you.

Everyone else, you're fooling yourselves if you think they flatter your figure.

I agree with the comfort crew - however the dining room has always been thought of as a bit more dressy. Save the capris for the afternoons - have something nicer for the dining room. You don't have to fuss a lot, but a nice skirt or dressy slacks make me feel the difference between day and nightime activites. Maybe because we do late seating. Just my thoughts... it's YOUR vacation - do what works for you.

To each his own, but I'm in the anti-capri camp. In my opinion, you need to be tall and thin to pull them off. I have short legs and they look awful on me, even in a petite size. What annoys me is that it's hard to find full length casual pants anymore - all you see are capris! Shopping for this trip I had to settle for what I could find. There's not much else in the stores.

Who would have thought there would be such debate over pants? I asked this same question over on the fashion board and such a debate was not started. I personally like capris and plan to wear them. Many people can wear full length pants and look bad so I don't see why capris are to plan. They are just like anything else, if you don't get the right fit for your body its not going to look right. If we are talking about bad fashion what about pleated pants, especially on men. I have never seen someone look good in those.

It depends on the style and the length of a woman's legs. I'm "fluffy", and I have long legs. So, even being wider, so to speak, I still look fine in capris. I just have to make sure I wear the narrower cut styles.

The problem is that women with shorter legs wear them, and they cut several inches above the ankle, looking like "flood" pants. They do look silly. If cut mid-calf or just a teensy above the ankle, then they make the leg look better.

Besides, they're comfy, and.....IT'S A VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!
