Jsaxm Posted June 28, 2011 #51 Share Posted June 28, 2011 Jsaxm-I just e-mailed Carnival yesterday, and today I got my confirmation e-mail that we are booked for this excursion. I made reservations for June 2012. We don't have to pay anything now and the tour will be added to our Sign and Sale card. Very convenient and fast! I just got my confirmation yesterday and they didn't even question the date. I am so excited....now just to wait 13 more months, LOL!!
traveler525 Posted June 28, 2011 #52 Share Posted June 28, 2011 We just did this excursion with HAL for $199 pp. It was wonderful! I highly recommend it. Ok, this is a strange question, but......how was the boat? If you saw some calving during your trip, did you feel safe? I love being on the water but since I cannot swim I am really also afraid of water:cool: But I really want to try this.......

They are usually three deck boats used, and, no, calving glaciers are of no risk. the boats maintain a safe distance.

libtrek Posted June 29, 2011 #55 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Just back from Alaska, June 14th. on the Spirit. We loved the Tracey Arm trip. We felt perfectly safe and they had a crew member as an iceberg spotter. I have to say looking back at the Disney ship, which was surrounded by icebergs, was more frightening to me. The Spirit did not get as close. The blue color of the glacier was fantastic. Libtrek

Does Allen Marine have 2 ships there to do excursions closer to the glacier, because there are 2 cruise ships?
